I figured out the problem with the switches so wanted to update whats going on with it. I spoke with someone from Smoktech as well as a few vendors about it.
The older switch, plastic with blue LED, can handle the LRs no problem. Ive been using the Ressurectors since day one with no problems whatsoever.
With the new switch with the white LED, since it has the new 5-click on/off, they had to re-do all the internals for it. What they failed to tell people, is that the new one is NOT rated to use anything lower than 2.0ohms. So then that is obviously why people are having problems with it using 1.7ohms or below. I have no idea why they did that or why they decided to just change it and not tell anybody, but..yeah.
Since obviously they started to get all kinds of complains from vendors, users, etc that used cartos lower than 2.0ohm before, since now the cartos people have always used are now not working on the new switch they immediately re-did the internals AGAIN and fixed the problem.
SO, yzer you were right with the switch issue. Smoktech royally f'd up and decided to leave out that the new one was not rated to use anything lower than 2.0ohm. When you do try to use something lower, it will just flash like you said. I did order one, with a new spring too, but havent gotten it yet, but I assume that I will have the same problem since I use the Ressurectors.
Fortunately they have fixed the problem though. They re-did the internally on the new white LED switch and now it is rated to use up to 1.25ohm cartos. Obviously it wasnt fast enough though bc alot of people bought the new one and are having the problem, me included(once I get it)
I spoke with Brent from Hoosier tonight and he is waiting on the order for the ones that are meant for LR cartos. He said he is prob going to sell the current ones that cant go below 2.0ohm at a discount for people that use SR attys/cartos and once their gone, just carry the LR switch which will work with LR and SR. I was told from Brent and the guy from Smoktech that the fixed one will be able to handle up to the 1.25ohms, so basically all LRs.
So for anyone that has an E-Power and had a problem with the newest switch, I hope this helps clear up the issue.
If your planning on getting the new switch, I would wait alittle for the new ones to come in if you use LRs. I assume mines gona cause the same problem so Im going to send it back when it comes in this week and wait for the new one. Im going to talk to Andrew from CCV tomorrow. I assume hes already heard about this and will prob get the fixed ones too. I had ordered it from there and Im pretty sure right now he only has the ones that are rated for 2.0ohm or above. But since he refuses to carry crappy stuff, I figure he will also get the newer LR white button one that will handle below 2.0ohms as well as SRs.
Im not sure when Brent is getting them in but he said he was waiting on them so I figure it will be soon. Smoktech already fixed it, Brents just waiting on the shipment. So for anyone that is going to order one, I would wait alittle and call the vendor before you order it to make sure its the switch rated for LRs.
So I hope this helped for anyone that got the new white LED switch with the 5-click on/off. If you use attys/cartos below 2.0ohm and already purchased the white LED switch, I would send it back and wait for the fixed one. The fixed one is rated to use up to 1.25ohms so that should fix the problem people are having.
Thanks to Yzer for bringing this issue to light and stirring up my curiosity to figure out what the heck was going on with it.
Even though I havent had any problems with mine yet, and all my original components have worked flawlessly, I did order the new switch just to have the 5-click on/off, but I figure when my switch comes in Ill have the same problem. I wouldnt mind having the option to use a 5-click on/off feature, but without being able to use below 2.0ohms, it would be useless!!
Hopefully the fixed one is problem free and will work great with attys/cartos below 2.0ohm!
And FINALLY the 14650 E-Power will be a pretty bad-... affordable 3.7V PV!
(Ha it only took 4 tries to get the switch right, way to sheet-the-bed Smoktech!)
