Both tubes in the pic are made of aluminum. The button is a classic and has not been produced for a long time

I did make one that is similar to the above pic. I have all the brass and ss necessary - IT IS NOT THE SAME.

Also - it MUST have the classic GG engraving like shown - no changes like I just saw in the GG picture thread. Ay yi yi

I agree. I have ss and brass parts I even have an origional 4 in 1 connector but without the aluminum and bottom caps it isn't the same. As for the engravings while I like it quite a bit I wonder if deeper engravings would look even better kinda like they do on the ss.

Deeper engravings would last longer. The engravings would have to be done vertically though like before and balanced.

i was lucky enough to buy a brand new ithaka last week, i made a research in every store here in Italy and finally found... i never owned a GG product before but a FOG and i still use it, it performs better than any other 510 threaded "thing". Ithaka is simply a masterpiece, works great, doesn't leak at all if properly used and with a mesh+wick "hotdog" performs, imho, much better

i tried for a couple of days an ody v2 and ufs, i tried some clones from VF (ody and penelope clones) too and build quality is nothing to compare with GG. Not only build quality but they even work in a different way if you learn to "live" with them, even if they claim that clones are an exact 1:1 copy... well, it is not. It may be for threading ratios, dimensions, first look but... boy they are different!

I have to be honest, long time ago i didn't understand gg and imeo sale "politics" but after some readings here on ECF, personal thoughts etc i finally get the point and i can't say more than: keep the good work Imeo!

WOW, if you read the entire page the very last bit almost had me rolling on the floor!!!

"We Believe: No High Quality, No order; No good service,

No customer. No competitive, No Future!
"

And the bit about keeping it in the fridge to extend the life. Whats that about? Does Stainless Steel go bad? /sarcasm>

Do they even read what they write?

I just flew home from an international mining show in Chile last weekend. At that meeting, I met a high level executive from the bearing industry. Bearings are a major product that's in lots of machines we use like cars, trucks, copiers, printers etc etc.

Anyway, this guy started talking about Chinese Clone bearings which concerned me greatly. As an example, airplane bearings are extremely important and extremely expensive. This gent was telling me that China has infiltrated even that, causing great concern and cost to the airline industry, to the point that airlines are now buying directly from the manufactureres. Sorry for the off topic but my point is this is a far reaching problem. The good news is as China's quality improves, their costs will too, hopefully redirecting business back to the originators.

Also, spent several hours playing catch up on ECF. Been following reviews on the clones and the reports are bad. Finishes that wear off, parts that break off, etc. one good point about the GG is since buying my first one, I no longer spend hours looking for the best, the GG is it.Imeo, you have nothing to worry about with the clones.

There's really big bucks in the counterfeiting of bearings. Just think about it, the manufacturers are usually selling to both customers and distributors at a 10-25% profit margin, depending on the particular market. So if said bearing retails for $400 and China can make a decent-looking clone for about $30 that's a helluva lot of profit! I'm always hearing about seizures of multi-million dollar batches of counterfeits of SKF and Timken bearings (I work for the latter, aerospace defense and positioning control segment of the business, a lot of high-dollar stuff where quality is critical) and it scares the crap out of me to think of all the places people don't think of where something as small as .0001" or less out of tolerance can really cause problems.

I've seen the quality of some cheap counterfeits in the vaping world, though none of the GG copies, and there's a damn good reason they're usually so much cheaper

Just 'cos it looks like a duck doesn't mean it'll quack like a duck

I feel bad to post this but thought the community here should know. A Chinese company that I believe is owned by the same guy that owns Joyetech has released an Ithaka clone, and is even marketing it actively with detailed visuals of its inner workings :(

Imeo, I wish you could sue these guys or atleast make some money out of royalty from them.
