What is the deal with demanding more and more watts? According to all the charts I have seen, the perfect watts for vaping is approximately 8 watts.
What gives with the higher watts/voltage?

You need more watts for sub-ohm'ing. Definitely not for the average (or casual) vaper. I can't see vaping at over 15w myself and usually at 6w-9w on most of my toppers. Getting past 50w is just ridiculous and borderline irresponsible of the makers of these boxes. I was glad to see PBusardo's initial comments on these high power devices before reviewing the sigelei 100w.

I've been using my Natalis 5ml tanks on my Istick. I use a setting of 8 watts. My coils are 1.8 ohm. For some reason, the coils are only lasting 2 to 3 days max.
Anyone have any idea why or how to prolong the coil life?

I love these BVC coils, but they can truly be a pain the {MODERATED}. A few solutions that I've come up with:

1) Make sure you're buying authentic coils. I thought I was at first, but I've noticed a big difference when getting them from a more reputable vendor. My local B&M and Sunvapers.com both have been more successful. Maybe it's the way they are taken care of- who knows. But I think it's worth trying a different place that people have had more success with.

2) I heard this from others- When you get out a new coil, drop in a 2-3 drops of the eliquid that you're about to use, right down in there. I thought this sounded odd at first, but I do notice a lasting difference. It sounds like the reason is something to do with keeping it wet so it doesn't burn when you first fire it. Who knows, but it does seem to help them last longer.

3) Don't bother cleaning your coils- it just makes it worse. I've tried every method there is, and despite all of them, it just seems to mess them up. Just try to stick to one flavor, or take a papertowl and just clean the outside between flavors. Washing, alcohol etc, just never does any good- in fact seems to harm them.

4) Stick to the 1.8 coils. The 1.6 seem to perform worse for me.

Those are the big 4 for me. Some of it does appear to be luck though. Some coils last weeks, others only sometimes days. I think it depends on the type of juice as well. I've noticed that thicker juices really tear them up quicker. Best of luck.

but unless i'm totally misunderstanding you can't use the istick for sub ohming as it won't fire under the 1ohm?!?!?

Do you think the 1.6 or the 1.8 ohm BVC would last longer in the Nautilus Mini on top of the eleaf istick vaping between 8 and 10 watts? Thanks.

Funny, you must have just missed my previous edit. For me 1.8's have worked better, but in truth, that could have had nothing to do with it. I just stopped using the 1.6's after some bad experiences. But it could have been due to bad coils. I only use 1.8's now, and usually vape between 8-10 W on the istick, and things have been going much better lately.

One happy little family. Really love the new istick. Keeping all 3 though, they all have their time and place:p

Hehehe... Not the same voltage, though. Scottbee (remember him? :)) first discovered that eGos, even though they were rated at 3.7v, were actually 3.2v regulated devices. Riva was the first eGo-class battery that was unregulated (4.2v briefly fresh off the charger, then 3.7v until the cutoff at 3.1v or so). Oh, the good old days...

That was an epic thread:

One of my all time faves, Katyaya. Thanks for posting that one! He (Scottbee) was personally responsible for all my Riva purchases! (And my Bartleby!)

dry, don't bother cleaning your coils as it just makes it worse? Why is that? What would a (let's say vodka) soak do to inhibit the coils or make them "worse"? I'm truly kurious, as I'm normally a vodka soaker.

And mamma mia, this thread moves quickly!!!! Turn around and there's another 20 pages! :D

Try lowering your watts.

Any chance of a pic of an stick with a Lemo on it?

Pretty please!

I think someone posted before. The Lemo is 23mm and taller than a Kayfun.

That was in response to someone else that was wondering why people needed more watts in general, not on the istick.

A waste of vodka?

Anybody know when the second version of this is coming out?

Since this just came out, I'd guess it'll be a while before v2 shows up.

Got both in today form vapeNW. Super fast shipping! And to think I was concerned that the silver for Mrs. BSD was not in stock ATM.

Holy smokes, I new it would be small, but even so I'm still in awe at how small it actually is in hand. Little powerhouse cranking 15w through a Boba's Bounty filled Nautilus mini BVC. Have a couple of Aspire K1 BVC tanks too. The little K1 looks perfect with this Istick. Think I'm going to pick up 4-5 more of the K1's for my change up juices.

The silver is a bit slippery, but does look nice. The black looks nice, and but feels better in the hand to me. Glad the Mrs. likes the silver. Too bad the "red" isn't red. I'd have ordered one of those too.

The voltage controversy means squat to me. I'm used to dialing in by taste since my everyday device is analog. Wife likes a less intense vape, and she's a happy camper with her little fella set to 8w.

Thirty something bucks! What's not to love?

Can you do a pic with the K1 on the Istick? My Istick's are in transit and I also have a K1 coming and just curious how it looks.
