hey guys, after inquirys about the composition of the fc-2000 wicks, i contact someone who can answer this question. this guy came up with the idea and manufacters them. he ultimatlely sells them to the 3 places that we know of. he assures me that they are aliminum oxide and definatly contain no lead. also much of the make up of alumina has been ommitted from the wicks, leaving a simplier make up. i guess in alumina there are alot of different things that make up the whole picture but many were unneccesary for the fc composition. this alumina is a pretty common material that is used in our every day life, this with the fact that it is fired at over 2000 degrees makes me feel kind of satisfied that it is safe. i would tend to believe that there could be more of a health issue with the heating of the kanthal wire then with the actual wick. all along alumina was said to be the make up of these wicks, so this really isnt anything new for most, but i guess lately the lead question was asked. personaaly i do believe the information that i recieved is truthful, and that these fc-2000 wicks do not contain any lead.
