Got mine today as well and gave it a thorough cleaning as I do all my attys regardless. Mine was already probably clean enough to vape out of the package but the drip tip was another story completely. I ran 4 q-tips through it and turned them all black before it was finally clean. Maybe that's where the taste you're getting is coming from?

Mine was clean, but a ran it through the ultrasonic anyway. No reason not to be cautious. ;)

Got mine. Vaping great. 6 wraps of 26g, 2mm ID at 0.5 ohms. Hybrid on the,WAE2 at 20 watts.

I didn't wash it but I should have. I taste machine oil. I didn't want to wait to build it but I guess I'll dump this tank and start over in the morning.

Great improvement over the beta.

If I have one complaint, it's having to convert the thing to 510 in order to properly coil and fire it on the Fire Meter...

I'd say the flavor is quite a bit better than the squape...airflow is definitely a bit more restrictive though.
The flavor certainly is impeccable, and better than anything I've gotten out if the Squaoe (which I think still has great flavor, Q be damned, lol).

I really like the draw on the GEM though, it's so smooth...and I've been hitting it direct to lung with wonderful results (this coming from an almost exclusive MTLer, it's just so rewarding taking direct pulls) :)

Totally agree! For those that prefer MTL, the GEM is amazingly smooth and the flavor....omg the flavor is incredible. It's kinda like...you almost want to chew on each vape, it's that good!

My squape and aqua SE's will certainly be taking a break :)

Agreed, the only tank I have that is comparable is the Erlk, though in flavor I wouldn't say it's better, just different. On several other aspects though, the Gem kicks ..... I put up with the ErlK's issues for its flavor profile, but because of Gem's ease of use they are in constant use while the ErlK has to wait until I have time for its more picky setup.

You can leave the hybrid on your wizard and simply place the build deck on that and use the knurled piece to hold down the build deck. It took me a while to put the puzzle pieces together to figure that out. No need to convert to the 510 for builds and dry burning.

Definitely. The erlk had great flavor. After a tank, it will give me the burning hits after refill. The airflow was so fluttered on that thing too. Then it just leaked when ever it wanted to. The vapor from the drip tip was so hot that it burned my tongue.

The gem has 0 issues. The juices holes were a little restrictive and when I pulled my build out, it was a little too dry for my liking. Regardless of that, the hits never tasted burnt. I opened up the juice holes one drill bit size larger and the wick stays nice and juicy. This gem never leaks! Wooohoooo! That's a huge plus.

The gem looks so tiny in person compared to the pics on this thread. This is just a work of art. The machining is just so perfect. The threads are so immaculate. The flavor, mmmmmm, so so so great. Couldn't be any happier.

You are brave IDV opening up the juice holes but it had crossed my mind when I eventually get a build in it.

Nice to hear it works for you and to know it is option though. :)

I was scared to do it at first but I have two gems so I figured, why not? It worked out great. Not a single drop leaked, even when it was sitting over night.

I just use TC to avoid dry/hot hits, so it's rarely a problem with any atomizer I use. If the wicking is running dry, one can use close the AFC and gently pull air through the drip tip (clean minds folks, clean minds!) until a couple bubbles pop up out of the wick holes. However, it's quite understandable if someone who loves their gem doesn't exactly want to look like they are loving it a bit too much. ;)

If the chimney wasn't one piece, that would make it easier to have different size juice ports (just change cylinders), but my guess is that there wasn't enough room in the design for it (or it would have added considerable expense).

I could use tc if i want to but I'm actually liking kanthal more. Just a nice consistant hit with a properly wicking build. I hate having to do that juice pull on any atty I have. Opening the holes just keeps my wick nice and juicy by normally vaping. I pulled the deck out after my first, second and third build just to see that it wasn't quite saturated to my liking. No biggy, I have a drill. I even tried to get it to leak by filling it with the afc open but it didn't even flood.

I'm enjoying my GEM and still feeling it out, second day (morning) now. My build it standard Q build, 28g, 2.4 coil, 8 wraps @ 1.4 ohms. I was vaping at 14 watts, turned it up to 15 watts and started getting dry and burned hits. This morning I was getting burned dry hits at 13 watts and now I'm at 12 watts, no burned taste but still dry. Maybe my cotton is a little to tight, maybe plugging my juice channel, I don't know. I trimmed the ends as close as I could. Going to re-wick and give it a go again.

I hear you, but it's always been my ritual to build and test all of my attys away from any particular firing device...;)

What do you use to dry fire? Burning Tab Master Flaming Pizza Roll (I couldn't rekember the names of those cool as fuuuu build station thingies by Friday Morning). I really wanna pick up one of those, so damn cool.
