Does this happen when you give an analog smoker a sample?

I find it kind of odd that everytime I let an analog smoker a try of one of my ecigs they cough their head off.
I guide them by telling them not to hit it like a cigarette. To just draw smoothly and create negative pressure but they still react this way. Does this happen to you?
I have converted a number of smokers to vapers none the less!

Not sure if it's true but I read here when I first started vaping that it is because of the tar coating on a smoker's lungs. The vapor can't penetrate as well and makes them cough. It goes away in a few days of vaping more and smoking less.

This actually makes sense. I remember hacking up a lot of phlegm and disgusting crap when I started vaping full-time.

I find it odd myself and a little annoying if you want to know the truth.

I never coughed, but maybe it's the way I inhale (not like my life depended on it). I've heard that if you tell people to open their mouth when they inhale it helps.

I made up a sample of very low nic e-liquid for a friend to 'practice' with. It seemed to help some.

I have one specific friend that I am trying to win over, and he likes the concept of vaping and loves the taste, but every time I let him hit mine he hacks up an internal organ!
He's not willing to take the plunge because of it.
It's weird to me, because I never experienced it when I switched.

It happens sometimes with me, usually with those that even though you guide them they still want to use it like a cigarette. It happens most often with the atty or cartos, but not as often with the ego-c standard set up or with clearos when I was using those. And if it is a menthol, they always cough up a lung lol. I still converted 5 though.

Everyone who tries it coughs, despite my warnings. I gave a friend my old blu pack that was sitting around and he liked it. He's still smoking but uses both. Just gave him my volt to use with some of my diy and some tobacco juice and obviously he's enjoying that better. He does like the hits from my vv better, but wants the cig form factor. If he stays interested I plan to loan him my ego twists.

It happens every single time I let someone who is curious try it. Even despite prior warnings/directions to take a slow easy sort of 2-stage inhale, they then proceed to take a hard, fast and furious vape like it's a ciggy and their life depends on that drag, and then they're hacking and squeezing their eyes shut and handing it back to me saying "ugh, how can you stand that!"

I then tell them they are vaping kitty-cats ( :censored: ) .

Absolutely---it's because their lungs are used to the cigarettes/500 chemicals involved, there is a process in which your lungs start to clean their-selves out too which can take a few days to adjust to this. There is a slight learning curve to switching over and you do have to inhale a touch differently as mentioned, but nothing difficult. Some people get scared thinking they will cough every time/forever with e-smoking but 95% of them are already hacking up a lung anyway every morning before they drink their coffee!!! :) LOL!!! Right!?
