Next to VS DNA30... sorry, the flash didn't do much for the color ('red' which we all now know is pink lol). I got mine today as well and WOW! I love it, so comfortable, compared to my VS I turned the watts down to 10 from 10.5, not a HUGE difference in how hot it vapes, just a little and I probably could have gotten away with just turning it down .1-.2 watts but my OCD would never allow that lol. I was thinking about it a lot last night anf those coming from an MVP or VV will notice a big difference bc it's just a more powerful device, I have to crank my MVP way up compared to my VS. It's very cute and comfortable and I will DEFINITELY be buying 1 or 2 (probably 2 lol) more and be completely confident in the choice to replace my VSs with them!

I have to though, my husband has been out of work since early July when he broke his foot and we need money desperately and I honestly don't need anywhere NEAR 30 watts so I'd been looking for a 20 watt device that was small and affordable. I couldn't have found this thing at a more perfect time!
I have 4 fractures in my spine and physically cannot work myself (and we have 3 kids!).

In that case, I can tell you that the very high resistance coils may be a route to enjoy the istick. It's the only thing I've found that tames it a bit.

I'm going to try, I definitely love my VS, but he's got AT LEAST another month before he can walk on his foot like normal so I've been selling a lot lol. 3 kids tear through any savings we might have lol.

Yeah, I've been wondering if you still found it too hot in voltage mode. 3 quick clicks on the fire button, wait a sec and the display changes.

Your 3.7v with 2.5ohm calcs to 5.48 watts. I'm typically 3.8 or 3.9v with a 1.8 ohm Aspire BDC on my spinners/Twists which calcs to 8.02 watts. But on my VAMO's and SID I vape at 5 or 6 watts with the same tank (ET-S). With my two iSticks I'm doing 5.0 to 5.5 watts. All of these please me most of the day.

Try volt mode & a higher ohm coil. At the end of the day your tastebuds and the form factor rule, imo. Numbers and tech are interesting, but only as a personal starting point imo.

I put the stick on the scope. This is what I've found so far:

As a simple test I connected some cheap grabber leads to my 1.8Ω dripper. It's a fairly solid square wave variable pulse width output. I didn't find any variance in voltage of a peak of 5.8v. Some of you know the time needs to be plotted with different settings to understand it. It's an older, simple scope. Maybe I will do that at a later time. The Fluke 77 picked up a voltage that was close enough to what the display was reading.

There is also a short 1v pulse with a long interval while the display is on/not firing. You will notice that the device is constantly checking the atomizer while the display is on. It's a possibility that this is post heating the coil.

I put a dna30 chip on the scope and it's a nice flat line that varies in voltage. No pulsing detected with my equipment. It's the only other chip I have available for comparison.

If you're seeing that, measured at the coil, doesn't that suggest the iStick isn't filtering/smoothing at all?

It's a nice square wave. No filtering is picked up by my scope.

Interesting, that could explain a lot.

If memory serves, the Provari, eVic, and MVP all ouput a flat DC voltage on a scope (as a result of filtered PWM variable voltage). I think the VTR is as well, but am less certain.

If we could figure out the duty cycle, we could calculate the Vave, Vmax, and Vrms.....

Going back to my linked article and threads, this certainly looks like the same deal from two years ago!!!

I'm going to try to rebuild the bvc coils with 32 Gauge NiCh 80 whenever that time comes. It seems that the 2.3Ω coil (same wire) in the kayfun clone was working well with it. I was getting a dry to "onset of cooked" flavor experience with a lower resistance. The VS was handling this fine set at about 4W higher. This is just my experience while chatting with a friend for a few hours. No serious observation and not much experience since.
