WEEK 2 UPDATE:

I thought I'd list a few observations from my first 2 weeks of using this piece of true craftsmanship.

SETUP: 300 Mesh; 0.20 Kenthal; SS Don; 18490 AW IMR; Kicked VV insert; 50/50 DIY winthol juice

The fit and finish is amazing. I thought my SS Don was smooth, but this has an almost mirror finish. Every piece fits together like butter.

Creating the wick/coil was too easy. Being somewhat mechanically inclined, I was still concerned about creating one for the first time. As per the instructions; I rolled the wick, seasoned it, wrapped the kanthal 3 times around it, adjusted the the coils for a nice even glow, pulled out the volt meter to determine the resistance, which was 2.8 (good, right?). Believe it or not, I'm still using it, and it gets better with age! It's hitting amazingly now after 2 weeks.
Note: about every 3rd day, I'll disassemble it, check it, clean/adjust it if need be.

Then I decided to play around with the adjusting the Kicked, to see if I could tell the difference.

Here's what I've concluded;
• Setting = 5, vapor = light, flavor = best, battery life = 5hrs+
• Setting = 7, vapor = medium, flavor = good, battery life = 3.5hrs+
• Setting = 10, vapor = CLOUDS, flavor = ok, battery life = 2hrs+
• So to get better flavor and battery life, I set it @ 7.5-8 and forget it.

I've had no leaking issues. Probably because how well the wick fits into the casing/bottle hole. Nice and snug.

Next update will cover my experience with changing the mesh/kenthal setup. I'll be trying the 0.16 Kenthal. Then doing the same adjustments to the Kicked.

That's it for now. :)

Great review, Sanjosse. So you decided to go with the Kick after all. I haven't gotten one yet, still debating about it. I haven't simply because performance has been so good without it. Do you have a pic of your setup with the full Don and GLV? Just wondering if it does, in fact, look like a light sabre.

VapRon, I received my shipping notice too, a few days ago, so I'm expecting my package hopefully some time next week. I accidentally deleted the kanthal PMs while doing a PM cleanout, but I'm pretty sure it's you I planned to do a wire exchange with, right? If so, I'll PM you as soon as I get my stuff. :)

Yep that was me. Waiting patently with you :pop: We have some expierience in that hihi.
Seem anything I order has a test my patience challenge attached to it. P18, P+, and now Shockwave.
But in the end I have mastered al challenges and am one happy vaper :banana:

@ James, Thanks!

LOL! Yeah it does kinda look like a lightsaber. Check it out.

@ VapRon, do you know what your resistance is using the 0.16, and how many wraps to you use?

Should see my Genisis with the P18 . Light Saber is a toothpick compared to that hihi.

With 3 wraps I get about 1.8 ohm and with 4 about 2.2.
Depending on how tight I screw the screws on it goes down another 0.1 - 0.2 ohm

I had gone mad the other day. Very little vape. Checked kantal,mesh,batteries and P18 , P+. The Kantal was not broken so I checked the ohm. I change the batterie of the tester and again no good. So I decided to change the wick and kantal even though I did it a few days ago. Thats where I regonized that one screw from the kantal post was a little loose.
Tighted a bit and all was fine. Guess it was one of those days again hihi

@VapRon, I did a 3 wrap of the Kanthal 0.016 and WOW! I had to turn down my Kicked to 5. I'm not even sure if I want to try turning it up. As it stands, I'm getting tons of vapor and actually more flavor than the 0.20 Kanthal 3 wrap set at 7.5, I had been using. Granted the draw is a tad cooler, but hey, I vape mostly menthol based juices anyway. Hopefully this will extend my batteries longevity too.

@Uwe and Crew,
Again, thank you all for such a controllable, easy to set-up/use, answer to the "What atomizer do I use?" question.

I am still thinking about a kick. The Genisis gives me already great options and with batteries fresh to about 3.65 I am fine.
Fresh ones at 4.2 are real great though.
As a heavy vaper I need 1 to 2 18650 and 1 to 2 18500 since I recharge them at 3.6 isch.
With the .20 Kantal it was one more batterie. I just love the 0.16.

This will be my atty for a very long time too hihi.

@VapRon, IMO, getting the Kicked was a no-brainer, cause it keeps your vape regulated. I checked the Voltage/Ohm chart, and by running the (0.16 Kanthal @ 3 wraps = 1.8ohm) x 3.7V setup, that translates out to approx. 7.5V. HV vaping is what I'm used to, but now I can do it without stacking batteries (safe=happy). :2c:
