Hello everyone, this is my first post on this forum and I am the king of all noobs right now haha. I have not actually started vaping yet. Me and my girlfriend are planning on ordering some here in the next 2 weeks for our 2 year anniversary to quit analogs together. Well i've been reading and reading and watching all kinds of reviews and I'm still finding myself very confused. I'm just wondering if anyone can give me any suggestions as to what hardware/liquid would be good for me. i know it's all about preferences, however i was hoping i could give some examples of what i like, and maybe someone would have some suggestions based on their experiences. i have about $100 that I am willing to spend on my first starter kit. I would like something with a good amount of vapor and a strong menthol flavor. i would like something that is "close" to the size of an analog. i know that the batteries aren't as good with these models, but i smoke a pack every 2 days or so, so i will not be constantly vaping. Also, i plan on purchasing a pcc, so battery life shouldnt be a big deal. I am also confused with cartomizers vs atomizers? or if they are even the same thing? someone told me i should use cartomizers because the atomizer leak? or something like that? I dont know, like I said I am just getting overwhelmed. any help will be greatly appreciated.

welcome!!!

Your going to need two starter kits if you're buying for you and girlfriend. I think you can get a couple Riva 510 for that and still have some left over for liquid. I don't keep up on the sales going on but I'm sure someone will be around to clue you in.
Although to get enough liquid to keep you both stocked, it'll probably run over that.

If you prefer a cigarette look-alike, look at KR808D-1. One vendor to look at for those is vapor4life. jj2 didn't mean anything by telling you not to go with a mini, probably just missed that part of your post. Cartomizers vs atomizers is a personal preference issue. Cartomizers are less to worry about and hold more liquid, atomizers are more flexible as far as changing flavors is concerned and you have to change cartridges more often. KR808 uses cartomizers, and most people who stay with the small, cigarette look alikes seem to prefer them over other mini models. The M series has a strong following too. M401/402/403 is preferred by those who want the small size with an atomizer instead of a cartomizer.

Good luck you and your GF! :toast:

well we are getting them for each other. we both have $100 maybe a little more each to pick whichever one we like. sorry i should have explained that better. I'm leaning toward the volt for myself from smokelessimage.com does anyone have any experience with these?

Volt is a KR808D-1 if I am not mistaken, and lots of folks like them.

A cartomizer system is probably the most trouble free and easiest for a newbie to adapt to. Do a search on this site and you'll find a wealth of info about cartomizers and atomizers. Regardless of how much you smoke, you and your girlfiend are going to want two batteries each. It takes a good 3-4 hours for a batt to charge and you'll want one to vape on while the other is charging. Acessories that should be high on your "to get" list are a PT for each of you and wall adaptors so you can vape off of a wall outlet while kicking back at home. I'm going to recommend you head over to Smokeless Image | Only The Best Electronic Cigarette | Starter Kits and check em out. The Volt is reaonably priced and has been getting rave reviews around here. Wall adapters are dirt cheap and can be found here. 2 amp AC to USB Adapter, ideal for Passthroughs

Hi, I am a "Newbie also....After vaping only a few months my suggestion is to get a couple of RIVA 510 Kits. That will give you 2 complete e gigs. The "juice" is subjective....according to your own taste. get some extra filler....and if you are a Menthol smoker , maybe some Menthol Crystals or Menthol Juice.
I am more of a 'visual' person myself, so I find that to go to Google and find e-cig "how-to" videos, that it will really help. :)

ecigg.org has a pretty good deal on a 510 kit that includes a pcc for around $55. To stay under $100 the two of you would need to share the pcc and get the second lite starter kit plus a bottle of juice. (Anxiously waiting for my kit to arrive as it takes a while to get to Belize). I have also seen some decent deals on KR808D-1 kits like the Volt and others that would suit you as well.

It also sounds like you want to emulate smoking as much as possible so choose a kit with the auto batteries, however vaping is NOT the same as smoking so don't get caught up into trying to duplicate smoking.

The Smokeless Image Volt is getting some wonderful reviews and I have to admit that I've eyeballed this e-cig myself. The threading is a KR808D-1, so finding replacement parts is going to be very easy. They have a pretty cool looking PCC which I find appealing. You might this a decent kit for you to start with, but it may get old charging batteries after a while. The amount of time that your battery will last between charges is going to depend heavily on how much you use it. The more you vape, the more your battery life is going to be affected.

If you want a good starter kit that looks like a cigarette then I don't think you can go wrong with this kit.

Try it. It gets good reviews.

I got a 510 for my nephew that was going on a trip from ivape. Came with an auto and manual battery and a pcc for $35. The reason for the price is smoke was misspelled on the pcc. It was spelled 'smole'.

Some people feel the need for something that looks like a cig when they start. I wouldn't spend a huge amount in case you find the batteries don't work for you. The volt doesn't seem that expensive.

Edit: I just looked and it's $94? You can almost buy a Reo for that. Or three ego kits.

The price isn't any better, but here are V4L's starter kits for comparison shopping. I think the PCCs are what is driving the cost up. It looks pretty cool compared to the M series PCCs.

Vapor King Premium E-Cig Kits and Cases - Vape On!

808s are kind of pricy to start with, but I am considering getting one. My 401 is great, but it has limited cartomizer options. I think in the long run, my 401s will likely stay home and be my flavor machines. I'll likely carry an 808 PCC once I decide on an all-day liquid.

Large battery units simply don't appeal to me. I don't run out of power, I have a problem carrying bulky supplies. A bigger PV isn't going to solve that issue for me, but a slimmer PCC might. I still have pondering to do.

I hope this helps the OP.

Welcome. I am four months being analog free. I started with the Riva 901. I quit a 22 year pack a day habit the first day it came in. I started with filling carts. The only drawback with the carts I had was filling every 15-20 draws. I recently switched to the echo carto's. These things are great, and work on my 901 threading. Just yesterday I bought a starter echo 1300 kit with 5 extra cartos from Bill at d and b gold. starter kit and carto's came to 62.00 (best price out there). I don't have a link for him, but you can find it in the model specific ego type forum. Also, I was a Marlboro menthol smoker at the tine I quit. My exclusive daily vape is Wicked Sick Menthol from Juicy Vapor. I hope this helps in your decision. This site was very helpful when I decided to quit. Best of luck. 7-2.

Here's what I would do and it might sound stupid, might not.

I would find the cheapest kit I could that had two batteries, a charger and either at least two atties or several cartos. Not some off brand mind you but a decent pv for a low price. And without the immediate goal of quitting with that take a day or two with it each. See if the batts are going to be good enough for each of you, see if changing them so often is going to bother either of you, see if the feel of the ecig is going to be something for you. THEN, I would decide on a full out purchase.

You might find that one of you wants something with a bigger battery, you might both love the smaller ones and just need to get additional accessories. You might both want something bigger. If you get a good enough deal on what you start with you should still have plenty left to even buy two RIVA (ego clone) starter kits, some juices and such.

You might end up spending a bit more if you both stay with the smaller batteries having to buy the pcc for what you have separately later on but you don't risk ending up with two full kits of something you really decide isn't going to be what you want.

That's just my opinion, but it really is what I would do if I could do it all over again.

Yep, totally subjective, and overwhelming because of that fact.....

You can search, and see my first thread here. I was hell bent on an analogue clone and menthol only. My 2c is to get over it. Not to be harsh, but once you've vaped for 2+ weeks, you'll understand.

For me, having come from your point of view, the larger capacity battery of the riva510 is quite a convenience over the mini style, and as far as only menthol, the flavors are just good. period. Also, don't be afraid of the manual battery. Replacement cost isn't as expensive for a mini, so if an mini auto shorts out it's not a big loss. But you'll see the higher capacity batteries are mostly manual type. Also, if you have higher capacity batts, then a PCC is a hassle you don't have to mess with (1 less thing to keep track of), IMHO.

I would recomend a Riva 510 to anyone interested in vaping because it has few shortcomings for a NOOB, and initial investment vs longevity is reaaaaly good (after 3 months of 3+ml/day (2 batteries per day), the Riva 510 batteries just started wearing out). Boge cartomizers are the bomb, btw.

Cart/atty setups are nice for trying flavors, but cartomizers are the shizzle for their ease of use, low maintanance, overall performance, and pocketability (doesn't leak in your pocket with the condoms on!).

Final summary: go to liberty-flights.com, use coupon code october20, get a riva 510 kit, a 5pack of 2ohm Boge cartomizers, 30ml "menthol mix", as well as 2 5ml flavors you think you'll love, and 1 5ml flavor you're not sure about (go ahead, give it a try). It will cost you less than $75, and at less than a pack a day, should last you close to a month, with cartomizers to spare, and atties (included in the starter kit) for trying other peoples juice.

if you ask 10 people, you will get at least 5 different answers. There's my answer.

SO, go get sumptin to toke on and let us know how it goes :D
Good luck!
