Hehe, I get your point.

For me, it's more the idea of starting down another road, when I am personally happy with the X2 / clearomizers. My fear, trying this, would be chasing the next low resistance / high resistance / tank / carto / atty etc to find the perfect blend when I am currently happy with the SI equipment I have. That's just me.

As far as the DIY stuff, it seems easy enough to try, and I am using all my existing equipment.

I am saying this from the perspective of knowing my own personality, and how I can find myself thinking "if only I had xxxxx then it would be great. Like I said in another thread, that is how I ended up with 17 aquariums around the house. Which reminds me, time to do the water changes on the 11 tanks downstairs. Bet you can't beat that for Friday night excitement!

Happy vaping!

Mark
I know what you mean, and I have a similar personality.
If when I first started vaping somebody would have told me that I'd be so engaged in all aspects of vaping like I've become...I would have told them they're crazy!

While I try to keep it in check, I'm really enjoying this new more healthy hobby (and the people I'm meeting here on ECF) so it's all in good fun.

I hadn’t been reading this thread until tonight, and it’s really got me thinking. I really like Volt products in general, but for the past couple of months my go-to vape has been Ego batteries with CE3s. The CE3s just seemed to work better on the Ego than X2 batteries, but I didn’t know why. Now I’m thinking that it’s because Ego batteries put out a little lower voltage than the X2.

I hope to be switching to using the T3 soon. I definitely think I’ll be trying both the Ego and X2 versions, because of the voltage difference.

Not only most noobs vape them at around 3.7v but many experienced people vape them at around that voltage too.

Actually, when I said " have noticed more noobs jumping straight into vv devices - so they are becoming more of a beginner thing than they used to be. Although I suspect most noobs are vaping them at 3.7 anyway." - I meant at 3.7, not around. :)

I also didn't bold anything I said.

I'm starting to be averse to hearing about "sweet spots" - as if what I'm vaping with isn't hitting mine.

ETA - sorry if that sounds grouchy - I have read too many main forum posts about vv I think.

Kiwi, you're statement is spot on. I just responded to a thread where a new vapor stated exactly that, and have seen many more throughout the forum. I love my 650 too and just ordered another, I have two 900's but leave them at home as they are a little large. My 78's go with me on the "short trips".

Being a noob myself, I felt like I was innudated with Ego Twist/Vivi Nova advice from everywhere, I already knew I was going to order the Volt as I knew someone who had used them consistently for over 7 months. But wow it was confusing the first few days in the forums trying to read all that information, etc. I even read in one New Member post, they were told to just skip everything everyone told them and get a Provari (I had to look it up to see what it was) and I was floored.

I kniow what you mean. I would never have started vaping if all that was recommended was a twist. It simply wasn't where my psychology was at.

I spent hours on the forum one day helping a guy who had started on Greensmoke, and had been a 10 a day lights smoker. He got talked into buying a twist, vivi nova and a certain PG/VG juice blend. He thought he could just unpack it all and vape off the bat. He didn't know what he was doing, what voltage went with what nova heads, or breaking in the wicks. What he really wanted was a KISS system less expensive than Greensmoke. He was so frustrated he nearly went back to cigs. He had some Greensmoke left as a back up or he would have.

I have also seen new people who say they were lightish smokers being told to buy provaris - but no-one tells them that while they are excellent quality they are also heavy compared to other pvs, and larger. I couldn't use a provari when I'm out during the day. There are places I have to go where I have to be discreet.

Sitting down, facing forward.
I always drives me nuts to see the "you need this mega-variable volt battery with the 20ml tank" type responses. My stock response is -

Think about what you are really trying to do. Do you want something that looks and acts like a cigarette? If so a mini system like Volt is probably the best thing to try. If you don't mind something that is relatively heavy and needs one hand to operate it, IE can't be used "no hands" like a cigarette, then try an inexpensive variable voltage battery and inexpensive tank system.

I know I would still be on cigarettes if I couldn't use the Volt hands free as is the case with almost everyone who is trying to quit. There are exceptions but they are relatively few and far between. Sometimes I think the "experts" forget how they started or view it as wasted time and money, disregarding the fact that it got them to stop tobacco.

Just my opinion, worth what you're paying for it, your results and mileage may vary, no warrantee or guarantee is expressed or implied.

I don't think anybody is suggesting that SI get rid of the 78's and prefilled carto's.

I agree whth what you guys are saying though. When I started I NEEDED something as close to an analog and as simple as possible. If the X2 and CE3 was the only thing out there I'd still be on analogs. Even to this day having a Twist and using CE3's as a mainstay I still always have a Volt 78mm in my pocket. I just like that form factor especially for driving.

When participating on the new members forum, like awsom140 I always ask some questions before making recommendations. Some people are comfortable jumping into a larger battery like a X2 right off the bat, others are more suited to the 78mm cig look-a-like. More often than not I suggest a Volt starter kit.

I hear ya. I actually also spent about two hours on the forum once helping a guy choose the kgo vv. He insisted he wanted vv.
It really is about where people are at.

I have to laugh,,,,,,,when I started (3 months ago), I wanted NOTHING other than a cig look a like,,,,,,,

now I want something larger JUST for the battery life LOL.

I actually briefly considered going for the twist,,,,,,,,,,I like a warmer vape, to be honest, it just FEELS and TASTES good to me,,,,,,,

but I am also a simple person,,,,,I don't want to worry about which ohms to buy ,etc,,,,,,,,,I just want to screw on a cartomizer and VAPE. I want to refill that carto,,,,,,,,,and I want a good idea how long my batt is going to last, so I can plan my day,,,,,

VVs batt life varies, depending on which voltage you vape it at,,,,,,,,,I couldn't for the life of me figure out the ohms thing,,,,,,,,,GAAH! forget it,,,,,X2 here I come LOL

maybe six months from now,,,,,,,IDK, I can see a simple VV like the Twist fitting in to my arsenal,,,,,,,,,but I can also see using my 78mms and my X2s for a long time to come too,,,,,nothing wrong with having more than one for different needs and times :)

Yup, the 78's and X2 can certainly provide you with a great vape for a long time to come.

With a Twist, you really don't need to worry about ohms, wattage and that sort of stuff...just use the same cartomizers or tanks you currently use. If you got them from SI then they are standard resistance devices and perfect for a Twist. The only thing is that most Twist or Twist-like batteries are 510 thread so you may need a cheap adaptor or get the 510 equivelant. But if SI DOES eventually get their own VV it will most likely be 808 thread and compatable with all of their other batteries.

As far as caculating vape time per charge, once you set it to the vape you like then after one or two charges you will know how long a charge lasts. Once again, very simple...just notice "it lasts all day" or "it poops out at around 6:30" just like you did with your 78"s.

I had planned to buy a mod to celebrate 6 months of not smoking. I have ordered one. :) That's after 6 months... I don't actually need a mod so I had to get over feeling a bit guilty - but I did want to celebrate.
Having said that - the Volts will still be the workday pvs. I am using my gorgeous purple 650 X2 more at work now. A colleague of mine wants one - we are going to plan out her SI buy. I really can't fault the Volts - they have been fantastic.

Congrats on 6 months smoke free!
I just hit that milestone and it feels great!

If it weren't for SI and all you guys here, I don't know if I would have made it.

Congratulations on reaching 6 months, that's a huge accomplishment! Don't feel guilty. You deserve something special and a mod is perfect for the occasion. Every time you use it it will remind you of how far you have come.

Thanks Bukket. I hadn't thought of that. Vaping Ry4 in a clearo on an X2 right now - its become my favourite combo.
I appreciate your kind thoughts.

Congrats on making six months, guys!

As far as VV is concerned I will admit to being curious about trying one. The problem, for me, is there are very limited choices in 808 and I'm not about to start fooling with a whole other thread system just to try VV, although I have found one that has interchangeable thread systems for 808 or 510. My biggest problem is that they are all manuals and I am not a big fan of manuals. Besides, the Volt system works pretty well for me anyway. That said,I think SI may be missing a fairly good market judging by what I see in the newbie thread. I'd estimate at least half of the newbies posting there end up going with some VV system. I'm not knocking 510 devices or the VV stuff that's out there, but SI seems to have done such a good job with the basic stuff it would seem only natural to add something a little more "advanced".
