i am flying tomorrow... i called the airport... spoke to security... the girl knew exactly what an ecig was.. and she said NO PROBLEM>>>.. she even said to me.. i think you should smoke it on the plane .. she said she thought it would be hilarious.. i then asked for her name and wrote it down.. LOL......... so hopefullly on my way back the san antonio airport feels the same way. im leaving out of southwest florida airport.....I really suggest to put your mind at ease.. call the airport security.......

Just remember - airport security ends when you board the plane. On the plane, the pilot's decision is *law*. Ask the flight crew before you vape.

Occurs to me that pilot and crew are probably unsure whether vaping might not trigger a rage/hysterics tantrum from antismokers.

So I don't think I'll vape on a flight.

Just a thought.

It won't hurt to ask. If the flight attendants smoke, and they don't know about vaping yet, it may get interesting. I don't vape in the open on a flight. Usually on a 2 to 3 hour flight, I'll go to the lavatory one time, and take a hit. Suggestion: If you vape in the lav, blow the vapor down. I don't know if the vapor is capable of setting off the smoke alarm. (They're very sensitive.)

My new EVO went through security with no problems. I just left it in my purse.

Was discreet on plane, so no issues there. Wasa very enjoyable flight!

TSA can be idiots at times. It's best to keep a low profile, and not risk losing your e-cig for some stupid reason.

I just flew from Edinburgh->London Heathrow->Bangalore. In all that was around 15 hours from edinburgh->india. My 901 was in my carry on bag, along with around 5 carts and a spare battery. In my case I had around 60 carts, 2 super minis and another 901 battery and atomiser (I'm in India for 3 weeks).

Had no problems at security, vaped in the toilet on the long haul flight, and a little in my seat when everyone else was sleeping - the plane was pretty empty.

Every time I fly Alaskan Air, I tell them what it is ahead of time, and I call it a vaporizer, and they have no issues, but on American Airlines, I actually read in their magazine, under prohibited items "Electric Cigarette". I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that.

Wow I knew it was only a matter of time before they caught on. I have noticed though, that when I vape around my wife it gives her a headache. And sometimes she acts manic because of the nicotine. She'll start to say funny stuff. Kind like she had too much nicotine. (and she quit smoking 4 years ago and doesn't vape) So maybe some of the people flying have been afftected by it. And of course there are the smoking nazis that just have a problem with anything that resembles a cigarette. To bad we don't have an "invisible" liquid.

I asked an american airlines flight attendant and she told me that they had a meeting about it last month.
They were told that the e-cig is considered an electronic device and it is not approved for use on the airplane. They say that only the electronic devices listed in the safety brochure are allowed to be used during flight like laptops, mp3 players, dvd players, etc. I wouldnt take the chance.... I will wait to e-smoke in the bathroom in the airport, lol!

I'm a Flight Attendant and I vape while I'm on the plane all the time, outta sight of the passengers of course. :D

As long as you don't blow your vape right into the smoke detector it WON'T go off (I blow it down the drain myself, cause even too much hair spray in the Lav can cause it to go off) so you can totally go into the Lav and get your nic fix. Other than that its pretty much up to the Flight Attendants if they'll allow you to do it openly. Everyone will tell you something different on what they've heard or what they've read as far as the companies rules on it. Trust me, we love to just make it up as we go if we don't really know the answer...lol! :p

For me myself I would tell a passenger asking about vaping on the plane that if they wanna go into the Lav and do it they can, but due to the fact that OTHER passengers might have a problem with it I can't allow them to vape in the cabin.

Hope this helps!

EDIT: Just noticed I already posted something about this awhile ago in this thread already.....Post #168.

Yup, the drain on the bathroom sink sucks the water right out, and presumably the air too! On Virgin Atlantic 747s I just held open the drain and blew the vapour down there. Same probably applies to the lavatory flush, but I didn't fancy sticking my face down the bowl
Yup i remember in the mid 90's when most International flights went Non-smoking, the complimentary feminine hygiene pads in the lavatories were disappearing due to smokers taping them to the detectors and blowing smoke into the sink!

In three days I leave from Green Bay and fly to chicago from chicago to vegas. I plan on using mine the whole way. I'm not sure what flite the wife has us on, I think it's United Airlines. My wife and the other couple I go with are all heavy smokers. They kinda pick on me a little for vaping and say it's going to get confiscated in security. Finally I told them all when I am on the plane vaping away in pure comfort, and they are pulling their hair out, not to come crying to me cause they are not getting any. Maybe I could sell it to them for a buck a drag.

Well I am back. Thought I would let everyone know how it went. In all the airports I vaped right out in the open. No problems whatsoever. On the plane, (it was United airlines by the way) I vaped in my seat but tried to be as discreet as I could about it. No problems at all. I think as long as you talk to the people you are sitting directly next to it won't be a problem.

Btw, I came back with more money than I left with. Which is nice, lol.

Delta Airlines has a no e-cig policy. I spoke with a flight attendant at great length about them. She old me that since delta doesn't allow them that it is a FAA Violation and if I did Vape on the plane they would fine me Thousands of dollars. I didn't risk it and went into the bathroom and vaped away. Ecigs will not set off the smoke detectors.

I think a security concern might top any health concern. How easy would it be to make our little tube or pipe into a weapon? Hmmm. Could it be used as a triggering device? I would not be surprised if an airline said "no" to boarding with it.

That is the reason I check my pv when flying. Of course they're going to be suspicious of a little metal tube that lights up in a place where you have to take off your shoes to go through security and you can't board with a normal sized bottle of shampoo.

Cool Thread. Nice hints on flights.

I spent a night in the hospital last week, recovering from an inguinal hernia surgery. Started to vape 1 hour after I got recovered from the anesthesia. Spent the whole day and part of the night vaping, watching TV and talking to friends on the Internet. Just was careful so the nurse wouldn't catch me puffing, LOL... :)

No reason to do that as far as I can tell.

I've flown a number of times with my Chucks, and with normal 510 setups.
I just put them in the tray with my shoes and run them through.

I keep waiting for someone to say something, or ask me about them.
So far, no one has even said a word.
