I'm looking at Cape Coral area.
actually it is kind of cold here today, it is like 60. last night it got to like 47. but really throughout the winter you may get a total of 20 days in which the temperature gets under 55. now north florida is different, they get alot colder. however, i do remember in 1978 in south florida it did snow once, it melted as it hit the ground but i can remember it collected on my coat.

Quick update on using cheesecloth to shorten break-in time.....After ~30mls and a pressing urge to recoil with ribbon wire, I took the 30g round wire cc/wick set up apart. Surprisingly most of the single thread of cheesecloth was intact. The coil released easily from cc/wick and the thread just unwound from the ceramic. The ceramic underneath was very clean. The cheese cloth was brown and bit gunked up but nothing even close to what I get on a SS mesh setup for the same mls and juice type. I didnt even feel the need to torch the ceramic, it was a bit darker, but that seemed more like discoloration, than pore clogging gunk.

So I just took another thread of cc, put a one layer strand over the wick and recoiled with .5x.1 ribbon. I was back in action in under 10 minutes. Half a tank later, the cotton settle down and its really working well. This is just getting better and better.

so you just hand wound the ribbon onto the wick? wick in tank or out when wound? how would you say the ribbon works compared to the regular wire? thanks gdeal for updates

thats not to far from me. i remmember that area from the hurricanes that came through that area about 7 years ago. but dont worry its not an area that is known for that. i hear it is nice there. i love the west coast of florida, although i miss the diving on the east coast of florida.

I pulled the wick out of the tank. Then I removed the round wire and cc. Lightly brushed off small pieces, then rewrapped the coil area with cc. Formed a ribbon coil with an slightly undersized drill bit, then twisted onto the cc/wick. After, I put the wick back into the atty, I needed to tighten up the bottom coil and the top most coil needed to be unwound slightly, then re-wrap and tightened to the positive post. It was more slightly more difficult to do than round wire b/c the ribbon wants to twist.

I dont think you need the cc, if you can get the ribbon to stay flat and you have a perfectly round wick. On the wick I am using, the cc seems to help to maximize contact on the flat wire surface.

The round wire was performing great. This so far is as good, but since I am only about a 1.5 tanks in I would expect it to get better. I am definitely going through juice faster.

On the gunking up issue, I did not have any decrease in performance after the 30mls. Their is some build up between coils, but it did not effect the vape. I should have taken a picture...

Just finished my first "fishstick" AGA-T+ (9/64 wick hole) with a 28ga 7/6 coil (1.7Ω). I also wound a 2 layer wrap of cc around the wick that's inside the tank. I primed the wick from the top and cranked up a VAMO to 8W RMS. Did that about 20 times and it's wicking very well with just a half tank of juice. Cranked 'er up to 10W and it's putting out a large cloud of vapor. Tastes really good. The coil loosened up A LOT and I ended up with a 6/5 coil which tightned up nicely and dropped my resistance to 1.4Ω--just where I needed it for this VAMO. I'm impressed so far and if this unit just gets better with age I have something to look forward to.

Thanks to this great group for all the info.

p.s.---
What's a good way to restrict the air flow on my AGA-T+?
I like a little resistance when I draw on this thing and the hole
that's poked in it is too big IMHO.

Haha, cry me a river. We got a good 5" of snow last night alone... ;)

I think you're the first person I've heard complain that the airflow on the AGA-T+ is too airy. Most people drill out the stock hole.

You can get foil tape and place a very small piece on the inside (or outside if you don't mind the look) and re-poke the hole.

the 30g seems perfect with the ceramic. i have always perfered 28g over 30g with ss wicks, but maybe with ceramic the 30g might be equal to the 28g. although 28g and ceramic is an awesome combination, it can be just a bit unresponsive. the flavor is unbeatable with the 28g, but its just a tad bit slow. ceramic does take just a bit longer to heat compared to ss mesh, this coupled with the fact that 28g wire in itself is slightly slower then a thinner wire creates a slight delay in heating. thats why the 30g might be perfect for ceramic. i have both the 30g and 28g going right now and think both are awesome. if i want some better flavor i will vape the 28g, if i want some faster vapor i will pick up the 30g, love them both far better then the 32g.

Since i haven't intoduced myself and just barged in uninvited (seems like a dam intresting thread, wicking issues and flavor are paramount) i'm zygote, i've been hangin around the zenesis thread for about a year also ihybrid and Mad Murdocks Radiator Pluid and a few others, you guys piqued my intrest w/ceramic ( been seenin it for a while ) now i'm waitin on some wicks.:). How are the batteries lasting w/ the ceramic being that the wicks take a minute to heat up?

hey Zygote, safe to assume the hotter the wire... depends on your setup. its slower than ss but I wouldn't say a minute though.
3-4 draws on a 28g and its really kicking...
what's your vape right now?

hey buddy and welcome, to be honest, only with the 28g wire is when i notice a very slight difference in heat-up time. i mean it is very slight compared to ss mesh. now matbe if you were a person who made sort of flimsey and not so dense ss mesh wicks then you might notice more of a difference, but i always made my ss wicks very dense and solid, so it isnt much difference. and i see no difference in battery useage.
