1/2 pack per day or less = 6 mg nicotine
1 ppd = 12 mg
1 1/2 ppd = 18 mg
2 ppd = 24 mg
On that note, 12 mg should be good, because I am between 1/2 - 1 ppd. No sub ohm for me at this point. Working with 1.6 ohm on current innokin Kroma A/Zenith. Great vape, which I thought was what I was looking for...

The only thing I will add is that I never smoke a whole cigarette at one time. Some sort of stupid attempt at cutting down that now is a habit. Before this, I smoked about 8 cigs a day, now with this new 'routine', I smoke more like 12-14 a day. So, the WRONG direction...

Long Version: Smoked 23 years. Not just tobacco. Found the e cigarette 6 years ago. Was a ciggalike cartouche system. As we moved into our new house i had a fall back to cigarettes for a half a year. Since then never ever touched a cigarette.
BUT don't imagine that you will save money. You are just about to find a new hobby and start already thinking about excuses for your miss why the hell so many packages will arrive :)

Hi everyone, I got a SMOK V8 Stick to helpfully drop my tabacco habit for good. I just started on 6mg juice (that’s the highest mg I can find in stores). And I’m wondering if vaping has helped any of you stop smoking. I’ve heard a lot of contradictory reports, some saying it’s a great way to quit while others say it’s not an effective method. I would love to hear your personal stories on if it helped or not. Or if you have any tips to stop smoking and stick to only vaping. Your stories, opinions, and tips are greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Greetings Shepherdsdriving! :) Salutations from across the Realms to my realm traveling brethren. 888 *pax* & CAW! I'll TRY to be brief! ;) "Hello my name is YardByrd and I AM a cigaholic". I smoked Cigars and Cigarettes for over 35 years. 3 major surgeries and 6 mos of Chemo in'89 2.5 PAD of M*b*or Red 100s put down during Chemo with the vow to never smoke again. 6 mos later I was at almost 3 PAD. Heart attack in 2000 (I was at 2.5-3 PAD of M*b*or Red 100s ) I put them down and didn't smoke for 8 mos vowing, again, to NEVER SMOKE again. I was back to 2.5-3 PAD after that AGAIN. I tried everything I could afford to quit but nothing worked. I felt I was doomed to die from Tobacco related effects, a slave to it, and would never quit. I tried Vaping in Feb. 2012. My smoking went down 90% to 10 stinkies/day. Dual use for 1 month. A month later, I thought, driving to work, "You know... I think I want the flavor of that Vanilla Latte more than the M*b*or Red 100s, I'm going to try one day without them and just vape." That was 3/25/12 and I have been tobacco free ever since. Though still a cigaholic, and I KNOW it, I am free from being enslaved to Tobacco. Be well. Happy New Year. 888 *pax* AND CAW!

As some have said, it depends on each person.

To me, discovering vaping was really exciting. It helped me with two things. Stop smoking and stop eating all the time.

However I have gone back to cigarettes a few times. First cause the starter kit I bought was not meeting my expectations and also I got frustrated at not being able to try more interesting flavors.

Last time I “relapsed” was on my birthday. I had my vape right there but I felt depressed and I just grabbed a cigarette. I must say that I didn’t like the gross feeling on my throat the next day, as if I had a piece of plastic stuck there every time I tried my vape. So now I think I won’t be going back to cigarettes cause they’re just not good to me anymore.

I’d much rather deal with spitback than bad breath and weird feelings in my throat.

Not every one spends a fortune.. I've saved thousands of dollars since I quit smoking.

Many if not most of us do save. I spent just under 100 dollars this last year on vaping total. There was only one year I spent the same on vaping as I had on smoking, and that was a stocking up year..

I spent over $150 this year on vaping alone (2 kits, extra coils, e-liquid), and still spent a boat load on cigarettes in the meantime. I consider this the price of 'transition'... maybe next year will be better?? It will be cheaper once I reduce/eliminate the lousy cigarettes.

It sounds like you're pretty happy with the Kroma/Zenith kit, @Chafo. Maybe you're smoking a few more cigarettes a day because you know you're verging on giving them up completely. A kind of pre-quitting gorge. Brains do weird things like that.
Hey, I am happy with the above kit over the Aspire Zelos/N2 - for what that is worth. No, the change in cig habit came in between - after totally rejecting the Aspire and before getting the Kroma...but, who knows, anything is possible. My brain, on 40+ years of nic/tar, is no doubt weird...

I spent $335 the first year I vaped, that included e-liquid and other replacement costs such as you'll have with coils.. but I would have spent over $2,000 on cigarettes if I would have smoked. (I never dual used)

the year I stocked up I spent what I would have spent on cigarettes, (about $2,300) but that put me in a position I can make my own coils, I make my own e-liquid and don't have to buy anything for a few/several years and I have really nice vape gear.

The hundred I spent this year was unnecessary, just fun stuff.. but with inflation if i was still smoking I would have spent 3,600 on smoking this year.. so the savings is phenomenal.

So, you'll spend more than 150 on vaping a year when including juice and coils, but it doesn't have to equal the cost of cigarettes, and if your thrifty it can be far cheaper.

YES, you will save money. But not in cash. You will spent it elsewhere in my opinion.

For me i updated my bushcraft, camping gear. Ordered knife sharpening systems. Spent some in designing 3D Squonker Mods and prototyping. Bought more LEGO for my son and myself.... So i think this is all a better investment compared to cigarettes. But i never brought it to the bank.

Most important is that time and health can never been paid. And this is what you get from starting vaping.

Hello and welcome to the forums @Shepherdsdriving !!!! 28 year smoker here @ 1.5-2 packs a day. I started out doing dual use of vaping and analogs. Most of the time I just puffed on my ecig after work when there was really no stress to be had. I continued like that for about a month. I started then trying to cut my reg smokes little by little through out the day. I usually had 2 smokes during morning break, replaced that with 1/2 of smoke, vape and then other half. During lunch, I usually had 3. Replaced that with 1 smoke then vape then second with the normal of mainly vaping after work. As time went on, I noticed the more I vaped, the more I did not like to smoke as it started to taste awful. I actually made it to where I started to only have 1 before work, normally 3 and then 1/2 during break and the other half (smoke)at lunch. Before I knew it, I was only having 1 in the morning and one at night before bed. I then continued to have those and tried my hand at no smoking during the weekend and I actually made it. After I made that switch, the next thing I knew I was having only 1/2 smoke in morning and the rest at night. Then one day, after 3 and a half months, I finally quit smoking cigarettes. The morning smoke was my hardest one. To change that, the weekend was where I kept pushing the morning smoke later and later to where it was an afternoon smoke. By then it was easier to not have that. Never looked back and have been cig free for 4 years and almost 2 months now.

To make another long story short, my dad on the other hand never intended to quit smoking. He was a 2-3+ pack a day smoker of 57 years. I turned him on to vaping unflavored so he could vape in the hotel rooms when they traveled a lot. Without even trying he is now smoke free by doing it the same way I did. It will eventually get you there if you want it to. IT DOES WORK!!!! Give it a try. I have Faith in you!!!

Yeah, I began to not like the taste, then the smell became disgusting. I apologized to myself to all the non smokers for giving them that awful smell when I used to smoke....lol I tried smoking a year into my not smoking at our annual company golf outing because my coworker always brought cigars. I took 2 hits and had to put it out. That's when I knew I would never go back to smoking......

The thing to avoid at first is using the vape right after smoking or smoking right after a vape session. Your brain will quickly equate one with the other.
Tastey grape and a smoke can become like coffee and a smoke.

I stopped smoking a few years back by simply popping a mint lifesaver in my mouth. It worked until the day I smoked with a lifesaver still in my mouth. After that peppermint lifesaver flavor told my brain "time to smoke".

I made that mistake with a vape device one day without realizing it. I had just come from a meeting indoors, vaped on my Penguin in the elevator on the way out of the building. Stepped outside and instinctively lit up. Uh oh.
It only took that one time too.

So now it's turned into an unnecessary excersize to ensure there is at least 30 minutes between one and the other. That mistake caused me to have urges to smoke everytime I vape. (Even with high strength nic salt so please don't say " up your nicotine).

The key is to find a device that you like, replace triggers with other habits and tell that stupid little voice over your shoulder to SHUT THE FRONT DOOR every time it whispers "just one won't be a problem".
