Yeah, but it's fun to tinker with these...
lol, ive played w/circuit boards b4, fixing burnt out traces, replacing caps etc.
the smaller the board the more of a pain it is to fix, actually any size is a pia. but like u said, fun to tinker then i usually just throw it away after

The blow job was certainly a clue to it's issues.
How the moisture affects the board, I dunno, but sure as heck seems to!:D
Only thing is it sticky fired twice this morning. It didn't get a blow job with the dust destroyer this time and has still ran perfect since. I guess it's just not a morning mod...

A lot of the fixes have been easy stuff, like you mentioned, bad connections, shorts, obvious stuff...
This one likes water for some reason...or dislikes it.

The video above is similar to what mine was doing. At one point only the adjustment buttons were working, when I took it apart and was fiddling with it (pushing and twisting, etc.) there was a spark and magically the fire button was working again.

Bike do you know what type of package the main chip is?
It should be some sort of SOP and possibly a μBGA, I was just wondering if a little reflow on the main chip might fix the problem. It's a common problem for a lot of BGA type chips.
Heat gun GPU reflow fixes laptop | Hackaday

You can use a toaster oven as well but I think the Heat gun might be a better choice.

Is the heat sink on the chip itself or the opposing side of the board?

There appears to be 2 thin SOP chips with heatsink attached directly.
ETA: There appears to be another chip other than the 2 small ones. There is too much adhesive to see anything. I would probably destroy it if I pulled the heatsink off.

ahem, any delays in shipping are more than likely due to us customs not the chinese boat! :)
Heh, I can get goodies from China faster than I can get parcels from interstate in Australia, our postal service must be still delivering on bicycles. Give you an example, I placed an order from Heavenlygifts, and it arrived to my door in 7 days (counting week ends as well) I place an order in Queensland and that is our next door neighbor state and I am lucky to see it in 6 working days if it is sent by Australia post. Even Express post takes 2-3 days and I am in an express post locality for heavens sake.

I have an acquaintance in Tasmania, that is an island state at the bottom of Australia, his order arrived in Melbourne by road freight in two days. Sat on the wharf for nearly a week. When the road freight carrier was contacted through tracking their excuse was they only load the ferry with freight once a week. The item was too heavy to go by post. Jesus wept! Another example, we had a car accident and the spare parts were to come from Western Australia by road freight, Now I can drive a truck from Sydney to Perth in less than a week.... the parts were readily available....it took over a month for them to come to Sydney.....Thank God our insurance company provided rental vehicles for the time it took to effect repairs.....I think the horse and cart must have broken down or the horse died coming from Western Australia.

How about a blow job out followed by a bit of silicone spray; non-conductive and repels moisture?

On the subject of Eleif Isticks and all other mods that have built in rechargeable batteries built in.

Recently as I have written in another post, I lost a very expensive SMY 180S mod due to defective Sony 18650 batteries; that exploded / vented whilst being charged by the mod. Well at least they purport to be Sony as Sony categorically state they no longer manufacture VTC4 /5 batteries and I have been told on this forum that they are still being made, huh by which clone merchant?

The vendor of the batteries offered to compensate me for the batteries or replace them but how can I be sure that the replacement stock will be any better as Sony no longer make them? The compensation will not replace my destroyed Mod.

There is so much re-branded and cloned rubbish coming out of China now that no one seems to be assured that they are getting genuine articles and the authentication bar codes are being forged and fake websites set up for you to verify your product.

Remember folks, China is a Communist country, under Communism private property be it material or intelectual property does not exist. Any invention in China is supposed to be shared by the Communalism Communist Ideology and hence there is no Copyright unless of course they have been copied by the West and then all hell breaks loose. Hence all the cloning B.S. that goes on in China.

Back to the topic, I now refuse to buy mods that have no vent holes and have built in batteries. If I cannot remove the batteries for charging on my LUC Efest charger or on my Nightcore intellicharger I will not buy the mod. Now please do not get me wrong, My three Eleaf I sticks have not given me one ounce of trouble. I have all three 20W, 30W and the 50W, the 20W is in use by my wife and has been going well for over three months. I personally use the 50W and the 30W is in reserve. My issue is that internal batteries no matter how good the charging circuitry can malfunction and this is also true for other devices such as mobile phones, two way radio's and torches etc., Yet by the same token I have only heard one story of Ego style category 2 batteries venting or exploding whist being charged and that was years ago when vaping was in its infancy.

Ain't that the Gospel Truth!:shock::shock: The Chinese do not care what sort of crap they sell to the Western world and these back yard vendors disappear when the Sh... hits the fan and start trading under another name. Should see all the spam mail I receive just because I bought from two Chinese vendors in the past. They must sell my email addy :spammers: :spammers: :spammers:
