I just did the ptb thing. Six plys between the slots and the tube. The vape is very good. But then the vape was very good before putting it there. What am I doing wrong?

(edit add: I don't know about wrong, but let's start by finding what's different)

Maybe too many plies?

Also did you put 1 or 2 plies between the wick and the metallic outer shell?

If deemed possible and non hazardous, did you cut ALL the wick off except for 1/2 to 1 inch of it? That's all the wick the coil needs.

Also, I have a feeling that you're using a drip tip, I'm not.

Syringes do not appeal to many smokers, someone needs to let them know. It,s not good marketing, when so many people don't want to mess with syringes, the FDA filed an appeal and the fda is back in national news wanting to regulate the U.S. and the last thing the U.S. needs is the new E2 that will now require people to buy syriges!.

I fail to see this. Lots of people use syringes for various reasons and I seriously doubt that it's anything the FDA even considers.

Still there are lots and lots of countless people who do not want to mess with syringes, and THEY will have the fda help them. The fda doesn't consider, that's not how they operate, they operate out of money more than anything, especially consideration. If syringes do not appeal to some people, they may not use the syringe per se, except to worry lawmakers at targeted moments. The fda is not judge Leon, if you talk about 'consideration' when it comes to syringes, judge Leon would operate out of consideration more than the fda. Unfortunately, the fda has filed an appeal to judge Leon's decision all ready.

But my point was mostly about the bad marketing. If there can one day be a billboard to get smokers to switch to vaping I can already see a syringe in the e2 commercial. Thre are already commercials on TV. and with the current fda, there is no reason to make things easier for the fda. Anyway, it's about marketing, and many smokers do not want syringes, I know many of them, in fact every smoker I know does not want to mess with syringes when it comes to smoking and vaping.

Requiring people to HAVE TO buy and use syringes to fill the ecig is what I thought needs improvement...and without extensive messing with the carto. Simply unscrewing the top part would be a reasonable alternative. IF some people just love syringes, and some do, they can still simply keep using them, just don't unscrew the top.

OK, I dinked around a little more by beefing up the amount of PTB in the e2. Instead of making it 2-ply, I found that 4-ply gives a little less "slop" between the inside of the e2 and the ceramic cup. With the 4-ply, the vapor is a bit denser, too.

And now that I'm on nicotine overload, I think I'd better start thinking about hitting the hay. With my insomnia, though, it's entirely possible that I'll be back sooner rather than later :)

I've been reading this off and on and am trying to get this in my head.. fold a piece of PTB twice which gives it a four ply thickness. Make two of these and place on either side of each slot?

Is this right? How long/wide does it have to be?

BanjoMan said he used about 6 or 8 plies. I put my 6 plies between the wick and the metallic shell. I will NOT cut off my wick. It works very well like it is. I do own a drip tip and have no use for one. I tail piped it. However, if this thing does not work any better, I will remove the ptb and put my prototype filler tip back in there..

Br, I edited my post, I didn't mean what you're doing wrong...
I was starting by seeing what you're doing differntly

but Bad is right, cut the wick if you properly can
it's amazing that it's not needed :)

The original XXXL wick is also kind of charred in some spots, I'm not sure but it's possible that it may affect the flow of nicotine through those spots. There is no need for all that excess wick, and not all of it is properly routed.

Still less sure about the following...but if there is a relatively drier spot at or near the lower parts where they get charred, it may even result in a tug of war over the liquid, some could be pulled up, but some could be pulled down. When the carto is almost empty, but not too empty that there is still plenty that could reach the cup/carto liner ptb quicker than if it would have to travel through the long charred loops down there, is another possible time when the lining ptb at the cup could outperform the long, misrouted, charred, huge loops way down there, and also almost with an effect like in a tug of war over the liquid. (Bad's wickless carto could possibly within seconds flat or less, get the last 1/4 ml to quickly reach the cup area by merely holding the ecig withthe ash slightly upward. Almost 1/4ml could also get trapped between two charred points on a long needless wick, and even if it continues to travel through the needless wick, it would be much slower)

dont be shy BR, cut that wick like theres no tomorow, the results are asstounding,.

Thanks. Is it still not leaking w/ just the two pieces 'bad'? And, do you put the middle ring in upside down like 'banjo' does?

lol

well im amazed it works with no wick, mine are cut off on all of them right at the slits, and im not getting dry spots even after an hours of heavy use.
just to be certain you can even make the ptb thick at top and longer and thin at the bottom and letting some ptb hang in the tank a little, that would ensure a guaranteed soaking on the slightest tilt of the e2.

but as of now this has been flawless all day, and no im not exaggerating in the slightest, i have no leaking, i have no overwhicking, no juice is falling into the airflow stem, the vape is super clean and tasty and heavy in every vape and the ptb is not discoloring in any bad way as its not touching the coil. the juice is being used better in the sense it feels as its getting the juice to the coil perfectly and effeciently until there is little juice left.

Turbo, with the inner plug backwards on top of the cup then no leaks if i lay it on its side. with no inner plug it will leak on its side, butyes it solves the 2 main leaking issues.
but performance wise there is no leaks . no leaking form the stem, no leaking form the coil overwicking, all that is gone plus it vapes better .

Thanks again, great pics in btw. What's the length and width of your PTB pieces?

wide enough so the slits are covered and then some on both slits, this will leave you room on the sides with no slits to feed the juice inside.

i made mine as long as the cup(not the cup post just cup top) but thats up to you, you can play around and see what works best for you.
ill make another video hold on.

Super, will try tomorrow. I know I have some blue foam but don't think I have any PTB. I'll drop by the grocery store tomorrow.

I saw your edit John, but don't worry about it now. I tried the ptb on a perfectly good XL that will vape me silly just like it was, so I'll just go back to using it that way.

Ok Patty, but reload your pic, I can't see it.

I agree with y'all that ecf needs an e2 subforum

The e2 is certainly a good carto and can't be ignored or disregarded. Threads need to be better organized.
If there is a subforum called 'outside' or 'sandbox' I'm sure we definitely need a subforum for something as important as the e2. Granted, it's been only recently introduced, and people are still learning how to build them, but there is no excuse NOT to have an e2 subforum. Even if it's the last one on the bottom, past the sandbox, I don't mind, but we need this to better organized, instead of having good review videos, good issue pictures, good design suggestions, etc. all packed into hard to find places buried in 2,000 post threads.

Well you are in a sub-forum about cartomizers and cartomizer issues... its up to members if they want to create threads that solve specific issues... like with carts you see a PTB tip thread and a few Kr8 tricks threads.... there are too many cartos out there and some more readily available.. and I am sure other makers are developing as well... and to add a specific section for a carto that isn't widely use isn't feazable at the current time.... but you are right one thread with 2000 posts is hard to keep up with all of the tips...

I just now made one for a new carto, it's 4 plie, but i flattened them so much that I may try 6 next time.
So far so good, but this is after all, a new 808, and XL this time. Rather than making two pieces, I'm only going to use one for now. The horizontal length of it that goes around the cup is 2cm, and I took the needle cover/cap from the syringe, and wrapped it snuggly around the tip of it first. Then, holding the ptb and needle cover together, I put it in the carto and then released the ptb and allowed it to expand until it would fit between the cup and the carto. Once the ptb was slightly held in place by the cup and carto, I removed the needle cover and slowly worked it down until the top of it was flush with the top of the cup.

Oh, wait, one more thing, the 2cm leaves a small gap to use for filling, and just make sure when you first put the ptb into the carto while it's still wrapped arount the needle cover that the gap will end up between the slots, not at a slot, of course.

here some ptb video
Bad, while watching your video, I honestly believe that I am getting as much vapor as you are. The only difference is that I get too strong of a hit when I take a drag as long as you do.

Unlike you, I can't turn my cartridge upside down with the tip removed. If I do, the juice leaks out cause there is no plug in it.
