ok I want my check from microcig, send 50% TO NAV AND THE REST TO ME.

i TOOK A new 510 xl, cut out the wicks, shaped the wick i cut off into a ptb type shape after making a knot in it, placed it in just like i would have the ptb, did that to the other side and walla.

I think ceo would be a good position for me over there at microcig, you think?

Now it just need to be done properly
How well did your 510 XL work when you took it out of the box? Does it work better after the modification?

would this work?

The ring is not a silicone ring anymore, it's metallic.
The problem is that the ptb is inside the thick rim of the drip tip, so the rim would have to be shortened and thinned out. The removable metal ring itself, which holds the ptb attached to the drip tip, would also serve the purpose of the upside-down inner cap.
_______

When you remove this drip tip/top, you actually remove the carto wick with it (which is the ptb stuff), and its ready to fill. The advantage here is also that this wick is easily replaceable (only as needed) by simply removing the wedged metallic ring that holds it in place. The short tube-like wick that goes on the drip tip could also be sold pre-formed, pre-made.
So far, my tip works fairly well without all that crap. I am still testing it instead of jumping to conclusions.

Br would you be able to produce and sell a few of the tips with a metal ring like I mentioned?
The crap as I see it was actually the charred wick all under the cup, but I removed 3 to 4 inches of it, and totally cut the rest of it off, there is no wick in operation, except for the coil wick, and the circular wick which is easily replaceable and attachable to the Br-top

I know you're testing yours, but I meant the way I described it, with the shorter rim and very thin. Then a metal ring is wedged in there to hold the circular wick in place.

I wouldn't even think about making such a thing.

Why would I want a shorter rim? Why would I want a circular wick?

But then, if you were any kind of a machinist, you would know that a narrow groove turned with a lathe in the end of a shaft is a real ....., especially if it is as small as this one.

ok , heres what i did just now, took a new leaky xl 510.
i then lifted the wick on one side, not all the wick but the looped part that comes out which means theres still one strand of wick in there on that side, i then took the loop part and tucked it in like ptb, repeated this on the other side and it now works like it should
cup is sturdy and there is no leaks. So this issue is fixable with the wick thats already there.

Look guys. It may not sound like it, but I am not knocking the ptb experiments. I have been and I am still running tests with it. I may even be doing tests with it after everyone here has forgotten about it and moved on to the next crisis. I'm just an old man, so maybe I can't test things as fast as you kids do.

So right now, I have a KR808 XL that does not wick well enough for normal use. I was hoping that the ptb would fix it. It didn't. I went by banjoman's method and did not cut the wick. Had I done so, I would not have found out that the ptb on one side is soaking wet and that it is dry as a bone on the other. I don't know why. I am going to eat something and take a nap.

37 so far, and still working like new. Just cleaned and dry burned today, and the wick came up white, yet again.

I had read about the xl 510s getting hot, but even at the mid way setting on my little sister it is not getting too hot, just a little warm. I prefer the taste at the lowest setting.
I can't test the volts, or ohms, because I have no testing equipment. I just go by what tastes best.

Don't know what you have, but the 510s with a black label do not get as hot as the bare stainless.

I go by what tastes best too. Voltage is just something to talk about.
