It feels like picking the right PV is a science! LOL For me durability would be important, I dropped my phone face down on the pavement a couple of times and I am always relieved it still works :p
Value for money is also important for sure this is why I was debating these two choices..... It looks like the Provari has the most fans but I will check out some of the other suggestions as well, thanks guys!

The eVic is easier to adjust by taste without looking at it--just twist the ring one way or the other--no menu diving. OTOH, it's also easier to view info on. One short click of the fire button and you can see wattage, voltage, resistance, and battery status, all at once--without twisting it to be horizontal. The latter can be challenging to view right side up, depending on the hand holding it.

i have 3 evics and a provari. evics are great if you get the v2 with the screw holding the head on instead of the press fit. they are the only chinese device that compares to a provari. my issue with it? 5v. its basically a twist with a puff counter when it comes down to it. still, gotta love my evic. no other device gives as good of a hit on a protank. i feel like they were made for eachother

I see the OP has stated im not going to drop the mod so is the provari really better?
so the next question is better at what?

every chinese mod so far is using the exact same regulation chip for voltage, and they all make this rattlesnake sound. the voltage will fluctuate some will you notice? depends on you.

the china board runs at 33.3 hz and sounds like a can full of pennies when fired, the provari runs at a 800hz cycle, pretty high and makes the coil run almost similar to a dc mechanical mod. to me i feel a smoother vapor, not better just smoother.

the chipset is proprietary and built by provape for only the provari. the voltage circuit is so accurate the voltage will be exactly what you set to .01v 4v=3.99 to 4.01 and will stay at that exact setting until the battery is dead. many other devices vape fine but cannot maintain this degree of accuracy for the life of the battery, and the fluctuation on some is noticeable.

you said you dont drop things and i see this point, but you have never in your life knocked something off the table or desk?. theres nothing worse then watching 100 dollars fly in 6 different directions after contacting the tile the wrong way.

when people ask my about the menu i show them, yea 6 here 9 there. but the main feature is 5 presses away the voltage adjustment, and after about 2 hours you forget about it and it becomes second nature. honest its not as annoying as people make it out to be.
its more steps and work to get a phone number out of my phone.

i would say if your looking for well made and only interested in buying something once get a provari, if your interested in having a couple, or bells and whistles buy something else.
they all work, they all vape. but they are not all the same.
if you get a PV first the last worry you have is remembering to charge the batteries. you even forget about having a backup after a while.
so it is ultimately up to you and your personality, do you want to play now and get something rugged and proven to last later or do you o buy something now that you never worry about again and then play with other stuff as it catches your eye, theres a good sale , look at these new features.etc.

there is a reason reviewers and threads like this compare everything to a provari. watch pbusardos review of the PV and it will help.

i own 3, i have other mods, but i will never let the provari go. i also have 2 cracked tiles at work now. lol the only time i personally saw a broken provari is when i tore the button off putting a screwdriver inside to pop the topcap off. and i sent it to provape and got a repair for way less then other mods cost.

if he is refering to the provari error code card, you dont need to bring it with you. you never get errors on it unless you turn the voltage way to high or the heating element is shorted out. or if your setting up an rba lol, ive gotten every possible error setting up my z-atty. but anyways, you definetly have picked the two best mods out there. my suggestion would be to get the provari first then the evic. that way you dont have to worry about the evic breaking since you have the provari.

and yes i do have quite the collection. but, when i go out, the only ones i bring out with me are my provari and my sigelei 19. i dont trust the others to make it through work

Fair enough... I think I will just have to take the plunge and see for myself it took me six months to decide on a new cellphone, I do not want to repeat that process LOL I will just go with the provari because I am super impressed with the durability stories (and I am a clumsy one with expensive toys, like dropping my laptop behind the radiator) I guess for taste it is very personal, as I hear both provari and e-vic being praised for taste, so I am sure I will like either one of them on that front, for sure it will be an improvement over de Ego C I have now :)

provape doesnt offer custom finishes but many modders do.
there are a couple candy apple red and green with a translucent paint that look wicked floating around here, theres even 24k gold ones.
im working on a brushed SS one now.
im never going to soapbox and state the provari is the best mod ever created, but in its class it is the best one.
i dont really have the super collector hobby mentality when i started vaping i wanted to buy something once and be done with it.
it wasnt until 7-8 month later i wanted to play with other things. and i do. and they are fun to play with. but except for my semovar and mech for dripping, they all sooner or later collect dust and end up being sold off as to me the vape just isnt the same.
i personally just dont enjoy the cool features enough to enjoy the less then stellar performance.

but i fully believe in free will and not eveyone wants the same things from the stuff they buy.
