Ok .. My tracking said that this wasn't being delivered until Friday, but here it is people, The SXK/Infinite Stingray X in all its beautiful glory *This is not the first Stingray X that FC has listed in their China Warehouse, be clear that this is the SXK Stingray that is only available through Focal's US Warehouse*

drum roll please .....

For those who also ordered the SXK Stingray X, I can't wait to compare notes with you ... I have not taken it out of it's wrapping yet, I have some work to do, and I don't want to touch until I have some time to really spend with it. But it is clear from the first open box impressions that this is a 1:1 with the authentic by JD Tech, and that this mod is flipping GORGEOUS!

Last month, Focal Ecig had a group buy for Nemesis clones, and I jumped on it. (Something like 11$ shipped!)

I do not have any tracking information, and I was wondering if anyone else on here participated in the group buy, and if you did, if there was any news on about how long I should expect to wait... It's been right at a month and I just want to make sure I didn't get hosed!

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk while hittin' that Hawk Sauce on the MVP!

I'm still waiting as well. I think the order status showed as "gathering items" for a week or so after the group buy ended. Any day now.

Yeah, I hate to tell ya but that is the way that the Stingray that you ordered is supposed to be .. It was illustrated in the pics when FC first listed it, it showed the SS sleeve for the 350 tube removed. I have not looked at it since it first posted, but I know the pic was there when they first put it up.

yeah and i'm fine with the sleeve like that, it's not a big deal plus some review, i think todd was talking about how hard it would be to clean in the cut outs...just figured i'd let anyone else know that jumped on it the day it went up like i did

I would love to see pics of it, because honestly at first I also didn't think it was such a bad idea either. My plan is to use a tooth brush to keep those cut out clean, and keeping it clean is a concern.

You could always get another one darling .. use one as a beater, and the other as a collectors piece. :D I was actually thinking about trying to get the Skorite version for which looks good, so that I can do a comparison review of both brands.

Nikki, can you tell if the copper on the stingray x is coated? I am hoping so but thought I would check. Either way is fine by me but would help with cleaning.

Also the one we got from the USA warehouse the SS tube does not separate from the copper tube does it?

No, the SS tube does not separate from the copper on the SXK, its 1:1 with the original. I still didn't take it out of the wrapper yet, but with my bare eye, it does not look like its coated. I believe that Mark Todd said that his cleans up nice with a little vinegar, and I am like you, I want to keep mine clean.

ETA: for those that don't know, the Stingray X is 4mm shorter than the original SR, and it is the same size as the 4nine in 350 mode, which is 49mm. I will not be using it in 350 ;-)

If you're gonna do the vinegar thing though, don't forget to neutralize it afterwards. Any residual acidity of the vinegar can eventually eat through the metal. Same goes for lemon juice. You can rinse it with baking soda + water, then rinse off the baking soda, then dry. Then polish with Renaissance Wax. :2c: I MIGHT get desperate enough to do all that someday, but not yet - I'd have to want that mod REALLY bad, cuz I'm lazy! I was thinking rub-on poly though - just have to get around to playing with that.

This link is for a product, but has really good info on cleaning brass/copper: Briliant Polishes - How to Polish Brass and Copper
Note the no-nos: Brasso, carnuba wax, beeswax, etc.

And I'm glad you're not going 350 with the SRX. Had all the specs I want, but I opted not to buy one because I saw a pic of it in 350 mode that immediately evoked the image of a mariachi band.  So I needed to sit this one out for a minute. ...but I know you're doing it for safety. ;)

Looking good on that SR. I'm still not convinced to get that style. Don't know why. I was hyped about TS V3 also but don't know what's happening to the itchy finger. Lol.

Waiting for more pics of that thing unwrapped please:)

I love anything shiny, the Korean (?) scribbles and the yin yang thing on the button, but wasn't feeling any love for the general. No hate, but no love either. Maybe if I watch some Korean drama about him...

Sanding the bottom sharp edges of the 350 tube made all the difference in my 4nine. Made the switch a lot smoother and eliminated the crunchy feel of the button when firing :)
It made a huge difference in my comfort level. Just a few minutes of sanding to take off the harsh right angle of the edges.

My brushed brass with improved top cap from the group buy arrived today (as did the Stingray X, Infinite version from USA warehouse). Used the same 2400 grit sanding pad on the edges of this 4nine. Very comfortable to hold and fire. When I saw pictures of the 'improved' top cap I was underwhelmed. Now that I have one in front of me and have played with it some, I'm totally underwhelmed. It does what its supposed to at the cost of a flush fit, atomizer to top cap. For those who don't know what the improvement is, if you know what the Nemesis hybrid kit that FastTech offers you know the improvement. Basically you get a small disc of brass, flat, with a nipple on one side and a slot for a flat screwdriver on the other. Its outer edge has 510 connector threads. You thread this into the delrin piece of the top cap until the nipple contacts the center pin of the atomizer. In this way you can use any atty with the 4nine instead of just those with a long 510 connector and a center pin that extends out below the threaded outer part. Trouble is that the top cap of the 4nine is so thin there's almost no depth to screw the atomizer into. It will let you use any atty as I've said, but you won't want to ;)

On to the Infinite Stingray X. Just compared a Kayfun on the 4nine to a Kayfun on the X, both with 18650 batteries. The X was taller by the 4mm thickness of the top cap. Identical if I use the included hybrid adapter. The switch, as is typical of Chinese quality control (or lack thereof which explains the variations in experiences), is buttery smooth. Tubes have a brushed finish, again as typical of Chinese produced mods, that almost looks like machining marks instead of a real brushed finish. Consistent across tubes, seams are very good and are only visible upon close examination. If you just look at it, it appears seamless. About the cutouts and copper bit under... They look more like they were stamped than cut because the copper surface underneath isn't a smooth tube. Rather it appears as if its been embossed with a pattern that was designed to line up with the cutouts. You really don't get the impression of a copper tube within a stainless steel one. Rather you get the impression of a 2 layer tube and a design that's been punched through the stainless steel tube to expose the copper underneath. I'm sure when pictures are posted you'll see what I'm attempting to describe.

Because you are being the other Gemini twin right now  Weez, what is not to like? I think this is hands down the best looking mod released this year, at least so far. I need somebody to get the Turtle Ship V3, so I can see it up close ... this means you Weez! :p

I'm still busy finishing up a review at the moment, but I will get to it .. maybe by the then the reasonable Gemini twin will be back

I wasn't actually planning on using vinegar to clean it, but thanks for that info because I didn't know that about vinegar, or lemon juice. ;-) I have been using ketchup to clean my copper switches on the 4nine, and it works really well, but it is a little messy.

I think I will use toothpaste, and a toothbrush on it though. I have used toothpaste before on my Infinite brass Stingray when I first got it, but I wouldn't use the kind with baking soda on a polished finish, but it will be ok on this little bit of copper.

Cindycated what you mean mariachi? Pfft, this is so damn sexy I am jealous of it!

** Quick user update on SXK Stingray X **

I was not planning on using this tonight, but Doris messaged me and asked for feedback ... Out of the package this is simply gorgeous, and I love the finish on it, as I am a fan of brushed stainless steel. The threading is super fine and 20x.5 unlike the authentic, which is why I expected the threading to be different pitch, but it is the same as prior SR versions, while the authentic has a different thread pitch than the prior authentic versions, as per Mark Todd.

The one flaw that I notice is that my floating pin moves freely on its own, which is not truly problematic as it does not affect connectivity however ... the 510 threads on the top cap are deep, and short atomizer pins are not making a connection as a result. Case in point, my Infinite KFL V2 does not fire with this top cap, although it works just fine, beautifully in fact, with the hybrid adapter. Not to mention it looks fantastic with the hybrid adapter, even as I am concerned about the lack of insulation on it.

My other KFL with the super long 510 pin (that I usually use with my 4nine) works just fine with the top cap, no issues at all. So basically this is a heads up about short/flush 510 pins, in conjunction with this SR top cap. I believe that if the top cap was not designed with this lip at the very top, the short pin would be fine ... but it is what it is.

My switch .. my switch is AMAZING! Absolutely no sticking, crunching or any of that non sense, just a very smooth, and short throw. The tubes are virtually seamless, the logo is perfection in my opinion. Its just a stunning mod ... there is just this one issue with short 510 connection pins, so please be aware of this. :)

Where have I been? I just found out about this company from Mr. Joe. Should I or should I not get the Cooper Vanilla Mod for $16.50? That's just too good to be true.
Focalecig has these things called group buys. They trim out all the expenses. For example you have to pay to get a tracking number where a normal order includes it. Its only offered for a few days. I'd guess they've already made a deal with a manufacturer on the order of in a week we'll order at least xxx of whatever with payment up front how many can you deliver right away and what's the best price. So there's no stocking cost, it arrives and ships right out. Regardless of how they do it, they're sometimes amazing deals. If you're interested in the vanilla that sure seems to be a good price. Check out the photos of the mod. Focalecig has gotten pretty good about showing both the top cap and switch disassembled so you'll know pretty much exactly what you're ordering.

In the past few months they've had some great deals. Here's a few I remember. A rather decent stainless steel Nemesis for $12, a stainless 4nine for about the same, a stainless steel Vamo V5 for $20, brushed brass 4nine for $16.

Just remember that the mod will ship from China so expect shipping to be 2 weeks at least to get to you and that the group buys usually ship after the sale ends but they do show exactly when on the item description page.
