One of the things that concerns me about this chip is that it's only 85% efficient. Kind of strange coming from the dna 200 at 97% efficiency.
When I vape MTL with my DNA200's, I get 10 watts to the coils and 14 watts going into the DNA200 from the battery. That is 71% efficiency. The DNA200 is probably 97% efficient at 200 watts. But the lower the wattage, the worse it gets.

But don't let it bother you, they all work that way (although the DNA is still better). Take one of my Reuleaux DNA200 compared to one of my Reuleaux RX200. My DNA200 I can vape 30ml easily per charge. On my RX200, pushing the batteries to the extremes I can barely squeeze out 15ml per charge with the same batteries.

I have been using one for weeks and the battery life feels good from a 25R, it certainly does not feel like a battery eater and I imagine the efficiently figure is the worst case and it is more efficient when you are not using max boost.

Hi Bill,
How have you determined this, 14w from the battery?
Tnx :)
EScribe shows the total watt hours used. All of the information is in the Device Monitor Statistics. So you know how much watt hours the coil(s) used for a period of time. And you know how many watt hours the cells (batteries) put out. At 100% efficiency, they would be the same value.

Total Wh / Battery Wh = efficiency %

You could do it the old fashion way too. Just measure the current from the pack/batteries and multiply it by the voltage to give you pack/battery watts. Using a power supply with a voltage and current readout makes this easier.

SMY is coming out with their dna75 device called sdna75. It utilizes a single 18650 battery

Djlsb has a quick look on YouTube.
I'm for sure intrigued by it. :) Waiting a little longer before committing just to see what my other options are! I'm kinda holding out for either glowing battery life reviews, or a dual 18650 unit.

Was just looking at his channel other day but never saw this! Thanks for heads up. Didn't realize he was involved in producing it.

Why not just get something like a Hcigar VT133. It uses a DNA200 chip, dual 18650's, goes up to 133 watts. You can always turn it down and from the way I understand it the DNA200 board is more efficient (better battery life - 97% efficient).

Cheers,
Steve

I...managed to miss the VT133's existence. Until this thread. Not my proudest moment.

The other 18650 DNA200 I know of is the Rue- Rea-...um Reuleaux - whose form factor I don't really love and the Boxer, which I've read awful reviews about (melting, discoloration, and lousy customer service).

Now, in proper gear-nerd form, I want to see what comes from the DNA75 chip before committing!

The HCigar VT133 are probably my most favorite mods. I own three of them and I am still thinking of having four of them. I might buy the fourth one before I finish this post. ;)

A lot of people said the very same about the Reuleaux form factor. As they didn't think they would like it, including me. I ended up getting two Reuleaux DNA200 back in February and surprisingly they fit really nice in your hand. And they have lasting battery capacity as I could vape over 30ml per charge. :vapor:

How's the Reuleaux's pocketability with that form factor? That's the rub for me.

That and the connector complaints I've stumbled on :/ Maybe overblown?

If you pocket carry a Reuleaux. Everyone will think you're a really big man and you really like every one you meet.

Kidding aside for me the Reuleaux is lousy for pocket carry, but has been really great for home use.

@TooMuchOrangeTang: Yes like druckle mentioned, it is horrible for the pocket. Oh it is small enough, it is just heavy (314g with batteries) and odd shaped for the pocket. But it is great in the hand and/or a cup holder. I use one of those belt holsters and that works ok.

Yes the 510 connection is shallow. Any atty with a 510 longer than 4.6mm will not be flush. I use those "http://www.kidneypuncher.com/kp-mod-guard-5-pack/" to fill in the gap. Those that force them flush (by screwing it down hard) works for a time. But I think the bottom cracks open and the pin will stay down one day and it will be trashed.

Just a quick response to boxer and gingervaper comment. I have 3 of their mods: dna133 and the sx350j v2 in 26650 and dual 18650 setup. Had them for about 2 weeks. Performed stellar. Had a tank leak on my dna133. Only took a sponge and some water to thoroughly clean it.

Had issues with the screen on the 133 and GV repaired it and had it returned to me within 5 business days from LA TO NY.

Just stating my own personal experience with GV, which was nothing short of perfect.

Back on topic. There seems to be 4 x DNA75 devices out there currently (5/21)with only 1 strictly using 18650.

Hcigar VT 75 - 89x52x32
Hotcig DX 75 - 87x42x30
SMY SDNA75 - 84x44(tapers to 40)x22.6
ThinkVape Box75 - 76x35x22

I think thinkvape is the smallest form factor so far.

Not sure I trust fasttechs dimension specs on the thinkvape, however. Time will tell when we get more info.
