He is leash trained and very obedient now and sweet, but hates all veterinarians.
My current dog Sierra (pictures coming soon) is very strange when it comes to veterinarians.

If either myself or my wife are in the room, she hides (shaking) under our seats.
If neither of us are there, she has no problem whatsoever.

And also, when WE try to trim her nails or give her a bath, she freaks out.
But when we take her to Petco for grooming, bathing, or clipping she has no problem whatsoever.

The folks at Petco think she is the most wonderful, most behaved dog ever.
They love her as much as we do, if not more!

Sierra is weird.
I guess that's probably why we often refer to her as Stupid Head.

My dog Lexi is a total freak when it comes to going to the vet. She won't leave the Jeep, and even once out of the Jeep she fights the leash. So I have to physically pick her up (while in the Jeep, which isn't easy) and carry her (all 75lbs of her) into the vet. She is so freaked out that the vet has us put a muzzle on her (for fear of her over reacting and biting). The vet always schedules us alone- there are not any other animals in the waiting lobby- typically schedules us first thing in the morning to make sure there is no one else in the lobby while we are there.

She's a complete sweetheart to our family (even the cats). But she is crazy protective, and doesn't allow any person or animal near us when walking her. But turns into a total whimpering baby at the vet - even attempts to sit on my lap, or hide behind the chair I'm sitting in, which is not easy for a dog her size LOL

My boy Rascal is like a typical child. Mention bath and he runs. I dont know how a 65 pound pit bull can prevent two grown adults from getting him into the bathroom for a bath but he does. We have to trick him into the bathroom and then close the door so he cant get out. But after a good rain storm, he will run thru ever frickin mud puddle he can find having a grand time.
I dont know if I would trust any place to groom him, especially after petco had a dog die in their care last week from negligence. Pet owner says dog died after being left in drying cage too long during Petco grooming trip | 6abc.com

Sierra...

I can't figure out if she is the stupidest dog I've ever had...
Or the smartest dog I've ever had...

She rocks to the beat of her own drum.

How old is she? If she's anything like Lexi (who also rocks to her own beat), as she gets older you will know that she is the smartest dog you've ever had. Lexi is 5 years old now. I've had a LOT of dogs in my lifetime, and Lexi is definitely the most intelligent one I've ever had. But I've learned that smart dogs come with their own set of challenges. It's very hard to "trick" them when you need to do something that they don't want to do.

LOL... Yeah, I know that one well. It's impossible to get Lexi into the bathroom for a bath. Even two adults can't pull it off. So now, we bought one of those plastic baby swimming pools. We fill it up in the garage. Open the garage door, put Lexi on a leash and pretend we're going for a walk. Walk out the front door, turn into the garage and put the garage door down. Then it's just a matter of wrestling her into the pool. It's quite a spectacle LOL. And yeah, a good rainstorm and Lexi is out splashing around like it's the greatest thing in the world.

She's getting pretty to close to 11 years old.

Actually she IS the smartest dog I've ever had.
But she just does some really stupid things sometimes.

I'm sure they're not stupid to her, and that she thinks she knows what she's doing.
But she does tend to learn things the hard way sometimes.

I guess because she is so smart...
We kind of hold her to a higher standard.

Honestly we have no idea. We found her in a field during a storm. She was around 8 weeks old at the time, and we assumed she had escaped someone's yard during the storms (it had stormed all day that day). No one ever claimed her. We took her to a vet to be checked out, and the vet determined that she had been living in the wild for quite a long time- she had every disease and parasite possible. We spent $1500 getting her healthy- money well spent :)

Here's my dog Zoey. Shes an 80 lb Saint Bernard poodle mix at 1 and a half years old.

and a pic before she got shaved.

When I was growing up, a neighbor had a dog like that. Great big St Bernard poodle mix. The dog was the sweetest dog. And then they shaved it- after they shaved it, it became the meanest most ill-tempered dog I have ever seen. Guess it really did not like the idea of being shaved LOL

It's hard to tell from the picture, but I would guess a Labrador Great Dane cross with a bit of something else. She has a look of indomitable spirit about her, a good looking dog.

Thanks... and yes, indomitable spirit would be a good way of describing her. My wife often says that the dog was very lucky we found her, because not too many other families would be able to handle Lexi's spirit.
