Sure, it would be Nice in my mind if Every person who Smokes could Switch Completely to e-Cigarettes.

But Isn't a Person who practices Any Level of Harm Reduction doing a Good Thing?

Totally agree. You've uttered the Magic Words "Tobacco Harm Reduction." It's not total abstinence from tobacco cigarettes. Many of us, if not the majority, realize that we enjoy vaping much more than smoking. In the end, no one twisted my arm to completely quit smoking, it was my own personal decision and was, and still am, responsible for it.

For decades we as smokers heard the battle cry of "smoking kills" yet continued to smoke claiming our personal freedom to make the decision to continue to smoke. Has that freedom to make our own decisions been taken away from us just because we started vaping?

If the OP finds himself/herself bothered by what other people are doing at work or outside of work, I suggest you take a break from your desk and go for an invigorating walk. Get that blood flowing into your brain once again and come back refreshed.

On a side note...I saw a lady at the grocery store last night... Her cart was full of cookies and ice cream, brownie mix and doughnuts, frozen pizza and burritos.....then....oh man, I don't even know if I can tell you this story .......then, she grabs a 12 pack of DIET COKE!!!!! I was so mad I wanted to scream!!! I wanted to ram her with my cart and pin her to the produce aisle!!!!! I said eat healthy and drink Diet Coke or eat junk food and drink regular Coke! YOU CAN'T DO BOTH!!!!! Sorry guys, I just had to get that off my chest.....still trying to calm down here. I hate that lady.

ROFL!!!! My mom does this... eats cookies, cakes, fudge, candy, etc, all day long... and chases it with diet Dr. Pepper. Completely illogical, but that's my mom. She's diabetic, BTW, so has no damn business eating any of that stuff, but you can't tell her anything. She's killing herself one bite at a time, but won't listen to a word about it. She's presently in the hospital, IVs sprouting like weeds, a catheter in place because they're concerned now for her kidneys... and she's still munching away on fudge and chocolate donuts. The only way to make her stop is probably to lock her in a closet and not respond to any entreaties, but who wants to do that, to a family member?

*sigh*

I kinda look at it this way, for me I vape to stop smoking, found out I loved it! It's far more satisfying than smoking in my opinion.however, others have the right to vape as they wish. It's sad yes if they don't quit smoking, but that is their right. There is no right or wrong here its a simple choice of how we choose to live our lives. I choose to completely and totally quit smoking cigarettes. Not even a drag. .I choose to vape instead. I choose to use 24 mg nicotine in my juices. If others are choosing to vape and smoke it is their choice. All you can do is hope for their health that one day they will quit, but it has to be when they are ready. As much as it is frustrating because you want to help them, you have to remember, first step is deciding enough is enough and you must have that personal desire to want to quit. Nothing wrong with enjoying vaping just to enjoy it which sounds like what they are doing. When they are ready they will quit but they must be ready first.so you can't let others personal choices effect you. Basically focus on you and your choices, lead by example and maybe they will follow . But it's their choice. Just focus on your choices and goals because you can't force others to do something they might not be ready to do. So take it easy, enjoy your own choice and don't worry to much about others. We can't ever control other people. But we can control our choices. And I think you made a good choice by completely quitting, but others have to decide that for themselves.

Well, I wonder if the folks on the Healthy Eating forum are talking about sending flowers

Well, they probably should be, but I have to say, that was pretty hurtful. Yes, she's probably going to die quite soon, because of her poor choices. And as much as I hate her choices, I'm going to miss her. She's my only mom, after all.

So, on that note, I think I'll just leave this thread, if people are descending to this level of rubbing it in that my mom won't be alive much longer.

My apologies Andrea.... but its no different than talking about sending flowers to the family members of smokers like you and someone else did earlier. I have family members who still smoke as I'm sure many others reading this thread do. Maybe before putting such extreme opinions out there, you should ask yourself how you'd respond? My prayers are with you and your mom.

It's all about informed choices.

One of the reasons that BT got their .... nailed for billions in settlements was the fact the they knew, but didn't let on ( about the health issues associated with smoking ). Buy a car and the previous owner fails to mention that it was like involved in a mash-up,you might have legal grounds for bowin out of the deal and get your dough back. If he tells you and you still decide to buy it, then you're in for it.

As long as u know what you getting yourself into - none of my business.

Not gonna mess with your life. Your freedom to make your own decisions, and live with the consequences of these decisions.

Charlie Caplin's speech still holds water ... will continue to do so for quite some time too....

They are just hard core smokers using ecigs as a substitute until they can light up again. Keep track of them so you can send them flowers!...Well they won't see the bouquet but you will know who sent them!
I began vaping to supplement my smoking as I was a hard core smoker and within a period of time began favoring my ecig over analogs. I have been smoke free for over 16 months. For whatever reason one decides to vape let them vape without everyone .....ing.

So, I think I like most the post in this thread about just sending flowers to the family members when the recalcitrant smoker finally dies of it. It's really all you can do, with those who just won't drink the koolaid.

Does anyone actually read what they write anymore??

It is sad but I empathize with your mom. I'd much rather eat what I want and be happy while I'm here than to eat the tastelesd "healthy" crap the rest of my life. I really can't stand most food labeled as healthy. I would be totally miserable only eating that garb. I'm healthy at the moment but that could change at any time. I'd also like to add that even though I'd be miserable, I'll probably eat the healthy crap for my children.
