Glad to have the genny section as well! I'm new to rebuildable in general and love genesis style over kayfuns and the like. It was tough finding info here until now.

What differences would I be likely to see between #200 and #500 mesh?

Larger holes better for thicker liquids? Holds more in the wick? Wicks faster?

I've always used 400 or 500 so I'm curious...

Agreed. I'm really glad they took my (and others') suggestion; I would post a geni topic in the Rebuildables section, and I'd be lucky to get a reply or two, including the "I hate genis" response.

It's not booming by any means, but It's awesome that people are contributing and with people whom have similar equipment

I find that 200 wicks faster, but doesnt seem to work as well with max vg juices.

Hmm odd. Personally that's why I switched to 200 down from 400+. With a straw wick of 200 I can wick max VG in any genni with 4+ second draws no dry hits. Do you use a solid, straw, wick-in-wick or two-tier 200 wick?

Will have to do some more experimentation when it gets hotter around here. Right now I'm at 500 mesh and using slightly thinner liquids than usual just to make things work properly.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned yet is twill weave mesh. I bought some 400 twill weaved a while back just to see if it was easier to roll bendy wicks with it without cutting diagonally. Turned out it wasnt. Still wicks well, tho. It's thicker and sturdier than the usual 400-mesh. Would love to try some 500 twill. May be the perfect middle ground between sturdy and wicky.

I have sort of gotten to a point in my vaping "career" where I don't care all that much anymore. Any decent gennie with any wicking mesh and any working coil is sort of OK with me. No dry hits and a reliable, non-leaking setup is pretty much all I care about. Which is what I've had for the past year or so.

Edit: BTW, you guys who use 200-mesh... do you mainly use straw wicks? I mainly use solid wicks with my 500-mesh.

ive gone down to 350 mesh..... Cuz Canada and High VG dont mix well... lol

i roll my mesh like a cinnamon roll (visually)....
wick is solid, but has a gap between each layer...
Been doing it like this for over 2 years.

Like so:

I also do a "loose roll" wick (im calling it a cinnabun wick from now on lol) all the time... works awesome on all liquids. I do sometimes F it up during rinsing and changing flavors in between tanks... i'll end up denting it or compressing portions... i find they don't last me as long as solid or straw-style wicks.

I do kind of want to try a cotton core wick this weekend for ....s and giggles. I've taken the outer "layer" of KGD pads before and done the opposite and made a 1mm layer of cotton on the outside of a solid SS wick (worked damn well) but never cotton in the core. Personally i'll always go back to just SS... until i read something saying that SS wicks cause genital cancer or some thing lol.

Cable always worked for me on thinner liquid, and higher resistance builds.
Never wicked fast enough for me, but it is a lot easier.

I heard it actually kept up with anything better than mesh or cotton. Then again, a little tilting is required. I'm normally against any tilting (hence why I mainly use cotton spikes for an auto-dripping style), but I heard this works so well I couldn't help but give it a try.

I guess I'm going to be putting it through it's paces since I'm using a Max VG from Labrat Liquids (Brown Betty), so if it can't keep up then that's that for me. If it can (even if it needs a slight tilt) and the flavor is good, I may revert back to it every once in a while or switch between this and cotton.

Next I might try it with a 1 coil setup; I really like not being able to burn the wick for the most part, so I can turn up the wattage and really bring out those deep flavors and notes that require a lot of heat to get.

Haven't actually tested it yet; that's all in theory. I have it wicked, coiled, and filled with juice; I'm just enjoying this Brown Betty on my kayfun too much to stop right now. I know it's meant for drippers, but with a 3mm 26g coil at 1.4, and with a fat piece of cotton trimmed perfectly to get to the bottom whilst leaving the juice flow channels open so air can easily escape, the wicking is keeping up fine for me to chainvape, and this may be the very best juice I've tried to date. May even be better than the SMAX Sammy Puffs imo.

Just re-did one of my setups and got a reminder of a little something I usually do. Once I'm done pulsing my coils and I think it's good to go, I swap to a fresh battery and try a couple more pulses. Sucks to leave the house with a new setup, only to find it's not really prepped for the the voltage of a fully charged battery.

Did this with my Prometheus last week.

Can't think of any one video that makes it all 'click'. Thing is there are several ways of prepping ones wicks and outfitting it with a coil. The one thing I am under the impression is mostly a thing of the past - is scorching our wicks with torches. Some liquid burn them. Some only pulse a completely unoxidized wick.

Will see if I have some videos bookmarked once I get to my main 'puter. Watch several and try to find a common thread. Its less important how you get there than what you end up with.

Off the top of my head I think pbusardo has a nice video where he really tries to give gennies a fair chance and 'get it right'. Then there's... was it Ruby? With a pretty nice video on pulsing unoxidized wicks.
