I got by for a whole year on about $500 worth of mods, juice, toppers, etc, but once it becomes a hobby, that all goes out the window. I've spent $1500 within the last 3 months trying new toys plus juice, and in that time frame I would have spent maybe $300-400 on cigarettes. So, really it just depends on how far you want to take it.

I know that I am spending more right now than when I smoked. Only been vaping a few weeks, so I am still getting set up. BUT - I look at it like this - my first little set up was 2 ego batteries and a charger, like $60 or 70 bucks, but these things are reusable. That is not something I can say about the analogs...the consumable piece is much-much cheaper than analogs. Now - hanging out on this forum may break my bank...WAAAAAYYYY too many bright shiny objects!

Just ordered a bunch of juice and nic to start DIY, based on my scratch paper math, that should end up costing me about 1/3 of what I would have been spending on analogs. (oh yeah, and a cute little 400mAH Vision Spinner VV - it's the size of my 650 ego - can't wait for it to get here) Okay, so discipline might be necessary. Hmmm, I may be in trouble!

El Diablo...you seem to be on to something! If I can figure that juice thing out, I might could vape for free. Or - buy a bad ... mod or something!

DIY is super easy. Just saying....I had a fear of it somewhat and I think that's normal. But start out with maybe 48 mg nic and you don't have to worry as much. I still won't use more than 48 mostly nic base. Check out DIY Recipes on Facebook and the DIY thread in here. The biggest markup is on juices. Making it yourself is super cheap. Also watch Youtubes to get comfortable with it.

Absolutely saving money. I have purchased mods style PV's (I own a Provari, a Vamo, and an Itaste MVP), plenty of different tanks, lots of juice, and other general maintenance parts and such, so I have definitely racked up a good total with all that, but now that I own essentially all that I need for a while, my buying has and continues to decrease. Even in my heaviest buying time, I still spent less than when I spent more than 12 dollars a day on a 2 pack a day D'Jarum Black clove cigar habit. In fact, I've MADE money by quitting the cloves. I also no longer wake up gasping for breath, feeling like my lungs are eating themselves.

This is about the same for me. Definitely saving money now, but initial outlay can be expensive...especially if you get hooked on trying all the new gadgets.
Ya, I started off with a 510-eGo combo kit, cost around 70 I think. Later switched to eGo-C tanks(another 20)
Wanted to try a T3 and Nova cuz of all the talk here and bought one each and the Nova won out, so I'll be getting a second one soon
Was getting juice from the local vendor(hence the ~$50), but then I found MBV and I go through about 30-45mL a month from them for ~$15

And think long term. You ARE saving because you're not giving yourself cancer, COPD, emphysema, or increasing your risk of diabetes and heart disease. I have already done the cancer thing. Still paying for it.
Actually nicotine causes heart disease, arrythmia and pulmonary vasoconstriction...

I'm definitely saving money. If I include the infrequent batt replacement, I have been spending on average about $45-$60/month in supplies. When I smoked, a pack was about $7.50 plus tax. I smoked 2 packs a day so $15/day x 30 days.. $450/month in smokes.

I'm either doing something really right or really wrong to pull off a $400 savings per month by vaping.

I stopped trying to calculate the savings when I I went into the negative. I don't vape (ecigs) I am a enthusiast in all aspects. I love carto tanks, but my Phoenix rebuildable atty is awesome too. Genesis style mods and atties are great and frustrating at times, but I love to tinker, so it works out for me. I got into diy a few months back and that long term is saving money, but short term not at all. I spend roughly $130 per order of diy, but it lasts 2-3 with some flavors still not empty. I don't feel the need to ask or ponder if I'm saving money. I didn't worry about the financial cost of cigarettes and I don't see a purpose to now. Vaping is by far safer than analogs, tastes better, smells better and is a lot more fun.
