I posted this on another forum too, but thought I would add it here as well. Some have had issues with the tubing or teflon used to hold the bottom of the wick between the posts. In the GLV I put together, I replaced the tube with (i) a nylon standoff (1/8" OD, 1/4" length, 0-80 thread size, McMaster part no. 96110A089), and (ii) a 0-80 1/8" stainless screw (McMaster part no. 91793A052). You put the spacer on top between the positive and negative posts and screw it into place from below with the screw. I had to modify the spacer by (i) cutting it basically in half, as it is too long at 1/4", and (ii) drilling it out a little bit where the wick sits, to make room for the relatively wide wick. I also had to trim down the shoulder spacers used for the posts a little bit to get everything to fit. Once it's in there, you can screw it down tight so it isn't going anywhere. Works really well. I would show pictures, but my GLV is assembled. However, I'm going to have to re-glue the connector, which keeps coming off, so I should be able to get some pics in the next few days and will post when I have them.

One note about the screw - I don't think you can use just any 0-80 screw. The head has to be wide enough that it won't fit through the middle hole in the GLV base part. The one I listed above appears to be the only one with a wide enough head, and it is just barely wider than the hole - fits perfectly.

I just got some 1/2 dram bottles to check - Diameter is fine, the length requires a longer tube (ghost protocol style) and the lid is flat on the inside (no insert tube on cap) so it can't just be cut down without some type of gasket, etc. I'm thinking the right size of nylon insert glued into the inside of the cap may work - just not tested yet. The 3ml plastic dripper bottles have the same issue with the length of the tube, but do thread into the original cap - I have not confirmed that they work yet.

Sadly, even though I've gotten everything together to start playing in the shop, a couple of trips to the hospital have stopped progress on this for me. It may be a while till I can fire up the shop again. Right now, I'd say the 3ml dripper bottle is the best bet, double the capacity seems to make more sense. Check the ghost protocol thread for instructions on that mod - should work fine on the G-LV.

If I get a chance to work on it, I'll put the info up as I test it out.

I have one pre-assembled unit and another that I put together myself. I'm having a recurring problem with the one I put together - I can't get the battery connect to stay on for more than about a week or so. I have used two different standard epoxys (Gorilla and Devcon), and some JB Weld steel-reinforced epoxy putty. They all 3 worked for about a week or so, then the connector starts to loosen and then come off. Any thoughts or suggestions on this? Thank you.

I assembled mine and filled the entire cavity with high temp hot melt glue as noted in the build instructions. It absolutely does not leak and the connector is solid as a rock and does not move at all.

Sorry to great you aren't feeling well Teach. One small difference between the gtus and glv for making the ghost protocol mod is the 19mm and 18 mm OD, respectively.

sent from my HTC genisis using Tapatalk

Thanks asdaq!

Good to know on the OD. I was planning to heat and shrink it over the threads - I hear that takes a while, but thought it might produce a better end result.

Thanks for the idea Teach.:toast:

I tried the 3ml plastic dripper bottle and it was too long. So I cut it down retaining 2CM of the tube. I then took a 3mm disposable pipette and cut off 15mm of the bulb which I then worked onto the opening I had made by cutting the dripper bottle. You need to twist and turn it working as far down the tube as possible.

I checked capacity on the glass bottle which is 1.5 ml. With the modified dripper bottle it is just under 3 ml. ;) almost double the capacity.

This modified bottle screws onto the installed glass bottle top much easier that the glass bottle does & I have no leaks.
I also added an extra o-ring on top of the one already installed where the top metal cone threads onto the bottom unit of the genisis. If you would prefer you could just shorten the dripper bottle a bit and wouldn't need the o-ring.

With this modification I can see me using this Genisis more. :)

If you try this modification and find you get no vapor I have found I sometimes need to make an adjustment to the airflow by loosening the top cap. I kind of like it as I can adjust the draw this way.

Just a note of advice - I used to use JB Weld, but I found that PG gradually DISSOLVES it. Found that LocTite amber colour epoxy is resistant to PG.
Only my experience with JB Weld.
Hope you got it fixed!

The Genesis LV is a great design, and wicks extremely well. :vapor: I've been on the same coil / wick for over a week now. The vapor production is great, and the flavor excellent. :)

The hard, plastic mouthpiece had to go.. It leaked air despite an O ring installed, so I forced in a silicone soft-tip for a LEO 4ml dual coil carto. It looks more in proportion to the LV IMO, and is air-tight. Tightened up the draw more to my liking also.
