then went to cut up rest of 3 inch top tin stone. got like 5 pieces, now the diamond cutter is dull. sparking like crazy, not cutting the rest.
Were you wet cutting or dry cutting?

Dsmooch in an earlier post mentioned the 545 Dremel wheel, which I used to cut 18 sticks out of a Topfin, and still good to cut up a few more stones. Like you, I also didn't have much success with the diamond wheel illustrated in your post. Then went to cut up rest of 3 inch top tin stone. got like 5 pieces, now the diamond cutter is dull. sparking like crazy, not cutting the rest. Dont get this wheel for the stones
So I have been vaping off of several attys with ceramic. There is one set-up that I keep coming back to...the Cobra with a 3/32 FC-2000 wick using .8mm ribbon kanthal at .8ohms. This set up also performs better overall on a provari than on a mechanical.
I think the combination of a number of factors together are driving this. The power limiting effect of the provari, the lower heat sink effect of the wick, the right amount of gap between the wick and wick hole and the length of the Cobra wick hole. The 3/32 just doesn't need 20 watts of power.![]()
Yeah OK your first on the list if I create a list and if I decide to make them for sale but for now let me make one first, see what it turns out like, it's going to take some time, the switch is where the issue is... the rest is fine... but that being said if I can keep the switch nice and short I estimate around the 60mm length for the 18350 size trying to limit the wasted space area looking at other mods etc... for example the smoktech natural has what I would call 15mm too much length that could have been avoided but heh its a cheap mod in comparison to others out there....
Ive sketched up a few switches already, going to try and make them see how much effort is involved, if it works out I will have a friend of mine who is in manufacturing to give me a price on making bulk parts.
The issue is making a lock for the switch, otherwise a plunger is very simple to design, just a spring and a tube to pass through is simplistic but making the locking mechanism and keeping the overall length down is difficult.
Anyway back to the topic of this thread
I think I might get some fish stix and start making some wicks because I have rebuildables here and not enough wicks for them.
The FC2000's are good, but we have to wait so long for them and they arent exactly cheap...
one of the guys at the office who was with me during the torching today said why not make it out of sandstone and be done with it...
so I ask has anyone tried sandstone?

thanks for giving that material a go. about the mod you maybe attempting, i would like to see a vv, protected mod with maybe a 9-amp / 20-25 watt limit. wouldnt this be great? i heard something about a dual dna20 chipset that might produce something like this, for me it would be the holy grail in mods. when will you have this ready for me? lol
Thanks for following up on that. Alumina (or aluminium) is a single element and there is nothing that makes it up other than AL. Aluminium oxide would be AL2O3. Maybe he means that other ingredients utilized during the process are eliminated leaving basically pure AL2O3?
Hey Vap, I got a Vamo yesterday. With paired 18350s the limits come off and if you run it in voltage mode you can crank it all the way up to 6v with low res coils. Man it hisses like a snake! Instant on and tons of vapor. You need to use short bursts to stop going too hot but it is a ton of fun! For $40 bucks it was a bargain. Another great thing a bout it is you don't keep slipping in and out of menus like you do on the Provari if you work the button a bit. Highly recommend this mod for dollars.

The gurgle is probably juice getting by the wick and to the air hole. I had this problem with over-tilting my T+ with the FC2000 3/32 wick. Juice would get by and get into the air hole if I tilted it too far. Are you getting juice in your top cap? More than usual is what I mean.
+ 1 on the VAMO...biggest bang for the buck out there right now (IMHO). I love its flexibility (VV VW, RMS, etc) runs 510 & even the EGo carts without any adapters. Its my go-to MOD for experimenting with various RBA/coils/etc.
yes i do believe that some of the juice is getting past the wick to the airhole. by taking out the bushing in the rsst it becomes to large of a hole for a 1/8 wick. good news is i believe the bushing can be installed back, or just make a wick a little larger then 1/8.
gdeal, did you hot wrap this ribbon on the 3/32 wick? when i did your ribbon i used it on a 1/8 wick and used the drill bit triangle trick, sorry i forgot the named method, anyways it came out pretty good but not tight tight. how many wraps are on this 3/32 wick? if its the 28g equivalent you must have a ton of wraps, no? or am i getting the comparisons wrong again and the .8 ribbon equivalent to 30g.

didnt know that with the vamo, i always thought you had to stack batterys in a mechanical mod for that. so by doing the 2 18350 battery thing, is the mod still protected? or is it like a mechanical mod at that point?
Man it hisses like a snake!
...it hits like a Mack truck. Grrreeaaatt!
