Firmware Upgraded Smok xPro m80

We can only assume most of these places will be offering the new version. Only a couple sites that I have seen even acknowledge the fact they have been updated. I pre ordered mine before all of this talk of v0006, but I'm confident it will be the upgraded device. I seen a Canadian site that had them but not sure if they are asking Canadian or USD and once again they state nothing of being a upgraded version. Was just saying it would be safer to ask. Thebloke is probably right by saying smok most likely pulled the first batch, but you can't be sure.

I just cannot buy these devices as 80w mods or TC mods. I just don't trust them...period. They aren't reliable and the TC is just a flat out lie imo.

This guy does some stress testing and TC tests. It's from an older firmware, but reports are that the newest doesn't work for crap either. He has 3 separate reviews on it.

I believe I have figured out a way to create a 1.06 .hex file with data provided with the ISPTool. As is, the ISPTool cannot save the data from the device to a file. However, it does let you VIEW and manually copy the current hexadecimal information stored on the device (as displayed in the 'file data' field, in the APROM tab). I have figured out the method in which this is assembled into a .hex file and I believe I can use that data to create a flashable 1.06 .hex file. All I need is for someone to do this (requires no flashing of the device, you just need to connect it in the program).

Simply open the ISPTool and go through the aforementioned steps to connect the device in the program. Once it is connected, the APROM data field will be populated with the current APROMs hexadecimal contents. Click anywhere in this field and press CTRL + A (to select it all), then CTRL + C (to copy). You can then stop holding the fire button and disconnect your device. Make a new text document and paste what you copied into it, then upload that and send me the link; alternatively, just make a pastebin of it and link me.

No, once connected it's blank. You can see this in the screenshot I posted before:

No, the clue is in the name "file data". That field is showing the hexadecimal view of the .hex file you loaded into the program, not the current contents of the device.

You can see in my first screenshot that it's blank when you first connect. Then if you open a file, it shows the contents of the file, as you can see here where I opened a text file I just created:

I ordered a new one and plan on getting a refund for this one once my new one comes in, although I kinda want to tinker around with it and see if I can't pull the APROM data somehow. I'm sure there's a way, even if it doesn't have anything to do with the ISPTool.

Check smoktech website they got an update that should fix you up.

I just grabbed one today. Its at firmware 0007. Haven't seen anything about that firmware yet but I didn't look too hard. On the lower end of the temp control it barley does anything but it gives better vapor as you work your way up and it is almost instant.

Thanks for letting us know! Yeah there's no info about v7 on Smok's site - pretty typical, they didn't update when v6 came out either. At least not until several weeks later when they released v6-1 and v5-1, and finally confirmed what we already knew, that v5 couldn't upgrade to v6.

So I'd place a strong bet that v7 comes with new board changes and is not accessible to v6 users. God knows what's in it!

Well, unless - there's just one other possibility. Which is that v7 is identical to v6-1, and they figured v7 looked nicer than v6-1 on the screen! That's a long shot though, I'm sure something's different.

Can't imagine it's anything that important. If it's more changes to TC then who cares, the M80 TC is pretty pointless anyway.

I have a v6 and am loving it. Temperature control works really well. I also discovered that anyone doing the dry test at over 350/400 is incorrect. Its always going to burn. I was shown this on the heartbeat and the sx mini m-class both burned over 350/400.

well the v6 may indeed now do proper TC ( i doubt it very much) but you are absolutely wrong about the dry cotton test i am afraid! I know from personal experience but there are propbably dozens of such tests on the web by now with many different proper TC/TP devices that will support my statement. Anyway, enjoy the m80 and welcome to ECF!

i have done cotton tests at temps greater than 400F. There is a whole video on youtube where some guy does a set of burn tests at increasing temps with various different wicking material...

What does 350/400F mean anyway - thats a big margin for error!!

I will say i did my own dry cotton test at 450f and destroyed my cotton. I went to my local vape shop and he lowered my temp on my m80 and it didnt burn. Im just posting my findings and experiences.
