Ok, first of all, I'm on week 3 with my eGo-T. About a year ago I tried the Volcano 510 and then the GLV big battery unit with both 510 and 702 atty's, but eventually gave up on them due to too much hassle messing with cart mods and constantly refilling them and what not. Definitely not convenient if you're out and about.
I got an email from American E-liquid about the eGo-T and read a bunch of reviews and decided it was just what I needed. Decent battery life and nice big tanks to hold plenty of liquid.
I had problems right off the bat with both my atty's. I was vaping VG juice, not super thick but thicker than most PGs. Since the kit came with two batts and two atty's I was using both. Both of them seemed to be working fine the first day, but by day two they were both dumping liquid till it choked the airflow and ended up running down the mouthpiece. I was so frustrated with it. Then I read about adjusting the wick which I quickly found was pretty ridiculous.
After messing around with it and a bunch of emails with Vicki at Cignot, I figured out how to remove the needle plate. I soon figured out how to make my own wicks and now have two weeks of good vaping and have almost totally stopped analogs other than at first break at work when I bum a smoke of one of the guys. I ordered stronger juice, hoping it will help. 12mg isn't enough I think.
Anyways, it seems to me that the primary problem with the eGo-T is the wick. Either it wicks too much and leaks or it doesn't wick fast enough and you get nasty dry hits. Part of this has to do with the juice you're using, part of it is just the difference in the original wick.
My mod (
link can be found in my signature) will allow you to make a new wick and tweak it until you find what works best for you and your juice. I think I've finally got it down now for my 50/50 mix I've been using. If it starts giving me problems, I can completely replace it in a few minutes.
Since "solving" my wick problems, my only gripe is the loss of flavor. Same juice will taste ok sometimes and other times is almost tasteless. I've ordered some double and triple flavor juices from gourmet vapor and hope this will help bring some flavor back. The fact that the flavor seems to disappear with the tank atty has me stumped.
Someone had said that the wire mesh around the coil is what feeds the juice to the coil, but I don't think it is supposed to. How does the juice feed from the mesh to the coil, are there holes in the side of the coil cup that I can't see? If that is how it is intended to work then why does the wick go directly to the coil?
On another note, the current atty's are on version 2 right now. Hopefully they will get better with the next version. Also looking forward to the bigger tank! I've been going through about 4 tanks a day, would be nice to cut that to two as long as there aren't any leaking issues cause that'd be a lot of juice to leak!
MAKE SURE YOU CHECK OUT MY WICK MOD AND LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK!!!!
