Can someone here help out a new member having problems with a GS Air and istick combo? I think he is using the .15 TCcoils and I have no experience. Here's the post in case he doesn't come this way as directed: Getting more vapour out of Istick TC 40w + GS Air Tank
Hate to see someone new struggling -- THX!
Edit - sorry I meant to post this on the GS Air thread. Unless anyone here wants to lend a hand, as well.

Well I guess my old 20W must be starting to pack in finally, I am getting the Protection Error screen on various attys all within normal build specs 1.2ohm to 1.8ohm. Is this the battery pack in the iStick starting to let go or the board? The error seems random and the 20W still has a decent life to it when the error doesn't show up.

I love that little guy with all his quirks and the ugly replacement FDV 510 connector I installed. It is a perfect match for my Prometey with Silica/tank Filler and I'll hate to give him up.

Funny how we get attached to an old device.

I suppose we tend to get attached to those things we nursed along.
I have a 20 I've taken apart twice to clean and service. My favorite orphan.

Just a guess, TD. I'd say it was the board. It's probably worth taking apart and blowing out. Maybe you'll see something...

if u lower the power it might fire up more often, both of my 30w are doing the Protection Error

I had it apart tonight and didn't see anything out of sorts.

The funny thing is a KFV4 with a 1.8 ohm build does not give the Protection Error running at it's default setting of 15W.

A 1.2 to 1.5 ohm build will give the PE within a few seconds, and yes changing the power does give you a little longer before it appears.

I was tempted to unsolder the internal battery and solder on a 18650 battery sled to try a 25R and see what happened, but I didn't get a chance. I will try that later to see if that makes a difference.

Hey guys, I'm looking at a Smart 30 for a great price. Is the quality similar to our Istick 30's?

TY

Recently purchased Smart 30. 2 out of 3 will not charge.

ETA:
The Smart 30 is not an iStick clone. It is similar to the Earl that I bought from Fasttech. Just a touch smaller, lighter. the display is different, not as clear as the iSticks.

BTW, I'm about @ the year mark for my only 30W, all day every day, zero issues!!

Was looking @ a 40 for a replacement, but I can vape a carto @ less than 6W sometimes, so TC isn't necessary. Yet:)
i blew through 2 30w after 4-6 months of use, vaping at about 15mls on each at full power.
so at full tilt chain vaping will kill the battery(protection error), if i lower the power they will fire, gave them to a friend who vapes 3 mls/day @10w and shes happy

Hey r77...I recently decided to purchase another 30W.

I'm a confirmed MTL/Tootle Puffer...have never been over 10Watts...and have concerns about the health aspects of silver/titanium.

But...I ended up scoring a TC40W for $10 less than I could find a 30W.

(I figured just because a Mod has 40W and TC...doesn't mean I have to use 40W and TC...)

Hey Gerrymi :) Yes, saw those deals and was going w/the 40 until I saw a great deal on the Smart. Can you lock the regular wattage settings on the 40?
