Well they do say idle hands are the Devil's workshop lol.

It just turns out the devil in me is rather adapt at basic gadget disassembly (and re-assembly, thankfully) lol.

Also, as I said, the fact that the Pico's really easy to open up helps too.
hello,, TrollDragon sent me to your post.. wondering if your memory can tell me what kind of usb port to buy as i 'pulled' mine out on a road trip with a usb charger cord.

he linked me to a site with a large selection of usb parts USB 2.0 connectors | USB Connector | GCT

i run watts only,, every time (by accident) that i was on tc,,,,,,i felt like i was cooking my juice and or lips lol. (yeah, i know i was doing something wrong, ...

All modern generation joyetech TC mods (JTech, Wismec & Eleaf) default to, and on update reset to, maximum watts in TC mode. Yes, even the 200 and 250 watt models.
Temp is probably mid level default around 450F, but I haven't checked recently.

I've failed to imagine a reasonable excuse for this... but there it is.
And if you've never purposely lowered the wattage... that's where it remains.

Plenty of builds won't be able to handle that wattage, even 75w, even with TC.
But if you put yours to 420-440F and 25-30 watts, you're unlikely to get a horrible surprise, whatever the build.

People wonder why I check the settings before I take a vape. Thanks Obama JTech. :p

i consider myself a chain vaping tootle puffer ,,,17-25w @ .20-.80 ohms (drats i already forgot the keystrokes for that ohm symbol!)--as you can see,,, my watts tend to be lowish,, and i am not too picky about ohms,, i tried higher ohms,,, but a pizza can cook faster so i gave up on the higher ohm coil :)

I'm so used to using dual use Stainless, I forget to consider what happens with a non-TC wire build in TC mode... it kicks out of TC (usually, there are exceptions).

But these aren't the quickest mods around, I'm not sure if they'd allow a "toasty surprise" before they caught it and switched to Wattage mode.

I'd still go in and lower the separate TC wattage setting... just in case.

Pico is my favorite form factor and the only mod I care to use most of the time. It's a major bummer that the USB port is weak. I try to be very careful disconnecting a cable. I haven't read all the posts on the issue but is there a modification that might make it stronger than stock, say a preventative step? I wonder if they addressed the issue in the 26650 version.

P.S. New flash, just discovered this on FT $9.92 iStick Pico 75W Styled TC VW APV Box Mod Control Module - 1-75W / 200-600'F(100-315'C) at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping If it's the real deal might be an economical way to keep Pico's going longer after the vapocalyse. If it uses the identical USB connection may be it's a way to study the problem without dismantling a working pico. I'm sure I'll have at least one of these. If you paid someone at an electronics repair place to install one the total would be more than a new pico but the scenario is picos are no longer available in the US because of our dear dear government who so wisely and magnanimously protects us from our humble peasant little selves.

I am not sure I want to label the usb port as weak just yet. Reason being is that I was using a 'known tight fit' cable in my car. That cable may have been too tight and just grabbed and wouldn't let go. - I had already had problems with it hanging onto my cellphone. I have since replaced that cable, my cellphone is happier and another mod I use is also happy.
