Hi,
I am new to making liquid and I just don't know how to basically just calculate on percentage, like I want to make 120 ml of liquid, a mix of 30/70 VG/PG and I have Natures Flavor liquid, but I just want to measure out how much in ML's of the flavor to use, I know I sound stupid but I just want to get it right here, and the drop amount is large on the spreadsheet so if you could please guide me, I would be forever grateful.

I'm having some problems with the drops count.

Base PG nic = 60mg
Target PG nic = 24mg
Amt. to be made = 10ml
VG = 30%
Flavor % = 4%

and I came out with:
PG w/ nic = 4.0ml (drops = 160)
PG (no nic) = 2.6ml (drops = 135)
VG = 3.0ml (drops = 84)
Flavorings = 0.4ml (drops = 13)

The ml works out but the drops count comes out double? What did I do wrong?

Section 8 is the control section for drops per ML you need to adjust your drops based on the ingredient your using, i.e. PG with nic uses less drops to = 1ml vs plain PG. Always measure the drops per ingredient to = 1ml if you are going to use drops. Also it depends on your dropper, each dropper produces a different drop rate.

That help?
Dan

OMG this is so confusing :confused: What if you have 100% base Nicotine? For example you want 70% PG/30% VG plus flavoring.

I've got to agree about the confusing part.

What does, "100% base Nicotine" mean? Is it 100% PG or VG?
Does "70% PG/30% VG plus flavoring" mean that you don't care how much the flavoring changes the PG/VG ratio?
Is the question where to put this data in Scubabatdan's calculator?

The base can be PG, VG or a combination of the two. This is set on using all PG or VG base, if you want 30% VG then put 30 in the VG block on the PG page in section one, since almost all flavoring is PG or alcohol based it is figured in as PG and is subtracted from the total PG to add in section 2. So the end result is a 70/30 PG/VG juice.

Make sense?
Dan

? Is v14 that much different? There should be ml amounts for each component. The drops number is driven from those ml quantities.

I'm still using v13 and pretty much just mix with ml measurements...I'm going to have to download the new one and see what is going on...

The drops control per ingredient was moved to section 8 along with the addition of the g/ml. Drops in section 2 are driven by the drop modifiers in section 8.

I know I'm not on here often, but enough to know that you contribute greatly to the community; and I wanted to Thank You!! I have a question; for the RY4 recipe on the calculator section, what Seedman Commercial concentrate is be referred to? Is it the TOB506?

Your welcome, yes the Seedmans is the TOB506 "Concentrate" not the premix.

Hello All,

I'm new to DIY and using this e-juice calculator and have a couple of questions. I do zero nic in all my e-jucies and purchase all my flavors at TFA/TPA.

I'm using the PG No-Nic Calculator part of the calculator and trying to build out my recipes. I understand that the flavors in the recipes tab need to equal 100% but I get confused when I see a recipe like the following:

Apple Menthol
17%TPA Apple
3% TPA PG Menthol

How do I figure that into the calculator? Also I like strong flavors, do you think 20% flavoring is a good starting point?

Thanks for your help

Jeff

Greetings Jeff.
SBD's calculator is the bomb by all means but percentages can throw a guy at time.

I use this cool online % calculator. It will help you convert these %'s to a real number then use them in Dans Calculator.

PM me if you have any issues or need some help.
Have a great day and welcome to the wonderful world of DIY'ing.

I dl'd the calc and I want to make sure I am reading this right.
Using the VG calc, it would seem that the PG% is staying to high to get 50/50. In the shot below you can see in Sec2 that the PG stays at 50% while the amount deducted due to flavoring volume is taken from the VG. Most flavoring is in PG (and some other) so diluting according to this would actually raise the PG above 50%. Am I reading this right? I think the PG should drop to 39% and the VG combo should equal 50%. Any help is much appreciated.

Dan,

Is there a way to account for flavoring being dissolved in PG in using the VG calculator? The calculator would have to count the flavor as part of the PG percentage, correct? Would the calculator have to be revised or am I just missing how to use it?

Thanks!!

Edit 2/4/14 20:05 hrs

In comparing some of our calculations, we realized that our PG/VG %'s are off (they have more PG than they should) because the VG calculator counts the flavoring (which in our case is PG based) as part of the VG. Is it possible to change the calculator so that the flavor is counted as part of the PG?

Or, do we have to tell the VG calculator that we are adding -0- flavor, and then subtract an amount of PG from the mix proportionate to the amount of PG-based flavoring added?

Thanks!

Change the formula in cell E20 to =(E9*E11/100)-E21. This should give you what you want. If this doesn't work let me know. I did this in version 13 and it works just fine.

The way I do this is;
17% of the total juice is Apple
3% of the total juice is menthol
=20 %of the juice is Flavor
enter 20 in cell E12
enter 17 in cell L9
Enter 3 in cell L10
look up the names of the flavors
Give your new recipe a name, save and you are done.

I would love to have the use of this great tool on my Ipad. Currently I have Ipad Numbers and it does not load the file correctly. I have also tried to use Mac excel version with no luck.
Anyone have any success with either of these two Mac versions?
or do I need to break down. And buy a window PC...... That would hurt...
any guidance will. Be appreciated!
Daryl

OK here is the link to v14 of the calculator that adds the options for grams....

Scuba, one more question, in section 6, how do I add more manufacturers, I want to add Flavor West and Vaping Zone Flavors. I added a Flavor West flavor to the "Flavor List for Drop Downs" page but it doesn't show up in the manufacturers drop-down list in Section 6. Sorry for being such a pest but I really love the this spreadsheet and want to use it more with the flavors that I have. Thanks in advance.

I know this is a bit late, but it was never answered so here goes:

Instructions for adding your own flavors to the ejuice_calculator.

Program being used: Excel 2010

1. In the rows between 13-16 insert the name in one of the Empty4, Empty5, Empty6

2. In rows at the end of the page (currently Cell A1135) is where you add your flavors. Add your manfacture in column A, flavor in column B (note these cells you will need to know where they are), and Usage/Info in column C.

3. Now comes the fun part: While you're on the "Flavor Lists For Drop-Downs" tab, at the top of the program right below the name of your file click on the word "Formulas". You should see an icon in the list named "Name Manager". Click the icon and you should get a pop-up window called Name Manager. Look for one in the list that says "Manufactures" Select it and select the Edit... button. You need to change the cell range to include the additional cells that are not currently included by adding the cells. There are two ways this can be done either edit the end of the Referes to: line and change the last number to include one or more additional cell(s) by incrementing the number from 12 to 13(or more) or click the icon at the end of Refers to: to drag on the cells you want to include and hit enter. Click on the "New" button which will let you create a new Name Manager with the following information: Name = Manufacture, Scope = Workbook, What ever comments you want to add this is for you and will not be visible, Refers to = (the location in column B where your flavors are) $B$1135:$B$1136 or you can select the little graphic icon at the end of that line and it will allow you to select the range. Keep in mind it's pulling from column B, not A, and not C so do not highlight all of the cells just the ones in column B. Once you select the range hit enter and it will return you to the New Name window. Select OK. Then select close.

Now when you go to your PG or VG Calculator page you should be able to select your manufacture and your newly added flavors will be in their own drop-down from that manufacture. If you notice that something has happened and your selected manufacture has some other manufactures flavor name there, somehow that name manager for that manufacture is pulling from the incorrect location and with the above instructions you should be able to go in and edit the cells and correct this.
