Here are pictures of the pipes I have made. The first I built was a sherlock with a manual button. Unfortunately I had a short and it melted into an awful mess. Live and learn. For the next pipe, I used a auto 510 switch. I stabilized a cheap corn cob pipe in a vacuum with 50/50 polyurethane and acetone, then let it sit. I then gave it many more coats of polyurethane. I used epoxy as filler which I regret because it gave it a milky finish. For my next corn cob pipe, I will color the epoxy dark and sand it away so it only fills voids and looks natural. then I would give it a better finish and a glass polish. I used a winchester 12 gauge shell for the cap with the led in the center. Then of course the other pipe is a DSE 601-c.

And say.....how does that poly and acetone work as a stabilizer?.....Have be looking at using Minwax wood hardener.....but that stuff is hard to find.....Nice job man.....

Yea no problem! Thank you very much by the way. The switch on the top had a nickle plated cap. battery sat in the bowl snugly with a constant positive. The negative terminal was the button. That was made with a Chicago Style screw. I drilled a hole in the top cap, used a spring from a random electronic laying around and the Chicago Screw. The negative wire was soldered to the cap. when the button is pressed, it makes contact with the negative side of the battery.

It worked decent for me. I found on a pen stabilizing forum that trick. Apparently it the same formula that Minwax uses for their wood hardener. Being a very soft material, I was surprised the corn cob became so strong. Between the stabilizing and the extra coats of poly, it is now rock hard.

I'm guilty too Here let me start off with "A window into the adventures and misadventures of making e-pipe mods"

Case in point - A 18350 set-up to use a mini v-nova; slim carto tank; or a XL carto..In big leaf maple burl...

What a mess.....The Maple burl that I bought was too small in width for what I wanted to do...

The Easy Cast was a lot harder to work with than I thought....The open time is way to long...72 hours to cure...
Looking on YouTube about this...People are saying you can't sand this...Not true... sand to 6oo...buff with Tripoli then white diamond, but no wax.

The cast shank was too long(for me) so I trimmed about half of it off the brass tube...Then I never could get the two pieces to line up without a gap...so made a brass trim piece to hid that. Also had to re-drill the hole in wood part of shank...Drilled this free hand, so this was off. But epoxy fixed the oblong hole...(see picture)

I was going to use a o-ring for tight fit, but the shank is tight without it, so I didn't use the ring.

OK...I'm done whining about this....Does anyone want to see pictures of the finished pipe? It didn't turn out to bad....

If your just looking for stem maybe www.china-sells.com But I don't think very good quality, and some kind of weird plastic....

The K-Pipe (Kicked E-Pipe Mod)

Warning: This is going to be a long post boys and girls, so run for the exits now if you want to.

This pipe has three- threaded bowls- for a 18350; 18500; or a 18650 battery. Plus a shank extension, and two stems.

The wood is Spalted Peach Wood. The pipe is set-up with a shank(cone) for a mini v-nova; DCC slim tank; or a XL carto

This picture shows the thread system I used (Not my first choice, but it will have to do). The brass tube is for the cone, and extension.

These pictures show some of the parts and pieces....

This picture is mostly dealing with the Kick.....

This picture is about glueing the parts up....

The important thing here is getting things as straight as you can. I used 30min. epoxy for a long working time. Every thing that is not perfect, you hope will not show too bad......"Things happen"...

That about covers the build part. I know I more that likely left things out....Sorry...

Here are some pictures of the pipe in my hand, to show the scale of the pipe set-ups....

The 1865 with the extension and the long stem is a"Little over the top". So said the wife when she saw it.

I would like to say here, that the Kick has pretty much worked as it should. Sweet spot 7 to 8 watts....

Thanks 13oertjie.....I use the vision nova(mini) or a DCC slim tank(3.5ml)...In part because that's what I like, and for the form factor....

Theoretically you could use anything with a 510 connection....but to use the covered shank(cone) it would have to be no more than 15mm wide, and 45mm long....The long(or short) part could be fixed with another shank.....
