I'm with you. To use another APV as an example, what makes the VaporShark attractive is its size. What makes the VaporShark unattractive is its price. I'm not suggesting that it should be sold for less, just that its price is too high for me personally. But then, a lot of vaping gear is beyond my wallet's comfort zone.

The istick's size, wattage range, and price are all in the sweet spot for me. I'm willing to adapt to its shortcomings (Vavg vs. Vrms, lack of a high-quality floating pin 510 connection), because it succeeds with the three criteria so wonderfully. Plus, the istick looks and feels well-made, has a good display with ergonomic controls, and, what the heck, it's as cute as a button.

Don't know if it helps but VS lowered their prices on the DNA30 ($120) and rDNA30 ($170) and just introduced the rDNA40 ($190).

Now that we've got a tropical storm - that may yet become a hurricane - heading our way, I sorta wish I had ordered another iStick. Had I done so, vapewise I'd be OK even if our electricity went out for 4 days...plus whatever time I could get out of my evod batts. Gonna have to keep them all charged for the next few days.

Do you have a car and car charger?

Stay safe!

It does overhang quite a bit...

It's 1mm larger in diameter than my Kayfun. The overhang isn't as bad as it looks in pictures and it helps when you hold it.

More battery eh? MVP3 will most likely be larger than the iStick.

Hate to say it but I'm rootin' for Eleaf to just recalibrate their output readings in the next iStick version and maybe put in a better 510 pin. Any other improvements I'd consider a bonus. I just hope they don't over-engineer the damn thing with features us "common" folk will seldom use..[/QUOTE]

Me too. ;)

With these changes it really could be the ideal twist/spinner replacement that I could recommend to a large array of vapers.

Leekeylee - I think you got lost in here. :D As for your bad threads, try to find a tap to clean up the threads with. Not sure exactly what size the 510 threading is? Anyone? If you aren't sure about doing it, do you know a mechanic? They could help you out. Then, you probably want to get a 510 to 510 adapter and leave it on there. Good luck!

510 connection = M7 x 0.5 thread.

Hope this helps...

Thank you all for the advise, I am not confident doing this but I know a guy who is handy at this sort of thing and works in a loval vape shop, he is building his own mod so I am sure sorting the threads out is something that he could do for me.

Cheers again

Help !!!!

I think I have at some point cross threaded one of my tanks on my istick now nothing will screw in to it, I guess I have stripped the threading on the 510 connector.

What do you guys think? can the 510 be replaced if you have some knowledge of soldering ????

Thankfully I have two but I would rather have them both working correctly

Cheers

Hi leekeykee,

The FatDaddy 510 insert is certainly an option. Since drilling is required regardless, I'd go with installing an entire 510 v3 shorty version stead. It should fit fine, give you the floating pin and negate the need for tapping for the insert... Just my :2c:

Heads up -- Innokin hopes to have the MVP3 available by Christmas.
http://www.reddit.com/r/Innokin/comments/2ilnip/innokin_itaste_mvp30_official_reddit_announcement/

Higher capacity battery, spring loaded connector, 30 watts.... and more!

Eleaf had best get crackin' on the iStick2. As a low watt, 100% VG, factory single coil user, the iStick1 (adorable as it is) just isn't cutting the mustard for me. I won't be purchasing a second unit until the wattage/voltage issues have been corrected.

So folks, any bets on which will become available first... the iStick2 or the MVP3? I'm hoping it will be the new improved iStick... but I'm quite willing to make room in my Xmas stocking for a shiny new razzle dazzle MVP3 instead. :D

It's a wonderful time to be a vaper. :)

Can't wait to see what they finally come up with. But I can't imagine it coming in under $75. That's why the iStick is perfect for most of us. I'll use an iStick v2 for everything but my RDAs.

ETA: The way the Innokin release reads, the 30W iStick will be their "entry-level" model. Even with a custom battery, it will most likely be larger than the iStick. The step-up model sounds like it may be a DNA 40. Only time will tell. But cost of entry will probably be at least twice what we're paying for the iStick.

I love these BVC coils, but they can truly be a pain the {MODERATED}. A few solutions that I've come up with:

1) Make sure you're buying authentic coils. I thought I was at first, but I've noticed a big difference when getting them from a more reputable vendor. My local B&M and Sunvapers.com both have been more successful. Maybe it's the way they are taken care of- who knows. But I think it's worth trying a different place that people have had more success with.

2) I heard this from others- When you get out a new coil, drop in a 2-3 drops of the eliquid that you're about to use, right down in there. I thought this sounded odd at first, but I do notice a lasting difference. It sounds like the reason is something to do with keeping it wet so it doesn't burn when you first fire it. Who knows, but it does seem to help them last longer.

3) Don't bother cleaning your coils- it just makes it worse. I've tried every method there is, and despite all of them, it just seems to mess them up. Just try to stick to one flavor, or take a papertowl and just clean the outside between flavors. Washing, alcohol etc, just never does any good- in fact seems to harm them.

4) Stick to the 1.8 coils. The 1.6 seem to perform worse for me.

Those are the big 4 for me. Some of it does appear to be luck though. Some coils last weeks, others only sometimes days. I think it depends on the type of juice as well. I've noticed that thicker juices really tear them up quicker. Best of luck.

As drysprocket pointed out, priming new coils is definitely a good idea for performance & longevity. Because of the wicking materials used, dry-burning is not a good idea and may have adverse effects. If you want to switch flavors, vape the tank dry, until the tank is empty but coil is still saturated. Then run 10-15 drops of 100% VG through the coil. That should clear most of the old flavor out. :)

More battery eh? MVP3 will most likely be larger than the iStick. I think that would be a mistake on Innokin's part as the iStick's size is part of its appeal. And 30 watts? Sadly, this merely confirms where the industry is heading. With all this power soon we'll be belching rain clouds and vaping 30ml a day.

Hate to say it but I'm rootin' for Eleaf to just recalibrate their output readings in the next iStick version and maybe put in a better 510 pin. Any other improvements I'd consider a bonus. I just hope they don't over-engineer the damn thing with features us "common" folk will seldom use..

With the direction the industry seems to be headed, the fact that the iStick is calibrated to 'hit harder' should be no surprise. I'm surprised it can attain the higher wattage that it advertises in such a small package. Regardless of what numbers it uses in V2 or V3, I would expect the power to increase.

A better 510 connection, replaceable battery, etc...would be nice if the cost doesn't double. Compare the price of an original 650 mah fixed voltage eGo battery with the current 650-700 mah VV/VW with LCD offerings.

I noticed the talk about the vaporshark, I have one and had nothing but problems, I am not too thrilled with their customer service so it sits in a drawer and I vape off my Isticks with the wrong wattage

I was reading the VS thread and it was mostly a bashfest on VS's customer service. They're coming out a DNA 40 version.

Also, the DNA 20 and DNA 30 can't fire below 4v, just like the istick chip. The DNA 40 can step down the voltage.

I love my blue stick and am expecting my red one tomorrow. I'm also curious how the MVP3 will turn out. Besides more wattage, I would hope they'd change the button position to the side. Having it in the front makes for awkward firing.

They mentioned the fire button was moved.
