Thanks, I'll grab the v3 then. :)

I use protank 2's and have 3 in rotation. I have air valves on all 3. I never take valve off istick or the cloupor mini. In other words tank is married to whatever battery it's on. That was due to the poor istick threads and pin. The PT' 2 coils are so easy to rebuild. Too bad I think the PT 2's are soon to be phased out at kanger.....

I have an iStick 20w where the threads have stripped and the 510 connector won't read an atomizer. I've seen the fix where someone bought a FD 510 and used plexiglass to adapt it but don't have the tools to do that. Do they sell a kit where I can easily remove the top and replace it with the spring loaded 510 from a 30w? Disassemble, unscrew top, and screw on spring loaded 30w top?

is this what you're talking about?
Kanger Airflow Control Valve for Kanger ProTank-II, ProTank-3, AeroTank | SmokTek.com

I almost bought it with my last order of supplies but if it makes that much of a difference I'll definitely have to get it next time. My protank2 has been gathering dust lately..

I purchased this one, and after the unavoidable delay (about 20 days) it amazed me because it is like the genuine, entirely stainless steel, and regulates much like an EMOW Aerotank (so it's V3 even if the label applied by Fasttech says V2).

A must for any Protank II/III or Aerotank of the former first versions, with some parts in brass/non-SS.

No idea about where to get it out of FT, here in Spain I didn't find it, not yet at least..... and the 'Authentic' one is also there.

You can buy a new 20w for about 28 bucks, or a 30w for 35 bucks....wouldn't think it would be worth the time - effort - cost trying to repair it.

You can buy spring loaded 510 connectors for 4 or 5 bucks. You may need to be skilled at soldering, drilling , shimming, etc. cause it won't be just unscrewing the old one and screwing in a new one.

Just ordered a 30w, a couple of tanks and some coils for my sons 21st birthday. He's been trying to quit smoking and hijacks my isticks every time he visits. I had it all shipped directly to him since he lives 100 miles from me and we don't get a chance to get together often. I wish I could have given it to him personally so I could show him how it all works. Even though he's vaped with my gear, I have never showed him the details like taking apart the tanks, using coils, filling the tanks etc. He's not stupid, I know he can figure it out, but would just like to make sure he doesn't have any rookie accidents, or flood out his coils by over filling the tank or what not. I guess I could always direct him to YouTube if he has questions or issues. I just hope it gets him off the smokes!

(and as of another order I placed tonight, I am now up to three 20w's, four mini's, and two 30w's. I might have a problem... )

Old technology

you have no idea just how many vapers, both on vaping forums, but esp. NOT on vaping forums, who love the old technology, and quit smoking using an ego twist and an evod clearomizer or T2, etc. As a matter of fact, many still prefer them. Ditto for simple batteries......I never have vaped over 8 watts. I rarely have ever turned a battery up past 4.1-4.2. And that's going on 3 years.

Although I've actually "owned" all the big stuff. I sold it all off.

Right now, manufacturers are shooting themselves in foot by not keeping simpler smaller gear alive. I personally have no desire to carry around anything bigger than an ego battery.

Amen sister.

I hate to quote myself, but this is what I just posted in another thread.

Thanks, inspects.

All kidding aside, I don't understand that sub-ohm, high-wattage, cloud-chasing, lung-inhaling craze. I don't want to go back to smoking. Whatever happened to tobacco harm reduction and all that? Aren't we all going in the wrong direction?

Stolen from yet another thread on new technology:

ETA: This OCC was stress tested at 45W on purpose. Kanger recommends 30w maximum for OCC coils. Thanks, ruet, for catching my mistake.

1+ fellow lovers of Protank even though I have ventured into Taifuns and such. Protank is one handy little tank. Especially with AFC and building own coils
If you hate to be that guy, don't be that guy.

Telling a fellow vaper to ditch his gear is rarely helpful--unless he's using CE4 clearos.

Kanger makes very good tanks--I've been using them for over two years now without a problem. Really.

Just sayin'...

Thank you for verifying what I already figured out... tastes like a Vamo on the avg setting... I'm one of those "Sweet Spot" is right about 5W with a 2.5 ohm carto or clearo.. anything lower ohm just about takes the top of my head off... I can get close with the istick and a chinese knock off evod with a 2.8 ohm coil, but it's still a little harsh. Can't for the life of me figure out why anyone would need 50 Watts of power, but sure would love the extra battery life of the new stick. Unfortunately my istick is being cranky, haven't yet figured out if my adapter is shorting with the top of the case, the display reads the proper (or almost proper) V and Ohms readings, but the second I hit the square button and try to vape, (actually about1.3 seconds in,) the display reads "Protected" or "No Atomizer"- I've tried 4 different known good atty's and 3 different adapters, as well as no adapter and can't get the damned thing to hit. It was my Xmas present to myself so it's less than two months old. Disappointed and back to using my heavy Tesla.

First, make sure it's fully charged (it will say "protected" when it's low on charge). Second, try lifting the pin ever so gently with a small screwdriver. VERY gently. That often fixes it.

You just described me!

:D

Although I like my shiney toys and all, my go-to out-and-about carry is an eGo threaded 3.7 V with an EVOD clearo at 2.5 ohms. I vape 50/50, and as long as the coil is clean, I find it very satisfying.

YMMV

To call your post disingenuous would be generous. ...at best. That picture was taken from a device that was run, admittedly, out-of-spec. IMO irresponsibly so per Kangers official documentation. The Subtanks are fantastic devices and pair perfectly with the 20 and 30 watt iSticks.

I agree with the large following of simple stuff. And I think they are much less intimidating for new folks and primarily responsible for attracting them to vaping but the old tanks do work real good on a little 30 :)

I agree that egos are great - but you're not talking about old stuff here. You're talking about not-long-ago stuff. :)
