when you gonna get me one of those, lol

lol....I mainly did it as a joke....wanted to see how two mating parts worked out.

Most of the time I wouldn't have/want the room. But when we see how the shapeways parts turned out I could put it up there.

But I have got to get my own 3D printer, it is awesome!!!

Mamu I hope you got shapeways straightened out.

I looked into shapeways process a little closer for the "strong & flexible plastic" and I think you guys are going to be very happy with them. They use a laser sintering (SLS) process which is much more accurate than the type of machine I have been using. The only thing I worry about is the screen channel, might want to open that up just hair so the screen just drops in. So I'm very impatiently waiting for your results :D

It's a good thing tw posted here that he got shipping notice and that got me to contact shapeways about it cuz they had spaced my order. The lady at shapeways sent an email yesterday apologizing for it and shipped it via UPS overnight shipping. I'm stalking the front door now as UPS tracking says it's out for delivery. :D

It’s here!! This is exactly what I wanted!! Needs a light sanding and a coat of sealant or clear coat, but it’s good to go and aok with the dimensions. I'll know better about the fit once I get it in a mod, but the screen is a perfect fit in the cradle part - slips right in and is perfectly aligned and centered in the frame.

MegaTackleHug to bapgood for getting the ball rolling on this!!

Just ordered a couple of 'em......hopefully I can get it to fit in the mini mod (tight fit already) and if not, may need to find another enclosure??????

It would be soooooo sweet if an enclosure could be made just like the 9volt batt box we are using only 1/8" bigger in all directions (height, width, and depth) with a cut out for the screen protector shown above.....

Haha....I'm already out ahead of you that :D

I uploaded a larger model of an enclosure I had done for using 3400 1S2P....it would be two pieces and around 3.75"x1"x1.25" but it had thicker walls and wound have been around $30 for both pieces.

So I started laying out something using two of the 1200 batts that you use (and are out of stock). It should be cheaper because of the size. I'll start a thread for it once I have a preliminary design done.

...thinking it will be too deep to fit in the mini mod and may need to find another enclosure??????

No - just the opposite retird - the 9v batt box has a thickness +2mm, so you'll need to dremel down to a thickness of 1.5mm in the area of the case where the display is seated in order for the frame/cradle to fit properly.

thats awesome news thanks to mamu and bap never thought custom made parts could be made so quickly and cheap! probly could get a custom enclosure made. so drop in could be possible with a little soldering for less creative people like me that just want a dna20d mod. also i wouldnt mind donating bap you have mad auto cad skills.
