Quit smoking 4 yrs ago tomorrow. Accidentally too like @ENAUD and a few others have said. Started with ego twists and Iclear 16’s. The real game changers for me were pro tank 2’s, Provari’s then Russians and Kayfuns.
Been happy at that point ever since.

Don’t really know when the above gear was first available.

Those are the ones that stand out!

The most important --- discovering vaping, finding ECF, fully switching to vaping....and soon after acquiring an 18650 comfy mod to seriously help resolve "battery fatigue" and cycling through several cig alikes and egos a day.

I made the switch from smoking to vaping Nov. 13th, 2011 so just over 6 years ago.

For me the game changer was those itty bitty CE3 clearomizers. Had to fill 'em with a needle but the taste was soooo much better than the cartomizers I was using. That was circa 2012 I think.

These were and still are my favorite topper of all time. I have been lovin' them since 2013

ECF as a game changer is certainly true in my case but moving forward it seems to be dying down.

For me I was always looking for tips on grinding tanks for more air and whats the latest wicking stuff and ECF came up in searches.

One day I must have had a question and decided to join and found a great place on the innerwebz to hang out.

Here in NY smokes went over 10 bucks a pack a long time ago so the low hanging fruit was long gone in NY. If you where still smoking here it was to the bitter end. Over the last couple of years vape gear has gotten good enough to appeal to the die hard smokers. A heavy smoker can walk into any of the eleventy brazillion vape shops that have opened in the last year and plouk down less then a hunny and walk out with a setup with plenty of air, all day battery life, leak free and every other compliant we had just a couple years ago.

I dare say if I had smoked until say yesterday vaping may very well have gotten me to quit but I'd call it extremely unlikely I'd have found ECF.

I quit smoking in 2012 with a eGo-C kit, but I was really motivated . The game changer for me was my first mech mod, a Nemesis clone, and an Aga-T2 tank using SS mesh. Back then running 25 watts was generally frowned on by a bunch of folks, but that was then. How times have changed. I still have that Aga-t and some SS mesh ... and I think I'm going to give it a whirl again

Ryedan, thank you, and it's ALWAYS nice to be in your company, hon!! Yeppers, give that meshed Aga a whirl and a twirl. It's funny how we loved some gear, and still can enjoy them even after "moving on".

I remember when 15 watts was really high, and the max power on regulated mods.

And that reminds me of another game changer. The lil ol' iTazte VV V3! Changed the game for my purse mods anyway, and it's a HUGE max of 11 watts!

I'm about two years in with vaping and started with the Blu. The game changer for me was an iStick 20w paired with a Kanger Protank mini 3 tank and I was thrilled at the time as vaping was still pretty new to me. Things took off from there. The iStick is still working today.

First "device" was a Blu disposable in early 2013. I was in the process of fulfilling a New Year's resolution to quit smoking and spent the first few months with nasty gum and useless patches. That little Blu was the first thing that made me think I could do it. Game Changer.

The game has been changing ever since.

Finally quit smoking completely in May 2017. It took sub-Ohm and direct lung vaping to do it.

I quit smoking on the ego batteries and ce4 clearo's. Worked fine didn't care much for the leaking that despite YouTube video's I could never fix.. but it was a fine vape. Inexpensive and kept me from smoking.

What was the game changer as it were was the iTaste 134 mini. Big bulky heavy thing but it was my first low watttage variable wattage device. The flavor was great with the included clearo - putting the ce4 to shame, and vaping became truly enjoyable for the first time and I realized what vaping COULD actually be.

So, that was the game changer for me.

Yeah it had hanging strings, but I'd have to get into my under the bed storage box to tell you which one as I kept it... lol. Still works. Right now i am unable to drag it out... maybe another time I'll remember to do that and post it.

Fun thread, @Katdarling. I hope everyone enjoys my story and pics along the way.

My journey began with cigalikes from Smokeless Image in 2012. They got me off of 'da smokes, but I quickly grew frustrated with the poor battery life and limited e-liquid capacity. I got my first mechanical mods about a month into vaping, an AltSmoke Silver Bullet and BB, topped with a cartotank which solved both problems and was my first game changer.

It didn't take me long to find IBTanked cartotanks which were the "thing" back in the day. They were affordable and of high quality. I developed the "drip & flick method" of filling a cartomizer for ECF followers. Baditude's Cartotank Setup Guide I probably had a dozen cartotanks, each set up simultaneously with different flavors.

About 3 months into vaping I purchased my first Provari. I wanted to try variable voltage to adjust my vape on the fly. I'll say the Provari was my top game changer. Why Provari? I was one of the founding members of the Provarinati on ECF. A Provari/IBTanked cartotank was my favorite setup for years.

I tried most of the early clearomizers back in the day, but none really compared to the cartotanks flavor-wise. I experimented with the first Genesis-style rebuildable tanks -- (AGA T) -- but they had to be held verticle to prevent leaking, had to be tilted sideways to feed the wick, and required SS wicks, which were a pain. Along came the Kayfun Lite Plus RTA, a gift from a friend, which had incredible flavor and didn't leak, but in hindsight it was somewhat of a pain to wick properly and had extremely tight airflow.

In 2014 I began working for a vape shop and reluctantly retired the Provari/cartotank/Kayfun combos and got into sub-ohm vaping with a Patriot RDA and Velocity RDA on my old Silver Bullet mech, -- great flavor and vapor production to become a new game changer.

About 11/2 years ago a friend gifted me a RX200 (my first high wattage mod) and original Crown sub-ohm clearomizer tank. This was the first clearomizer that I could fall in love with and became a gamechanger. And although I only vape under 40 watts, I grew to enjoy sub-ohm vaping, another game changer. I used both the RDA's (on the SB) and Crown tanks (on the RX200) for about a year, then grew tired and lazy of rebuilding and wicking the RDA's every 3 - 4 days and began to use the RX200/Crowns almost exclusively.

Today I use a JAC Vapour series B DNA75W regulated mod with an original Crown clearomizer and couldn't be happier. K.I.S.S. (keep it simple stupid) has always been my motto. The Jackie is like a powerful Mini-Provari and the Crown is so simple easy to use without sacrificing flavor and vapor. Thanks Kat.

I started with a Ego Type B. I switched to CE4 Clearomizers and then EVODs and a few other things. The real game changer tank for me was the Kanger Subtank....I used it for a very long time.
