Good afternoon Tree Fam...the weather here decided to go from summer to winter overnight. Yesterday it was hot and humid, today it's cold. I think Mother Nature is bipolar!! We're supposed to get upwards of 10 inches of rain plus strong winds overnight into tomorrow. That rain is on top of the 7 we've already gotten. I hope my trees stay put!

Woke up to CHAOS this morning, which is why I'm getting such a late start here. It was 48 degrees and foggy enough I could barely see 100 yards. Got out to the barn to find Ellie in there. She was put in the horse pasture several days ago (weaning her from momma's milk). While Lannie was locking her in a stall, we noticed she had bad ........ - yup, she drank about three gallons from her mom, which left nothing for baby Cryssie. I went out to check the cross-fence while Lannie came up with a solution to feed both babies. Apparently Ellie wanted to be back with her mom enough to break the hot wire (and get about 10,000 volts in the process), which also pulled off nine insulators, then she went downstream where the charger wasn't getting to, and busted through the barbed wire. So I will have a lot of fence mending to do as soon as we see to the babies getting some breakfast. We distracted Helen (Little John's mommy) with some alfalfa pellets and put Cryssie on her other side, so Helen didn't mind two calves and she got a full tummy to start the day and if I can keep Ellie out, she'll get more from Cricket later in the day. In any case, right after we had our breakfast, I had to go fix the fence. Then we put Ellie back over with the horses and watched for awhile before deciding she wasn't ready to challenge the fence again yet. I'll have to check on her periodically throughout the remainder of the day.

10/1 - 5: Sorry for those who lost lives in the shooting on campus in Oregon. All the places that have had a shooting/massacre have one constant. Gun Free Zones........ Those who are bad will go to a place where they know there is an easy target, people who are not able to defend themselves. Listen with a new ear, there are good people out there who would defend you. The news is biased and pushing all to be unarmed. The crooks will not listen and do so, and then all would be defenseless to the crooks.

All the places that have had a shooting/massacre have one constant. Gun Free Zones...

They have another constant: they all have very liberal backgrounds - no intent to start a political war here, folks, but so far every one of them has either been a democrat or comes from democrat parents. Another thing that most of them have in common is that they are taking antidepressant drugs. Can't wait for the details on this particular shooting to see if it falls in the same line.

The sad thing is that the people who perpetrate such foulness are usually scrawny guys who only feel power with a big gun. Take away the gun and they are nothing. I'm not stepping into the guns vs. no guns debate--just pointing out that petty people often feel empowered over others when given the opportunity.

that is the scary new world they are pushing for. It worries me for not just us now but my daughters generation and my grandsons. what will it be like in just a few more years??

After dealing with some issues at work, some of us were talking about work place violence and how it could happen. Most of us think that it could very well happen where I work. I have people that work in my department that love to run back and tell the bosses about every little thing you do wrong. One of these days, they're going to cause someone to lose their job and go off the deep end.
