But we must do more to stem what I see as an epidemic of use of e-cigs among teens, and deeply disturbing trends that show no sign of abating. So, we’re also going to re-visit the compliance policy that we announced last summer to extend the application compliance periods for certain deemed products, including and especially the e-cigarettes that were on the market as of Aug. 8, 2016. Under the current policy, the compliance date for filing applications for such products was extended to Aug. 8, 2022.
I watched PBS Newshour and Gottlieb was on it today. He made it pretty clear that he is talking about 4 closed pod systems and not flavored juice in general. He repeated several times that he doesn't want to take devices off the market for Adults.
He was talking Blu, JUUL, VUSE, etc
I believe when Mr. Gottlieb referred to Flavored e-Liquids, he was referring to All Flavored e-Liquids. Be it in a Bottle or in a Pod.
FDA wants e-cigarette makers to extinguish use by kids
Not what he went into. He said he was talking about 4 manufactures of Devices. All were pods. You can probably find the PBS interview on the web
Perhaps a sacrificial lamb upon the altar to appease the do goodie good do gooder letter alphabet groups...Not what he went into. He said he was talking about 4 manufactures of Devices. All were pods. You can probably find the PBS interview on the web
Here’s what’s weird though: blu and vuse are both tobacco company products, yet the potential of their banning RAISES the stock price of the company.I watched PBS Newshour and Gottlieb was on it today. Yup. That. Let's not forget how creative kids are as we age.Like Doing DIY?
And then Selling it to their Friends?
It's not futile to them. They know exactly what they're doing. For one, it will put money into the "justice system" (/private correctional facilities). They'll have created a whole new sub-culture of underground illegal mixers and sellers of e liquid. What saddens me the most is these people know exactly how creative kids are and they are still going to waste resources on a futile plan.
They have a choice.
Kids are going to continue to do one, or the other, or both.
Not all kids, maybe not even a majority (heh he said majority), but they are going to do it.
No amount of legislation will change that.
So the numbskulls in charge can watch smoking rates go up.
Bully for them.
.......
Right? Like they care about the flavor of a Tide Pod, LOLIt would not solve the problem at all. Teens are hardwired to experiment period.
Yup. Why not? Kids are have their own economy. It seriously starts in grade school. They will seriously do whatever.Like Doing DIY?
And then Selling it to their Friends?
It's not futile to them. I think they know exactly what they're doing. New laws create new criminals...What saddens me the most is these people know exactly how creative kids are and they are still going to waste resources on a futile plan.
I have thought about DIY, but haven't done it. Been vaping for about 3.5 yrs. It's really the next thing for me, I guess. I've "evolved" to my small collection of devices and chosen liquid that I love and don't really feel the urge to shop for anymore stuff. But, I'm also already kind of bogged down with vaping in general - constantly filling up and charging batteries, and feeling annoyed when I have to buy more liquid (going to have to get about 4 new batteries, too, soon). Like deep inside I know it's a dumb thing I do that eliminated it, it would simplify my life just a little bit more. I'm just waiting for the day I get bored with it and quit... But I really like vaping! (the struggle is real) This news may push me over to the DIY edge again. Aaarg - this stuff and the way people are believing all the propaganda is really infuriating. :/
