So far this is what we have for a shopping list.

Gen body
32G Kanthal
O-rings
Tubing - waiting on final price options - should have today
SSmesh - Supper fine will be a variety of about #300 or smaller
ceramic sleeve -for wick so you don't have to oxidize the SS
springs
washers
nails
22G wire - For positive terminal
CE2 - do we want 1 or 2
tubing to replace pen ends ????
bubble wrap and small baggies for packaging

Let me know if I'm missing anything. I believe we have everything sourced except the nails and we may omit them if it's too much of a pain. Fender can update if there is anything else.

So far to follow Subabatdans build you will still need 2 old cartomizers to make the negative connection the way he did.

We will be charging shipping for each order as it will make packaging much less confusing to pack each box the same and prevent mess ups on my end =]
We are also thinking we will limit to two orders per person to allow the most number of people access as possible. If we are coming up short we will open up for more individual orders. If we get more orders I will ask if we can up the production to 150 or 200 depending on the interest we get but it will be dependent on the machinist.

This is where we are at right now. Let us know if there are any major issues we need to discuss. We should be very very close to starting =]

Actually 4 old cartomizers for harvesting/making the beveled washers or the m1.6 nuts. You can us the cut off tube of the CE2 connector for the pos tube. But you will need 1-2 old carto tubes for the neg post (depends on how you make it).

=] If you use the washers we are including you only need 2 carto's =] :p

I think your list looks good. As far as the CE2 and the tubing, that is up to you guys. Personally I am going to be ordering a 5 pack of clearo's just for this project in case I need them, and if I don't I will have spares for other mods. As far as the tubing, I will be "procuring" some pens from work that look like they will fit the job. Actually, I was going to cut the ends off the tubes and still use them at work.

Also, since you have that nice list of items, can we also include suppliers and part numbers when this gets kicked off. I can think of other mods where I would use some of those parts.

We will definitely add a fully linked list once we finalize everything.

Having missed the first CO-OP I am thrilled that another is starting up for this. I have been following most of the Scubagen threads adamantly in hopes that another would start.

With this being said, here are my thoughts on the 3 options posted

1) Scuba has done alot of work with the nail and springs method and it seems like a solid way to do it. However, the springs would likely need to be included in the "kit" in order for it to work for everyone.

2) Precut tubing would be awsome as I am sure that many people (myself included) dont have a reliable method of accurately cutting them. Although it might be more work for whoever is organizing this, maybe there could be an option to have those added to individual orders. That way the people that dont need them can get a less expensive kit and those that cant make them can pay a little more for them.

3) I think it is a pretty safe bet that everyone in this forum has a basic understanding of how to make modification with a dremel and likely have tons of dead or dying CE2's around. But again, this could be an option at an additional cost.

Just my $.02

Ditto! These are exactly the responses I would give. Can't wait!

Dan,

Why did you choose to use the bottom part of a carto for the beveled washers instead of buying washers. Just wondering.

Will any type of carto work for this, or does it have to be special?

Do the nails have to be 19gauge to work with your instructions? Any special material for conductivity reasons?

I would say to forget the 1/8 tubing. I know it's only a $1.50 ea person plus a little extra to ship, but pens are about as abundant as water. People got'em and tons of em. Everything is pretty much set. Tonight I will work on final prices that include shipping. Then I will speak with Ed to get the final numbers from him. Super close.

Lastly. I would like to include the nails. I would think length doesn't matter because you cut the tip off anyway. What material should the nails be made from. I would think that's important for conductivity. And does the gauge HAVE to be 19 to work. Is there any flexability there?

They CANNOT be 18, it is too thick, 20 is ok but would not go beyond that.

We will start an order thread once we have finalized all of the parts.

I do believe that the only thing we have left is to get a price on the Polycarbonate tube. For some reason my local plastics company is taking forever to give me a price even after several discussions. At this point we will probably just buy in bulk and I will cut it down to 8" chunks. I will call them one last time this morning to see what they can do, otherwise we will be going elsewhere. I know of another company but it is a 1 1/2 hour drive to pick it up from them.

Can that company that is a 1 1/2 away ship it to you. It won't cost much. I really prefer the Pre-cut/Pre-beveled. I'm getting one for dan. I promised him one on me to show my gratitude for all the help he has been to me and letting us use his drawings and "how-to" guide. I'm gonna get 2 for me and I'm just gonna put dans name on the list for an order, but I'll pay for his stuff. Least I could do. He still might want another one though. That's up to him

Good on ya fender, I'm sure all of us ordering would be willing to pitch towards one for Dan, without him this co-op probably would not be possible.

Well, not to be too .... (thats what my wife calls it). Technically without Dan this co-op wouldnt be possible at all since its his creation. :p
