Br , I used your mod of using the top cap and no inner cap , just pushed the outer cap down to the cup for a good seal , then I took a mouth piece condom with a small hole in the center and use the condom over the mouth end of the carto . It is working great so far and even has a small excess juice and or moisture reservoir between the condom and the outer cap .

Thanks for trying it John. This is just a test at this time to find out if the seal works with different revisions, juices, etc. Of course it wouldn't hurt to know if the rubber gets too hot on equipment other than mine. So, keep us posted on how it continues to work.

I posted the quote below today on the other thread and thought to post here:

I'm fairly certain slow wicking has been causing the burnt taste on the 808 CE2 I'm testing. I tried it on my friends Wetbox last night since mine is down. It hit great at first, but even w/ pumping juice it shortly developed a burnt taste.

It has amazing vapor/taste when it's 'on'. The initial refill did great, I took 15/20 hits back to back. Ever since the second refill it tasted burnt, although by sitting a while the taste comes back. I could try some of the earlier mods or just wait for the new ones.

I look forward to the latest revisions. If these can get more consistent then I'll replace my old stash no question about it.

I read back and 'br', your suggestions may be the issue w/ this one. I don't think it's gunk buildup as it happened on the second refill and does hit great if you let it sit, so it must be a wicking issue.

The gunk build-up and the wicking issue might be the same thing. Considering the juice has to travel into the gunked-up area of the wick that's wrapped by the coil, anything that interferes with that would affect taste. Even when using a WetBox you're still just pumping liquid on an already gunked wick.

Wow, that's one heck of a batt! I'd like to see pictures too. I need to get mine back in operation..

Turbo , It's just a "C" size batt. box from Madvapes modded into a copy of the Wetbox , just a bit bigger LOL with a 10ml bottle in it , lots of room in that box .
The battery is from DX . Don't know how to post a pic . Not very good on computers or typing and spelling but can build lots of mods .

I see your point, but would it happen on the second refill using mostly PG/light juice mix? And the flavor does return when letting it sit. I need to get my Wetbox back up and running so I can do a dry burn.

You know, at first I thought it was just *my* juice because it tends to gunk up pretty fast anyway, but now I'm wondering if the coils on these run so much hotter they're baking the juice and gunking up that little section of wick faster. They clean easy enough, but they do run hot.

What makes y'all think the coils run hot?

These coils are exposed to high velocity cold ambient air the entire 3 seconds y'all vape.

Your description certainly does sound like a wicking issue. I have never seen an 808 E2, so would not even make a guess as to why. If the filler ring is creating a problem though, it's easy to find out. Just remove the ring and temporally tailpipe the thing for several hits.

I have never experienced what I would call a burned taste from an E2. I have experienced what I call a dry taste, which occurs if the wick does not keep up, or when the reservoir is empty. I am wondering if my dry taste is the same thing as the burned taste that other people have.

For me, a burned taste is what I got when the filler burned in the an old type cartomizer. I mean like, that thing tasted Burnt!

Bingo !

Bingo Again !!!

These coils are exposed to high velocity cold ambient air the entire 3 seconds y'all vape.

Someone posted a picture of a thermal sleeve to wrap around wires. The gunk acts like that sleeve but in reverse.

It keeps heat in and doesn't allow the wick to pass juice to the coil wire.

The wire can't shed heat to the juice, in physics terms - no work is performed, so the wire builds up heat. This heat eventualy chars the gunk and the user gets the burnt taste.

Think of it as what happens when you do a dry burn. Only now the user is breathing the chared gunk.

My mouth thinks that my E2 runs hotter than one of my early type 510 cartomizers. Both types have the same resistance. Both consume the same power. However, the E2 has a thinner filament and gets hot a lot quicker. Therefore, the heat is there for a longer period of time. So that's why I think the coils run hot.

Heat is a Funny beast. Theres Conduction, Radiation and Convection. Heat also at a measured point and heat at a source are two different things.

If your mouth is closer to the same heat source doesn’t it feel hotter at your mouth. If less heat is absorbed by the surrounding, won’t more heat get to your mouth? If there is a larger, unobstructed path to your mouth, shouldn’t more heat radiate towards it?

Yes, but with an exposed coil, the user may 'feel' a warmer coil than if it was wrapped up in a dirty sock. haha :)

hi jjrose, I have so many and lost track of them, I did do a successful burn-clean like in bad's video once tho. 16 days is realy a lot, and how many times do you fill-up a day approx.?

4-5 refills a day. clean and dry burn every third day.
I can't wait to get my hands on the ceramic ones.

Bingo!! What do I win? :)

The longest I've had one last (a 510) is about a week. That means about 20 or so refills and 6-8 cleanings. My juice is rough on anything, though...

If I was still using my old stuff (Vermont Vapor Cool Mint), I'd probably still be running on the same set of cartos. That stuff was fairly clear and easy on my attys.
