Yeah, it's not a bad quality neither and it does mm as well as inches. I have no idea where to get them though, I got it from a "secret Santa" on another forum years ago. It was mailed to me from the USA though, that's about all I know.

I'd say it's Beta-ish for now.

The problem is we (USA) have the FDA regs that go into effect tomorrow (8-8-2016). I'm not sure that Evolv will be able to release updates after that date without getting FDA approval. It's really a mess over here with what the FDA is considering a tobacco product!

Yeah, I know, we got our own crap going on over here as well but I do feel for you guys!

I don't think the regulations apply to just the software as well though, but we will find out soon enough I guess.

Couldn't they release a global update online. Maybe even post a blurb how this hasn't been tested for FDA consideration and therefore shouldn't be used on devices in the US?

I only wish I knew about digital calipers long a go, not sure when these inexpensive versions came out, but it measures far more then I thought, depth etc. $25 for such a useful tool, is dumb simple to buy ASAP. I use it often, non vape related as well.

Look I am sure the FDA who has only tested and worked with devices and drugs, and the devices from the aspect of heavily developed devices where a single change can cripple a system. Thinks they can restrict software development on these devices. But they like many people in these types of situations are internet dumb.

Evolv maybe US based but they are global seller of products. It would be virtually impossible for them to stop any company that sells globally to not release FW updates for devices sold outside the US.

I would like to see how the FDA expects to be able to manage Americans access to this firmware. Simple answer is that they can't. Long answer is worst case scenario they block update downloads to US IPs (forces Evolv to). All it takes is one UK person to throw it up and it will be available to all Americans for eternity. Their best bet is to work with the companies about disclaiming the dangers of the update if used in the US where the FDA has authorized it's use.

I don't have a DNA yet and I would like one, but can you say over-engineered? All this trouble to apply a current to a length of wire?

Yeah like the DMCA has stopped anything. The more they try to stop it the more the internet community fights back. I remember when Sony tried fighting the decode code for ripping Blu-Rays. They tried getting it pulled from everywhere, eventually the community got so into it they even had shirts made with the code on it. If it's on the internet it's there forever for everyone.

Well then to answer your first questions, you can get a perfectly fine vape from a mech mod, I own a few. One has to be more careful using ohms law when building coils, and you don't have any built in protections. Many people then look toward regulated devices, there was VV & VW, I thought I was done, then came temperture protection, so I tried that. At some point you either realize you like technology or don't. And for some vaping becomes a hobby. I like to try and keep up with it as I enjoy it, as well as helping others when I can. The benefits of TC vaping are more then I have time to write about, but it does take some dedication to learning the technology and trouble shooting. It's certainly not for everyone. I've helped out quite a few friends, and for those that unlike me, don't want to know more then just a way to get their NIC fix, I've set them up with simple plug and play devices.

Sure vaping from a battery, a piece of wire, and a switch is one way to vape. But having preheat and precise temperature control is heaven.

Recently I've been buying up DNA75 mods as like many I find the chipset that Evolv sells to mod makers, makes a fair upgrade to smooth vapor production. One does not have to be sucked into the wormhole to enjoy a good vape. It just depends on how far you want to travel?

I have been using a Evolv Kick 2 for the last two years and I do like the DC output as compared to the low rate PWM found on most cheap VW/TC Vapes and I do think Evolv makes a superior product.

It is amusing, and some embrace it, others don't. I'm not an Evolv salesman, but personally I do find a large enough difference to recommend them.

If the stupid self serving FDA did not gain control of our future, I'm sure the technology would advance to having real, live temperture feedback on mods and attys. Some argue that our FDA regs will not effect R&D but I'm not so sure, without the USA dollars flowing in, the Chinese companies may end up with less profits, and then the domino effect.
