I thought an aerosol was a liquid under pressure that is forced into submicron sizes due to the Bernelli effect... and a vapor is formed due to temperature differences...

such as spray paint... and steam as examples..

"Vapor" is technically a gaseous state. "Aerosol" is a suspension of particles of liquid and/or solid in a gas. The "vapor" or "cloud" from an e-cigarette is technically an aerosol.

.......while vaping isn't 100% safe, no, but it is vastly safer than smoking.... and sorry I call BS on the it's not safe around kids....that was one of the biggest reasons I switched, I chose to smoke not my children and I'm not going to give them second hand smoke inhalation
and while vaping may (MAY) give second hand nicotine, it's less than what you would get from eating fruits and vegetables [/QUOTE]

While I always think things around kids should be reasonably safe, no one has absolute proof of safety, but in the one environmental study I read about (sorry no link as I'm on my phone but it should be searchable as it eventually came out as part of a larger CDC study) the CA dept of environmental health (and you know what stickers those CA environmental people are like) tested exposure to vapor in a vape shop with lots of people standing around vaping. Pretty much a worst case scenario. Their net finding was that things like formaldehyde, known to be produced at low levels with vape gear, especially older generations like clearo type ego pens, were no higher than background, and there was no detectable nicotine in the air. So I think your kids are good on those parts. It would take quite a lot of evidence for me to buy second hand vapor as representing any significant danger.

BTW, that study inspection team did cite the vape shop in one area of concern . One of the employees had their lunch sandwich in the nicotine mixing stuff fridge. Really.

Non-smokers used to grumble to smokers about having to deal with smelling stinky cigarette smoke. You then switch to vaping, which if it has any odor it is pleasant yet they still grumble  …. They automatically assume that it is as harmful as smoking as they have been propagandized.

    Really wasn't that bad, BUT:
    1) Why launch immediately into teens and stay there. Vaping began for adults as smoking cessation.
    2) Why completely ignore cessation? Any responsible discussion would include both
    3) She says "We know, it's been proven, that nicotine is a highly addictive substance."
I still want to see that study. A fellow ECF'r after I questioned it (apologies - I forget who?), shared this site, and it confirmed and expanded my suspicions. Anyone with questions about nicotine, whether smoking, vaping, lozenges, patches, should definitely check out this: E-Cigarette Politics

As to that site, it's generally reasonable, but like anything don't believe it because you read it on the internet. Especially regarding addictive qualities of nicotine. While nicotine itself does not cause significant illness or is a carcinogen, there's plenty of evidence it is addictive. As with all addictive substances, people will vary in their risk for addiction, and the mechanism a substance is taken into the body does affect that.

Focusing on harm reduction and decreases in combustible tobacco use are solid arguments to support vaping. Suggesting nicotine is not addictive or harmful in any way ( and can be quite harmful to a small number of people with severe vascular responses to it) is not a good argument and only undermines any debate regarding vaping. BT pulled that one for years, including suppressing of studies that did demonstrate the addictive nature of nicotine, that to try and pull that same argument off only makes a person seem like a shill for BT, and working their own agenda while trying to play fast and loose on the facts. The vaping community is best served by honest sober and sometimes even boring facts that remain on point about the advantages and differences to cigarettes and their risks.

I think my customer must have been watching. Yesterday she said to me "oh you smoke"? I said I haven't smoked in over 7 years, she said "oh well vaping is the same thing". I earlier noticed she had an electrical fake fireplace and I said, is that the same as a wood burning fireplace and she said no and I said, it's the same thing, no difference. I then had to set her straight and she listened.

Yes, my house in FL came with a wood-burning fireplace. Trouble was the idiots who built it put a metal insert in it. After ~15 years of exposure to the salt air via the chimney, the metal insert was all rotted away. It would have been fine if they had stuck with traditional, all masonry construction. We ended up replacing it with a semi-real, unvented gas burning one. That was huge PITA because the rotted out metal insert was completely surrounded by masonry that all had to get torn off.
