ECTA Bump List

ECTA aka Electronic Cigarette Trade Association has a facebook page. I was a member of the above said page until I disagreed with something they said.

Any one else here get booted for not being a ECTA wallflower?

I think they will do more harm than good for vaping in Canada.

They seem to think that defriending a member from their Facebook page will make an issue disappear. That is a very immature way of dealing with vaping issues in Canada.

If free vaping is ever to be accepted in Canada we have to have a united front. All negativity & positivity has to be equally addressed. Burring heads in the sand is not an acceptable way of ignoring an issue.

Is this the organization that we want representing us Canadians, to convince Health Canada that vaping is truly a healthier alternative to smoking cigarettes???

I agree with your post completely, the problem is that ecta is made up of ~10 vendors. So, it will never be a united front for Canadians. It will always be about their own interests.

Hmm... I didn't join the Facebook group as I couldn't find it the last time I tried and rather dislike Facebook, but I think if they want support from the rest of the community we should know which vendors they are?

I just took a look at the ECTA members, I couldn't have done a better job compiling a list of the most overpriced, under-achieving, greedy vendors in Canada.

Reminds me of a line from Jerry Seinfeld's stand-up act:

"Do the people that work in these shops in the airport have any idea what the prices are every place else in the world?
"Yeah, $14 a tuna sandwich. We think that's fair."

I'm not saying these kinds of vendors don't have their place in the market, if people are willing to pay 100% more for a hard drive at Future Shop rather than NewEgg or NCIX, for sure they'll be willing to pay 100% more for juice or an atomizer.

I just wish these people weren't the driving force behind the organization that's trying to regulate our industry.

I didn't make a pro canvape comment.

I just made a comment about them not promoting a united Canadian Vaping front, and not being honest with us Canadian vapers.

Very simple, all we want to do is have the freedom to make the decision on our own preference on nic intake in Canada!

Your post was put back up and if you're starting an "honest" CVA, then perhaps you should start off with directing your frustrations at the right target: TVN. I don't understand why you are so upset with ECTA when they are in just as much shock as Jay about what happened.

You may want to take a few steps back. Where you logged into TVN at the beginning of the program? I was. I asked very direct questions, & was given very direct answers. That is why I posted directly on the ECTA facebook page, from there I went here.

you're right... it wasn't TVN's fault... i stand by the statement that i didn't intentionally do anything wrong, however... Jeff (the TVN owner) recieved a complaint and the timing of my getting his reaction to the complaint lead to me being removed as a host...

Jeff, as a manager and owner, has to make decisions to protect his network... i have no bones with him about that! the timing sucked, but here's the basics... 5 hours before my show he sent me a message on skype... i didn't get it till 10 min before my show and we just didn't have time to properly sus it out... i argued and because of timing, he just shut the conversation down and kicked me... had i been at my computer when it first came up, i'm confident that we would have had the conversation, talked it out, figured it out and life would have carried on...

we are still talking, and the door isn't closed... i've just been asked to step outside till we sort it out... i may or may not re-enter but thats between jeff and i to figure out... noone else!

She's been reinstated? That's a laugh. How is that making anything better? Why was she banned in the first place? Who decided your public image would suffer from this and let's just reinstate her to shut her up?

I wasn't banned from the page, I left voluntarily. Almost every single person there talks crap about my (and tons of other people's) favourite vendor. There was absolutely no moderation, in fact, the admins of the page regularly got in on the bashing. It was disgusting.

Yes, the timing was bad. I just felt that what you said before, was turning people against TVN, which isn't necessarily justified. You guys obviously have something to work out. It does still irk me a bit that you won't say why it happened.

i found out 10 minutes before the show that i didn't have a show anymore and i wasn't a host at TVN...

i won't feed the drama monkeys... partially cause i don't care for drama and partially cause i have no idea why i was canned...

I'm about at the stage where I want to hoard a lifetime supply of nic juice.

The way things look in Canada,.... the only way I know I can vape till I cross the gates is to help myself, cuz I don't think any Canadian Association is looking out for me.

Just my opinion.

you're absolutely right... what i said wasn't neccessarilly correct or appropriate... i was a bit emotional and even though i was trying to be politically correct i still ended up being more snippy than i should have been...

i still don't have a specific offence or explaination of any specific offence... jeff and i have agreed to wait to talk it out tomorrow and figure out where we stand then...

i'm far from perfect and i wouldn't want to claim that i'm incapable of screwing up
