Everybody's experiences will be different and while I agree that the quality control might be a tad more strict at a company like Joye vs. the "knockoff" manufacturer it's not a guarantee that you're getting a better product and for me at least having a brand name doesn't justify spending the extra $xx.
Thanks Phil! We're nothing if not hot blooded in here. It must be the lovely summer weather we're having.. I'm just hoping that I don't have to reach for my Ice bucket!
Better quality control does make a better product! And now that joye seems to have lowered their prices with the new ego twists you're not exactly spending that much more money for a name brand product.

Quality control will ensure that all the different aspects of manufacturing are up to par, but whose to say that the parts themselves are better than the ones used in the knockoff factory next door? So you can't really say that it's the QC process that makes it a better product.
I have to agree with you on the eGo Twist though, Joye really pulled through on that one and I'm actually enjoying mine right now

most of the other companies selling egos actually use joye branded batteries inside their product. That's the problem. They are using mostly the exact same materials and design. They just aren't soldering them as well and not really checking for defects either.

Maybe you're right, maybe if we collected a large enough sample data for a particular product and compared the Joye vs. Brand X we might come to the conclusion that Joye does indeed offer a better quality product with a lower defect rate. All either of us are going on right now is personal experience, I've had a good experience with non-Joye products and you have not.

How would you know if he's not making a profit? Have you checked the wholesale prices in China? There is a substantial margin between what a vendor pays & what a vendor sells for. Now, before you point fingers, you need to realize the costs of doing business - staff / web hosting / site costs / returns of DOA items (there could be a lot, here) / shipments denied by customs / importing taxes & the list goes on. All vendors are gambling with the next greatest & latest gizmo. They can invest thousands on crap products that don't perform or break & have to absorb losses. Everything is paid for before it leaves China. Most of the time, it isn't worth the cost of shipping the defective crap back to China. At the end of the day, a vendor has to make a profit - most of them have made this only source of income & we need to respect that. If all or at least most of the Canadian vendors' prices are on par with our neighbours to the south - we're being taken care of. How can 1 vendor sell the same items for less? Simple answer - VOLUME - much like the way Wallmart keeps their prices mostly lower than their competition. Also keep in mind, any vendor may have other sources of income & don't require a full salary from their online business.
Although I am not a vendor, I've had the pleasure of discussing this topic with the bosses & they've explained some of these pitfalls. There are more but I hope I've opened some minds on this issue. As a Canadian vaper, we have choice & if there is something you don't like - there are other avenues.
