in the nj woods
mine got hot with the 2.0 kantal. Am not getting the hang of that one yet.
Ohm all over the place but most of the time in the 1.3 to 1.5 range. Thats when mein gets Hot.
With the 0.16 kantal and 3 wraps all is fine. Smooth hit and lots of vapor with normal temperature.

Don't know if that helped debb.

not sure what I'm doing yet...lol..all new to me...followed the directions to a T...so maybe the wire...came with the gen...just says..0,20mm-42,97ohm/m+/-5%

Don't know about the short. With the wick you can do either way.
On the German forum they spoke about that. Someone mentioned they did let it stick only a little into the bottle to assure the use of most liquid. I tried both the short and the long version and both times the bottle got empty.
It was also mentioned that they did not want to add that (1st or 2ed version GLV) to avoid confusion.

I picked up a pre-assembled GLV while awaiting my unassembled version to arrive. There is a pic below on the SS Don. Looks good. Given some other comments I've seen, I was concerned about the workmanship, build, etc. Here are my thoughts so far:

- workmanship is very good. The walls are thinner than the GTUS, but that makes it quite a bit lighter. Threads are good, I haven't had any issues there. There is a slight squeak when putting the top on, but I think that has to do with the walls being relatively thin. I assume some vaseline will fix this anyway.

- pre-build is also good. There is a tiny bit of epoxy (or whatever they used) around the very bottom of the bolts, but not much. I'm still not sure if or how much I need to be concerned about this. I haven't noticed any strange tastes or smells. I realize that doesn't mean there is no issue here, but at least there are no obvious odors or tastes (that would really concern me).

- I like the little bottles. They only hold 1.5ml, but that lasts a pretty good while and refilling is very quick and easy. Also easy to see how much juice is left.

- Performance is great. It took me about 20 minutes to prepare a wick and put it all together. Throat hit is great, vapor is great, taste is great. Working like a charm, really. I've had a few weeks to practice making wicks on the GTUS, so I'm getting better at that, and this one is working really well. The relatively small bottle top seems to cut down on possible leaking, as I haven't had any juice yet come out of the air hole (after about 8 hours of use).

- I like the screw-on plastic tip. Does anyone know what size/type of tip this is? It's not a 510, and I don't recognize it so I wouldn't even know where to begin if I needed to replace it.

Bottom line, I'd say this is a sold and well-performing genisis atty. Love it.

James, Great review!

That looks sweet on top a SS Don. On my SS Don, I was also thinking about getting the KICK and using the extender tube with a 18490 IMR battery for the ultimate vaping experience. Do you think it's worth it?

I've been thinking about the kick too. However, after using these genisis attys for about a month (starting with the GTUS), I really don't feel the need for it. The don with high drain batts coupled with the genisis gives amazing performance. I might feel differently down the road, who knows. Also, because of the size of these attys, I use the don almost exclusively in mini mode. With the kick and the atty, I would feel like I'm carrying around a light saber.

TF! Obi wan, I mean James, thanks. I usually use my Don @ 7.4V with a 801. I like the big, warm clouds of vapor. Is the draw airy or warm and full?

WOW, 7.4 volts, that is a lot. I tried 6 volts for a while and never really got used to it. When I went to the genisis attys, I went back down to 3.7 and have really enjoyed it. At 7.4 volts, I'm guessing you would need quite a few wraps on your coil. I usually just go with 4 wraps at 3.7 and vapor production and throat hit are great.

As for warmth, I would not consider the vapor on the GLV to be all that warm. Certainly nothing like you're going to get with CE2, where the coil is directly below your mouth. The warmth of vapor is not much of an issue to me, so the GLV is great for my vaping style. I know that some have had complaints with the GTUS that the vapor isn't warm enough, and I would say the GLV is pretty close to the GTUS in that department.

As for the draw, I would say it's pretty much on par with a standard 510 atty. Seems just about right to me. It's very close to the GTUS in that department as well (maybe a slightly tighter draw than the GTUS, but not much)

James, Again thanks for your very helpful insight.

I've tried many different variations of vaping, from the beginner RN4081, to a Mr. Puffer top feeder, the Vapezilla (shudder…) 510HV 510LR, 901HV, DSE-801 HIGH Power (I really like this one for going out), ego-T, Indulgence v2 (poor button and finish). But I always come back to my SS Don.

I guess my road ahead is clear;
1) receive my Genisis.
2) getting it running at 3.7v.
3) Figure out what it's going to take to get it running at 7.4v.
4) Compare the experiences.
5) Enjoy living longer ;-)

tried everything ...i guess the short happens when I put the tube on...its good til then....might have to sell it....tried for 2 days...batts get hot...still trying tho...

Debb, I believe lorderos33 is the stateside person to contact in the event you have received a faulty unit. I think that was posted in the original GLV/Kronos thread that got closed. Can't hurt to get in touch with him and see what he has to say about possibly fixing it for you.

Deb, do you have a Ohmmeter?
Than measure the contacts of the bottom part. There might be a short cut.
If that is ok have an close eye on oxidising the mesh in that range were later the resistance wire will be around the mesh. Roll the wire tight around the mesh.
Pay attention that no wire end has contact to the middle part. It sounds that something happens like this when it works without the middle part and doesn't work when you screw them together.

A word to Production
In production you are good when your failure rate is below 3%. You are very good when when the rate is at 2%. You are a liar if tell that you are below.

I saw a video where somebody tested the Genisis. What he showed there was an item which I would return immediately.
