heres a link to what i was thinking about. Obviously size is of the essence but if I could find the right size then maybe it could work.

heres the quick connect.

heres the rivet

These are only ideas, but that is why we started this thread. It would have to be reasonably priced as well. I would look into pricing on the quick connect idea if people liked it and if it would work. The rivets would probably work and they are cheap.

Hey,

This might be a little overkill but hear me out. Quick connect posts. You wrap your kanthal around the wick and and the top part of the post just snaps on. Kinda like those keyrings that separate in the middle. They have the little metal ball thingy. Hmmmmm...... Would be cool

Or using those hollow type rivets. I'll find a pic of one and post it. The top of the rivet could be the top washer. Just cut the top off another, and a spring and your good to go. Same idea, just more finished looking.

DAN, your input would be appreciated.

The quick connect post would be a good idea (assuming they are ss and small enough), but would need to be tested before including in co-op.

very cool that you're doing this - I missed the last one...

1.) What do you prefer to use for the positive and negative posts. (example, the nail w/ spring, or screws to hold in the kanthal wire.)? - I'd lean towards the screw - just looks cleaner to me- but I'd go with whatever everyone else thinks...

2.) Do you want a piece of polycarbonate tubing that you have to cut down yourself, or would you prefer that it came to you already cut to size, with the edges beveled and smoothed? - as everyone else said- if you can cut and bevel percisely with tools I don't have and don't want to buy, by all means do- otherwise, most of us can cut them ourselves...

3.) Should we include 1 ce2 clearomizer in the order?
for me - yes - I don't have any - I have CE2XL's (hate em) but not clearomizers ... i'd say include 2.

I asked the plastics guy about some small tubing to replace the ink pen ends and this is what he has. =]
The only tubing I stock with that small of a OD is a 1500’ coil of nylon. $120.00/1500’
It would work and wouldn't cost that much but good lord what would we do with all the extra. I wouldn't even be able to include enough in each order to get rid of even an 1/8th of it. =]

I got the message back from The Mesh company and it looks like the shipping cost on a roll will be more expensive than just ordering the sheets. I think that with the size of the A3 sheet we will order them and I will cut them in half. So we will order 50 A3.

The extras they send with are scraps and are not always the 400 mesh. Whatever they send as extras I will split up between all the orders so everyone gets extras to play around with.

Still waiting for a final price on the tubing.

I think we are getting very close.

I would like to know if anyone has tried this mesh and if it works as well as the #400 this is actually what they send as the extras. It could be anything from these specs and smaller.

Stainless Steel Super Fine Woven Wire - A3 Sheet
Ref: WSSSF-A3
An A3 (420mm x 297mm) sized sheet of Stainless Steel woven mesh.

As our stock of #400 and #325 mesh is not always available to be used for A3 sheets, we've created this Super Fine listing.

This listing covers all of our meshes with a 0.05mm aperture and below.

Wire Diameter: 0.03mm and below
Aperture: 0.05mm and below
Open Area %: 38% and below

The wires on this material are extraordinarily fine and can be cut using anything from kitchen scissors upwards.

Price: £7.99

Here are the specs on the #400. I think the above would be a better purchase as the specs are not that different and the cost is a lot less.

Mesh Count: #400 mesh - 400 wires or holes per linear inch.
Wire Diameter: 0.025mm
Aperture: 0.039mm - this is the hole size and it is square
Open Area %: 36.8%

Can someone give me an update on the ETA of Dan's parts please, like when he will be getting them and when he will ship ? Thanks

The tops are suppose to ship the 27th of July, and the bottom the 4th of Aug is the word I got. The 38 days for production was business days :(

Any idea about how long shipping will take and when they will get shipped out to us? I'll be in Florida for about a week in the middle of August and I'd hate to have that sitting on my porch. I guess I can put a hold on my mail...

You will probably get a quicker response over in Dan's thread. =] I would guess everyone would get them in 3 to 6 days if he uses flat rate shipping.

I think the bic tube is 1/8 od-
This might be a good alternative - can handle heat and chemicals pretty well:
Chemfluor® PFA Tubing | U.S. Plastic Corp.

Good find
1/16" ID x 1/8" OD x 1/32" Wall PFA Tubing
Will the ID work with the wick and terminal setups??? I would think so... We could add it as it would probably be about $1.50 to each person and if it doesn't work we could still fall back on canalizing the pens =] I would like to avoid the ink blot test myself =]

Good for plain PG juice but straight VG guys I think will have problems with wicking.
Dan

I can vouch for the wicking issues with VG users. I am having to alter my mixtures to 80/20 PG/VG to get my SS400 to wick properly. Even at 70/30 I have problems.
