I bought my regular Aerotank for $16--on sale. The V2 can be had for $20 or so if you know where to look. :D

Kanger Aerotank Glass Clearomizer with Airflow Controller & Bottom Dual Coil Heads

https://vaporhq.com/kanger-aerotank-clearomizer-dual-coil

Just don't get the Turbo--quad coil 6 ml capacity...

Yeah, I just realized that I was looking at the Giant, Mega, and Turbo models over at DiscountVapers. They have the V1 for $19.99.

That Turbo is ridonkulous!

That's a hella good deal! Is this vendor trustworthy? Never heard of them before.

I just can't justify spending $40 on a single tank....yet.

I picked up 2 Aerotanks (v1) from eBay for $13 ea shipped. I'm not a big fan of them but I wanted some tanks with glass (pyrex) and I can rebuild the coils. I would highly recommend a Kayfun Lite+ though if you haven't tried one. eBay has them for $30 shipped and you'd need wire ($5 shipped for 100') and some organic cotton or other wicking material. You won't have to buy coils anymore and you get a much better experience (flavor) than you would with an Aerotank.

Definitely not. I have some batteries I charge at 30 amps with no signs of heat. Heat during a charge cycle is a bad sign that the batteries or components in the charge circuit are being over stressed.

It would be the internal resistance of the battery getting to high causing the battery to get hot. Some heat is ok but if it gets too hot, you should replace the battery.

Looks like a Chinese seller. You'd be better off buying from Fasttech (probably not by much though).

lots to catch up on...

so...

I am getting that the mini ProTanks and Evods and the bajillion 2.2 heads I have...aren't going to be good on this huh ?
I was able to find some 2.2 Ohm, single EVOD coils. These are the original, short chimney coils for the plastic evod clearos. I had to switch the chimney for the longer version that works with the Mini Protank 2.

If I understand the numbers, this doesn't really make sense, but here goes:

At 7 watts and 4 volts, I definitely noticed a burnt taste. At anything lower than 6 watts I didn't sense any burning, but did note that weird "silica" taste and the muted sensation/flavor that comes with it. I left the flavor wicks in. I only took a couple of hits at 7 watts, but I did not get a dry hit during my experimentation. Plenty of vapor at all levels.

I much prefer cotton wicks. IMO the taste is clearly superior.

YMMV, as for all I know my tastebuds have been destroyed by some 40 years of smoking. I've been off the sticks for over a year now, though.

Katya might have hit it on the head when she noted that the 2.2 Ohm Kanger single coils are right on the cusp of Kanger's recommendations.

Hope this helps.

The silica heads are coming out NOW. :p

Edit: BTW, the iStick metered the 2.2 coil as 2.3 Ohm. This is obviously on the included ego adapter.

Almost every Kanger single coil I have used came at .1 or .2Ω higher than stated resistance. Dual coils are more accurate, for some reason.

Just a fun fact.

It's late...

It would be the internal resistance of the battery getting to high causing the battery to get hot. Some heat is ok but if it gets too hot, you should replace the battery.

While internal resistance is a big factor in our end result, it's not internal resistance necessarily causing heat. It's an electrically triggered thermochemical reaction in the paste in the cells as the electrons flow between the anode and cathode. Though as we increase our current so do we increase resistance. In turn we're adding more heat. As the paste breaks down into crystalline structures the cell dies slowly, the heat increases on every charge cycle, the capacity and energy density decrease during each discharge cycle and the internal resistance increases all around as the cell becomes less able to obtain, hold or discharge a decent charge.

Internal resistance of a battery is a symptom and an indicator that can be observed via measurements and calculations without dissecting and destroying a cell. It is not the root issue.

ETA: Some warmth is okay during a charge cycle. Heat during a charge cycle is generally regarded as a complete no - no as far as I know.

Good to know, thanks.

Anyone have any issues with Vape NW ? I ordered a couple of sticks on the 10th. They were a pre-order - no problem - no hurry. Then on Monday they changed them from pre-order to in stock and I thought some of you have said you received shipping notifications from them? I figured my order would ship on Tuesday since Monday was a post office holliday. Nothing. No notice. Order is still "processing and no answer to my email yesterday. Since this is my first experience with VapeNW, I'm wondering if I shouldn;t just cancel my order with them.

PS: I ordered mine for $29.00/ea. I see they are now selling them for 32/ea.

I think they're completely in the weeds with orders.

I ordered an "in stock" for a little bit more and they sat on the order for 3 days. When I questioned them, they apologized and said they'd send it soon. I was ...... and shortly after I informed them of impending negative feedback, I got a shipping notice.

I usaually let that stuff slide. But if I choose to spend extra cash specifically to get something quicker, it needs to come quicker. "I just didn't get to it" isn't an acceptible excuse. And they seemed like they were annoyed.

I hope it doesn't have bugers on it.

Yeah, I don't mind waiting at all if they tell me upfront when I order... like they did. Just concerns me that they've now been listed as in stock for a few days and I can't even get an email reply. It only takes a couple of seconds for someone to say "Sorry, we're really backed up. We'll get it out ASAP for you.".

that's what I use and they work fine for me Classy :D

only one way to truly find out :2cool:

Kinda lowish... You'll be right at 8 watts. Kanger recommends 5-7.5 watts for their single coils. I prefer 6.5W or so on my Kangers. But I'm a wimp.

I usually run an IGO-s RDA, but I just put on a Kanger Mini Protank 2 sporting a rebuilt, regular (not micro coil), 32 gauge wire coil that comes in at 2.1 Ohm. The MPT2 vapes fine with no burning at all. My THEORY is that it all depends on the wicking. Mine is currently wicking with Japanese pad cotton similar to Koh Gen Do, lightly packed in the coil with a single, 1/2 pad-depth strip of cotton on top as a "flavor" wick (the diameter of this cotton seems to contract after it is wet). It does seem to vape a bit cooler on a standard 650 mAh standard eVod battery that is supposed to be "regulated" at 3.7v. The juice currently in my tank is "A Quiet Morning" from Alice in Vapeland - which I'm guessing is a higher PG fluid.

Then again, maybe I just can't taste the burning. I can say for certain that I've had no dry hits. A bit of gurgling toward the very end of a tank, but that is not unusual and not dependent on the battery.

I think I have a few unused, stock 2.2 and 2.5 ohm coils in my stash box. If I do, I'll give one of them a shot - 2.2 Ohm if I have one - perhaps this evening. Given other peoples' reported experiences, I'm GUESSING that I might have to take out the flavor wicks and replace them with a small amount of cotton to make it wick well enough. I'm guessing that just removing the silica flavor wicks will result in some flooding with my relatively thin juice.

So right then...will probably be too hot of a vape for me :(

I Rebuild, but have not with those heads yet...too tiny and will really "have to be in the mood to mess with it"...

Here was my experience: I ordered an in stock black istick from VapeNW yesterday at 11 am. At 7pm I had the shipping confirmation and tracking number in my email. Now, I don't have it in my hands yet...so I can't report on complete success but I'm certainly satisfied so far.

I really don't understand their pre-order / in-stock procedure. Doesn't seem like they have a discernable way of handling themselves in that regard.

By the way, I paid $32.49 + $6 shipping for a total of $38.49.

I rebuild everything, and the Kanger coils are probably the easiest for me. There's no little screws to mess with, and it's easy to trim the wicks without having to worry much with tail density/location. Of course, I have to wear my strongest readers, but once you've done a few of them, you'll see they're really not as scary as you thought they'd be.

Help !!!!

I think I have at some point cross threaded one of my tanks on my istick now nothing will screw in to it, I guess I have stripped the threading on the 510 connector.

What do you guys think? can the 510 be replaced if you have some knowledge of soldering ????

Thankfully I have two but I would rather have them both working correctly

Cheers
