dwcraig1. Nice friggin coil. Looks a little tight, but probably isn't as tight as it appears if your results are good. That is some fluffy wick, what is that Burlap? Just bustin yer balls. Nice job man, thanks for the tutorial. For real though, cotton?
I made that coil just for to post picture of it as one of our members was having problems not wicking. But I will use that coil on next rebuild, once paperclip is removed it becomes looser but after it gets wet it swells a little. You did see my earlier posts explaining that they are from a commercial dust mop?

My first try with u shaped wick failed because of the coil touching the spacer on negative post just as Boubonman's did. I just pulled out the mesh wick that I used and gave it a going over with ohm meter. On next rebuild I will give it a go also. My research tells me that cotton should be better but I would like to see for myself.
Edit: no silica for sure

Well I failed (again) due to the wick conducting, I'm pretty sure that my mesh is not the right grade, will have to order some.
But I do know where to salvage some short screws of the correct thread for+ and- posts. Toshiba 2.5 inch IDE laptop hard drive, they hold the interface to housing.

Ooooh, I never thought about the hard drives! I probably have a dozen old hard drives I've bean meaning to disassemble and wipe. (I literally wipe them, with Drano. You can't recover data if it's been dissolved and flushed). Do they have countersunk heads? The screws in both my Vivi tanks are countersunk-type, which is just beyond stupid.

heads were flat both top and bottom, instead of Drano use a hammer, go green
( screws looked to have real good nickel plating) They seemed to hold wire just fine.

Thought this was worth sharing, unless I'm late to the party lol. I found out that my old Smoktech DCTs fit the Vivi perfectly, and look better than the cloudy tank it came with.

Actually...I think I remember Pbusardo saying something about this in his review of the vivi...if only I paid more attention lol.
When GV's Phoenix Raven tank arrives( this week supposedly) mouth piece should fit it well, on regular DC tank carto, is going to flood because o-ring is not there.

GV is now offering replacement tubes for the Vivi tank in a slew of colors, swear I was just asking about this on their sub forum earlier yesterday lol. You'll have to let me know what you think about the Raven tank, I have one of their CE9s coming, along with a Scorpion SCT, and a Smok Titan (screw tank).

Now I get to patiently wait for the mail...patiently lol.

I was doing two different mods the other day, the ViVi tank with cotton wicks and some XL CE3 clearomizers and I have to say that while I have the ViVi tank working good I have never seen a low budget atomizer perform like my ce3's. They are 3.2 ohm and the only thing I have done is to grind off some of the center tube where it fits into wick cup.View attachment 126351
