WOW that coil close up looks like it's molded into the wick, amazing results there!!! Well done!
I came up with a thought recently and that was to use a diamond tip holesaw in a drill press holding the air stones to cut a 7mm hole and the edges take up almost 2mm which would leave you with a close to 3mm stone rod, havent had the chance to try it as our lab only has 8mm hole saws (as the smallest) and leaves a little larger than 4mm rod but it does a great job on stone bench top type stone and I would say the air stones should produce a similar result?? looks like your kitted up to be able to try it, I saw a pack on ebay of 7mm diamond tip holesaws for a few dollars, I would say so long as you kept water flowing over it it should not destroy the hole saw with a slow speed drill press and a good vice to keep everything in place.

OK so here I was vaping in absolute heaven, then as I go to grab a drink I touched my mod and over it goes onto the table I didnt think much of it at the time, I go to take a vape after my drink and bam almost burnt my throat out I cracked the wick.... so disappointing... It was working like a charm till then... arghhhh the pain of starting again.....

Maybe benchtop type stone being non porous and what we do when drilling is on a larger scale and hence your left with a rod, I guess being porous it would collect the dust and grind itself away in the tube??? interesting though that at 8mm we get a rod with hard stone but something just a little smaller and 100x more brittle grinds away... but heh it was just a thought, glad to see someone has tried it, saves me the time and trouble....

Just an update for my "Elias Hot Wrap"(EHW) method...
5 wraps 30g Kanthal A1 wire on my DIY air bubble stone wick at 2.8mm diameter. Set up as EHW method, WOW! The coil just like welded on the stone wick and can't even move it! Screwed the coil and wick on one of my AGA-T+, fill in 70%PG/30%VG cappuccino juice in. Screwed my T+ on my cracked VV Gripper, I got 1.6 ohms. Fired the device at 5 volts a few times until the coil turn dark, probably not more than 10 times. Set the voltage back to my favorite 3.6-3.8 volts for vape test... Ah! It already broke in! Wow! That was fast! Love it! It tastes AWESOME!
Here the pic after it broke in.
This is my best coil and wick set up I ever have since I started using genesis atty. Now I can "steam" it without tilting the device, and there's no hot spot! Here the video of my EHW in action.
Now I am a happy vaper, also chained vape...

Don't toss your broken wick guys. I have found out that as long as the wick goes a little way into the tank it will work fine. Just keep it wet by keeping the tank full and tilt it to keep it covered when you are vaping and I promise it will work just fine. I tried this out in my DID before tossing one out (snapped a while back in the ZAP) and it is just fine. I connected the coil under the second screw on the positive post and it goes into the tank about a third of the way and I would say it performs at around 95 percent. Honestly, I can't tell much difference. Test it out for yourself, I think you will be surprised.

I think because we get such good contact on the stone / ceramic that it just cant get red (and give a dry hit) without making the rest of the stone / ceramic red due to being on a larger mass.

Strange that mine broke at the top of the tank so there is so much length left on it that it is still very useful for the tank I lost around 7mm of it so no big deal with mine at least...

Yes it seems impossible but I can assure you that the heat does not transfer down the wick and into your finger tips, so in saying that the job is easier.
I grab one end of the kanthal and put a slight twist along the length and then place it on heat and start turning with my fingers, so much easier and much more control and pressure is constant too so the wick gets a great wrap.
I will try and do a video of it tomorrow, but right now I am just sitting back drinking and really could even be bothered finishing this setup. Just on the back veranda, JD and Coke and some Ice and a tall glass, my Smoktech Natural and my carto tanks and just relaxing reading and yeah typing.... lol
