ZAP v2.1 just came in the mail today and I must confess - these ceramic wicks are unbelievable. The break-in had me a bit worried but once it really got going, it got going. I'm spooling up the second one right now to throw on my AGA but after I threw it on the mech with NO hot spots, I was sold. Just picked up a few more for a pricey 20 bucks per 3 (slotted 1/8th) for my next few experiments. I for one am completely sold on these things.

Cheers

wish Boden gets his business up a running quickly... it really looks like the ultimate wick.
so what's your take on it. what kind of setup do you have running?
I don't want to hijack the thread too badly, but it is so far better than stainless steel or the FC-2000. The juice flavor is clear and not muted. There is less lag or warm-up time needed than the FC-2000. I think the white wick is sturdier only because I haven't broken one yet (I had one FC-2000 break in a case while walking across the room, but it may have been damaged in shipping). I also had to Genny tilt using the FC-2000 but not with the white wick. These are all my opinions, and for the record I did not like ss wicks at all.

I am currently using the 1/8" white wick with round Kanthal at 1.5 ohms in a RSST. I would like to try the ribbon Kanthal eventually, but I don't want to tear this one down yet.

I have some from Tank and there real short when I put them in my real AC9 and my ZAP. They fit like a glove in my RSST's. So Im using those until I get some longer ceramic wicks. Just need to find them in stock somewhere. I did take the insulator out of my ZAP and the wick will need some sanding to get in there. Need length more than anything right now. Im trying to get away from mesh altogether. I might have to use mesh for a little in my nice RBA's if I want to use them...LOL

DV is supposed to get some 1/8x1.75 slotteds in about a week.

Zyg, you're right until proven wrong :)... do you have anything left of these tries ie a search key, a supplier, a link, anything?
I'm even more intrigued...

Allright, i admit i am not good with the technical stuff, so here are a few other corporations that might have something
1-soil moisture equipment corp
2-sentro tech

maybe we can come up with something

I'm more of the code guy rather than the entrepreneur or chemist myself, so I'm lost too. But info is available and what I learned from your links is you can get in the business of ceramic wicks for under 5 grands lol, probably half that with a used furnace. Short term ROI is encouraging...But it won't take long till Chinese production takes over despite all the wishful thinking...
Anyways, these guys don't have ~3mm rods ready to sell, they would need to be custom ordered...
best bet is still Boden with no effort involved; wish the german wicks can measure up though. All I really need is a tad bit more wicking to close the DID's fill hole.

From all the feedback I've read, I think Mr. Boden has already found the Holy Grail of ceramic wicks:

.... we are now just waiting on availability.

Maybe BoDen is saving his penny's for an order lol..........and the wait begins for the 13, it might be 50.00 per wick when it does arrive.

If its going to be "that much better" than the FC2K then 50 bucks a wick wouldn't be too absurd..... Well, perhaps a bit absurd.

This is my coil after 15 refils. There is never a build up on it. Is it because of using 100%pg?View attachment 208918

Might have more to do with the flavoring and %of flav in your juice than 100% PG. I have some juices that gunk up a coil on the ceramic wick (actually any wick type) than others.

BTW - did you drill out the wick hole on the RBA? If not what size wick are you using?

Nice coil ricks!

Low build upon on the coils could be a number of things. Could be that clear PG juice you are using, could be the wattage you are putting though the coil, could be that you have a perfectly wrap ceramic wick and you wire temp is completely even. :)

In general, I find ceramic has less build up than say SS mesh. I've been going though about 25mls at a clip before I clean my ceramic wick. Usually there is build up occurring, but its that hint of vapor/flavor drop off which really tell me its time to break-down and clean.

I'm using 30g wire at 2.4 ohms with 8 wraps. Is a 7/64 wick. I drilled it out almost to 1/8". I'm still experimenting looking for the best setup. It just surprises me that I have no build up.
Me too...15 refills=at least 30 ml of juice, or in the neighborhood...do you DIY your juice or do you know what types of flavorings are used? I would guess if it is an alcohol based flavoring, it might not gunk as much but I don't know if that would fully explain your cleanliness.

EDIT: Maybe all of those wraps means more evaporation/vaporization of the juice? Somehow it makes for a cleaner burn?

I have made a batch of the FC wish wicks "yeah wish it was a white wick" and don't feel the same as others. I do however want to try the white wick, at least one!! .....I haven't had any pleasant moments with this wick...

Mr.BD13 please give me a white wick....lol
