OK, let's see:, in my arsenal I have:

1 Ego w/ reg 510 (about to be 'upgraded' to 306 atty)
1 Ego w/ LR 510
1 Ego w/ 901
1 Ego w/ reg 510 carto
--
1 laser mod 3.7v LR 510
1 screwdriver 3.7v reg 901
--
1 Saber Touch 5v reg 510

Out of those, I use the Egos the most. They travel with me to work every day. The cartos are nice, but I only use them for my tobacco flavor that is always with me/never changes. Cartos are good for people who only use 1 flavor at a time, and I don't/can't/won't do that. I always have at least 4-5 flavors with me, and having the different voltage/attys changes it up each time I drip (I only drip, no carts).

The Screwdriver and the Saber Touch are great for at-home vaping, but both are a little big for work-time. But I would recommend both wholeheartedly. The laser is good for what it is, a small 3.7v, but I find I am using it less and less.

I've also got coming in a Tekk mod (thanks zbasspro!), which is regulated to right around 5v. I'm also looking at the Little Sister, and in the near future, Cisco/ELP's HeliX and the Pulse (?!?!) Somebody help me, I'm addicted to mods!!

If I had to pick one, it would be the Ego. Small form factor, lasts close to all day, hits great (esp. w/ LR attys), and cheap (and continually getting cheaper!)

1 side question: did I read some people are using LR attys on the 5v Saber? Doesn't that burn them out almost immediately? I've never tried it, but I am intrigued...

[Edit: I just now received the Tekk mod, and it is great. First impressions and everything, but it seems to be another winner for 5v mods.]

I have to admit something here, Kristin -- it's kind of fun watching you get confused. LOL

There was a time long ago in a galaxy far far away when you didn't know a thing about 510 cartridges and fillers either, though. Then you became an innovator on stuffing those things, so I'm sure you'll be a mod guru soon. =)

I just read through the thread, specifically your responses, and it seems to me that size matters -- who knew? I think if you want a perspective of real sizes in your hand as opposed to pics and vids, an accurate *in house* prop for the standard eGo would be the AA battery. The colored portion of the eGo battery is nearly identical to any AA you have laying around. Add about 5/8" for the connector/switch portion. It's actually very comfortable and the added weight as opposed to a standard 510 battery feels natural in a matter of minutes.

They come in a myriad of colors too which would look elegant/impressive coming out of one of your lovely cases.

Ha. Ha. Richie. :p

Yeah, the size does matter, because ideally, I'd like it to fit in my 5" case I already use, when fully assembled.

It sounds like the Ego or H16 is the way to go - expecially since it allows me to stay within the realm of my 510 knowledge.

I'll have to look more into how long an Ego with the XL battery, mega cart and cone is all assembled.

Anyone have thoughts on the Ego as Kent has it set up (thanks again, Kent) vs. the H16? The start-up price of the H16 is a huge plus for me, but I don't want to make a mistake over price - I know you get what you pay for!!

You weren't doing anything wrong. This is what happens when you vape at a higher wattage (more power). When people talk about vaping at higher voltage, what they're really talking about is vaping at higher wattage. Basically, higher wattage means more and hotter vapor.

You may not care to know the specifics, but to really understanding what's happening requires a bit of knowledge about electronics theory. Wattage is a measurement of power. The formula to calculate wattage is wattage = voltage squared / resistance.

Standard 510 attys typically run between 2.5-3 ohms of resistance. So, if you use a standard atty on a 3.2V battery (eg. 510 or eGo) the power output is roughly 3.7 watts. (3.2v * 3.2v / 2.75 ohms)

Low resistance attys are usually around 1.5 ohms. Doing that math on that tells us we get 6.8 watts, or nearly double the power. (3.2 * 3.2 / 1.5 )

Using a high voltage mod yields even more power. A 5v mod with a standard 510 atty outputs about 9.1 watts. With an LR atty it's about 16.7 watts.

Knowing how this works means you can really dial in exactly the amount of power you want, especially if you have a variable voltage mod like The Buzz.

I'll have to re-read this a couple of times, but that was very helpful!!

I was just worried because the vendor warns that using an LR atty on a regular 510 battery shortens the life of the battery and/or the LR atty. So, I didn't think LR attys were meant for regular 510 batteries - more for Ego styles.

hey Kristin! just wanted to add my 2 cents and say that i would recommend trying out the H16 as well. i tried one while at a meet, and it definitely packs a punch for such a small device IMHO. besides it's small size, i also really like that it's a 3.7v device rather than my 3.2v-ish eGo. i know you can get it at:

madvapes and cloudsofvapor.

pair it with a LR306 atty and drip tip or a LR cartomizer from nhaler and you've yourself a mighty fine device.

if you're looking into going higher voltage, i also recommend getting a Little Sister. it's super tiny, easy to adjust voltages and it's probably the most affordable variable voltage device i've seen.

as for myself, i love my Chuck and black Silver Bullet. they are larger than most mods, but also keep in mind that pictures make them appear larger than they really are in real life. best of luck in your search!

I haven't read the whole thread but have to tell you that I have 20 (maybe a few more) mods and I mostly use the eGoXL/Tornado/f16 with a low resistance 306 atomizer. It is vaping heaven. I also use the fistpack frequently. Especially in the mornings when I use it on the lowest setting.

So, you can get all kinds of mods but I suggest the f16. The eGo's battery is 650mah, the XL is 900mah (maybe 1000) or f16's battery is 1300mah. The f16 is small and you can vape it all day.

Just my :2c:

Thanks, Vip!

I was just looking at Drew's LR cartomizers and attys and got stumped.

He sells blank LR cartomizers in a 5 pack for $10.50, but a single LR atty is $9?

I'm not sure if using the single LR atty with my PTB carts would be better or worse than using a LR cartomizer?

I have to look back through this thread to see how much liquid a standard LR cartomizer holds. I didn't see a mega 510 LR cartomizer.

Thanks! What is an F16? Is it like the H16?

Yes. The f16 is the same as the H16

Do LR attys really only last 1-2 weeks, as one vendor says?

I'm on my 4th week with a 2 ohm LR801 (IkenVape). I think early production runs weren't as good as they are now, also they initially were made to be 1.5 ohms which is generally considered too low now. Now most of them are made in the 1.8 ohm range (i think).

I use carts with LR attys all the time.

Although, I'm kinda interested in the new EC2 cartos that are just coming out, there's been a ginormous thread going on for a month or so about them.
